Right in the heart of the Red Light District, so very central location (within 10 to 30 min walk of everything)! Super nice facilities, even the 16 bed dorm. Had a little trouble getting the right water pressure for the shower. Staff was fantastic (shout out to Emmy from SC who was super friendly)! Not a lot of plugs in the room, but they do offer a charging station at the front desk. Great outdoor patio. Not in your face about religion or a Christian hostel. Would definitely stay there again!

Pfefferbett Hostel, Berlin, Germany

7th Aug 2014

Pros: Very nice hostel (clean, comfortable, small lockers for valuables) in a great location near a lot of german night life. Each bed had its own plug and lamp. The staff was really nice. The price of laundry was extremely reasonable compared to other hostels I've been to (only 5 euros) Cons: Wifi only works in the common room I would suggest buying a metro pass to help get around to the main sights, since Berlin is so big and Pfefferbett isn't in Mitte. Would definitely recommend!

Very large hostel but definitely one of the nicest I stayed at this summer. Amazingly comfortable beds, super clean, and lots of locker space. It's very loud though. The hostel hosts music events every night of the week, and I could still hear everything even though I was on the 3rd floor. If you like a party hostel, then definitely stay here or request a room on an upper floor. I loved it though. Great location, very social, nice staff. Would stay again!

Home Made Hostel, Budapest, Hungary

2nd Aug 2014

Great facilities (no bunk beds) and location! But I mostly want to commend how great the staff is here. I was supposed to take a midnight bus from Budapest to Prague, but it was cancelled and I was stranded at the bus station at 1am (DO NOT USE ORANGE WAYS)! I called Home Made Hostel to see if they had any rooms, and even though they were all booked up, the staff working the desk called other hostels for me trying to find an open bed for the night. It was so comforting having his help!

Giovanni's Home, Naples, Italy

I don't have enough good things to say! While the facilities aren't the nicest, Giovanni makes up for it by treating all his guests like family. He even gives you an hour long tutorial into all things Naples when you arrive. Sometimes he will cook dinner for everyone too. Giovanni also took me to the airport, which was so nice of him! Please stay in Naples longer than 2 days. There is so much to do! And if you stay with Giovanni, he'll tell you all the secret places to visit!

Funny Palace Hostel, Rome, Italy

Definitely a funny place! Don't let the cafe scare you off because the facilities are super nice for a hostel! No bunk beds, clean bathrooms, plugs and lamps at every bed. Staff are incredibly helpful in planning your visit in Rome. Harder to meet people because there is no common space, but I was able to bond with my roommates. The included breakfast was nice! Would stay here again.

Albergo Tre Donzelle, Siena, Italy

25th Jul 2014

Pros: Right in the center of Siena, staff was very sweet and helpful (and they have an adorable puppy!), rooms are comfortable Cons: Rooms are pretty bare, but it wasn't a big issue since I wasn't in the room much. Doors don't lock automatically, so it was a bit of a hassle to lock and unlock the room every time to use the bathroom. Overall, I would recommend. Very quaint hotel!

PLUS Florence, Florence, Italy

22nd Jul 2014

I have so many good things to say about Plus Florence! Great location and clean, comfortable facilities. Also extremely helpful staff-- I had not been able to find any hostels available for the number of days I was staying in Florence (book your hostel early!!!), so when I checked out, I begged Plus to see if they had any availability at all for the next night. They were able to find me an available bed after someone cancelled that had a great view of the city! Great wifi too. Highly recommend!

Hostel Baccarat, Nice, France

While the location was good, the facilities and staff were not. The 1st night we were there was nice (checked in late and was put in a private room so we didn't disturb our roommates). The next morning we were put in a dorm. The dorms were different from the private room-- barren, dirty, no toilet paper. Later when my friend questioned how much she was being charged, the receptionist became angry and called her names. When she told the owner, he didn't care. Poor costumer service!

Hostel Waka Waka, Marrakech, Marrakech, Morocco

14th Jul 2014

Great hostel! It was very nice, good location, strong wifi, free tea and cookies, nice rooftop patio. The staff was great and hilarious. It's not the cleanest (especially the bathrooms), and while some beds were really comfortable, some were not. There is no AC, so it gets extremely humid in the rooms. There are no lockers or way to secure your valuables (but I never felt unsafe leaving things there). I would not recommend their excursions company, because we felt scammed the whole time.

Pros: Great location, free lockers, staff was very helpful and accommodating Cons: I'm not sure if it was just my roommates but the bathroom was super dirty as was the rest of the room (cigarette butts on the floor of the bathroom that weren't cleaned up and other waste), very loud (definitely a party hostel), wifi was unreliable unless you were in the lobby, and not enough plugs for charging things in the room. I would recommend this hostel, but it definitely wasn't one of my favorites.

I was only there for one night, but it seemed like a nice, friendly hostel. Free sangria and good company at night. Bedrooms were nice, but bathrooms were dirty. Free lockers for your small valuables. Very accommodating with my early check out. Great location that's very close to everything! Overall I would recommend.

Facilities were nice, small locker for all your valuables, fantastic location right on Las Ramblas, very helpful staff (shout out to Mina, who made us feel so welcome!), and was a great place for meeting people. My only negative was that after we checked out, we no longer felt welcome. The manager added a lot of extra fees we weren't aware of and made it seem like a large inconvenience to leave our bags behind (which he charged us for). Very strange after having a great week stay there.

Hotel Andre Gill, Paris, France

Really nice rooms, but they are very small. Location is close to the metro as well as some nice restaurants and bakeries, but you are pretty far from the city center (30-45 minute walk or a 20-30 minute metro ride). You are only close to the Sacre Coeur (but definitely check that out for amazing views of the city). The staff seemed nice but not especially warm or helpful. I would recommend for someone looking for a nice hotel, but not to a backpacker or single traveler trying to meet people.

Isaacs Hostel, Dublin, Ireland

14th Jun 2014

Great facilities and location (only ten minute walk from Temple Bar area), very helpful staff, and we really enjoyed the free walking tour and pub crawl. Major cons were that the wifi only worked in the common areas (which was inconvenient) and that it was very loud. Isaacs was definitely a party hostel, so if that's not what you're looking for, I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay!

Pros: Derek and the rest of the staff are great! He is very friendly and willing to answer any questions you have about the city or how to get around. He is also very easy to get in touch with via email. Facilities are good-- we ended up staying twice! Cons: The hostel is very far out of the city center (30+ minute tube ride to anywhere in central London). Wifi isn't fantastic in the rooms, but good if you go down to the bar downstairs. Overall would recommend, but be aware of its location

Location is not ideal but I think you are a little harsh - we are 7 minutes walk to the nearest tube station then 15 mins on the Piccadilly Line to South Kensington which is zone 1 and one of the main destinations for tourists in London. Thereafter Knightsbridge, Green Park, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden are only a couple of minutes apart... Thanks for a very positive and fair review otherwise, was a pleasure...
