Beach Hostel

Split, Croatia

This is a fantastic hostel - wish I could have stayed for more than one night. Hostess (ladybird?) was very welcoming, and the place has a great atmosphere about it with a common area/garden and artwork all over the walls. Good place to meet other travellers. Dorms and bathrooms are spotless and the kitchen is very handy. The place is also just a pleasant 10 minute walk from the old town and even less time to get to the beach. Highly recommended!

The Drunken Monkey Hostel

Zadar, Croatia

Had a great stay here. Good atmosphere in the place especially around the small bar at night - easy to meet others as a solo traveller. It's around a 20-30 minute walk from old town but for a good hostel like this it's worth the walk. Really close to bus station and beaches as well for cliff jumping. Can see why it's rated so highly. Would stay here again.

Sky Lounge Hostel

Great hostel, amazing atmosphere and backpacker activities most nights. It's just a 10 min walk from the old bridge/old town and close to bus station too. The rooftop and free activities (eg free Bosnian cooking class, cheese and wine night) makes it easy to meet other travellers - I was a solo traveller and felt really welcome here. Also the tour of waterfalls/Herzegovina is worth every Mark - definitely recommend it. They also offer a war tour. Highly recommend this place!

Dink is an amazing host! Friendly, sociable hostel a short walk from town. Good atmosphere at night and option of the town pub crawl every night (do it!).

If you are looking for a cheap faceless hotel then this will do the job but if you want a cosy hostel with a common area, sociable kitchen, backpackers vibe then this is NOT what you are looking for. The main backpackers hostels in Vienna are clustered around the Westbahnhof.

Hi there! Thank you for your honest opinion! You are right, we are definitely more of a hotel than a hostel, we also don´t acommodate too many backpackers - maybe that´s why it was a bit hard to socialise. MEININGER however offers mostly a hybrid combination of a hotel and a hostel - if you look for hostels maybe our hotel at Vienna Central Station would be more suitable for you when visiting Vienna the next time. Best wishes Your MEININGER Sissi Team

Don't think I've ever encountered staff as friendly as I have here and don't think I ever will again. The owner Jani is one of the most generous, kind-hearted people you will meet. For example - we wanted to hire bikes one day, he didn't have enough so gave us his own bike and his wifes for no extra cost! Other than that, very clean, well-equipped, great atmosphere, but Jani alone is enough to make a stay here more than memorable. Brilliant hostel.

Amazing hostel, we were only here for one night and absolutely loved it - wish we could have stayed. Great location just 5 mins from main square, staff were so friendly - free shots when we were playing drinking games. Kitchen is well-equipped and common area is good for meeting other travellers. Loved it!

Great hostel, good location for Budapest which is pretty big anyway. The staff were fantastic, they are mostly other travellers and were very friendly and enthusiastic - always up for a few drinking games at night too. Overall great atmosphere and a clean, well-equipped hostel.

Let's Rock Hostel

Small cosy hostel with a great atmosphere just one minute from the main square. Staff were so friendly, good music on during the day and activities every night from waffle making to sangria and vodka tasting. They also put on a game of beer pong one night in the common area. Kitchen is very well-equipped too. Definitely recommend this place if you want a small hostel with a cosy atmosphere where you can meet other travellers etc.

Great cosy hostel 3 minutes from the main square. Kitchen was very well equipped and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere with a nice lounge area and all the house music you could need. Also has a computer room with a blackboard wall where you can write a goodbye message. Czech yo' self! Love from Scotland.

Eastener Hostel

Berlin, Germany
91%

Nice small cosy hostel with a good kitchen and sociable common room. Took maybe 10-15 mins to get to brandenburg gate but Berlin is pretty big anyway and you're very close to the bars on Oranienburger street. Sits below an apartment block so you cant make too much noise but if there is a good crowd it would have a good atmosphere

Backpackers St. Pauli

Hamburg, Germany

Great hostel, very glad we booked here. Staff were so friendly - thanks again for the free shots when Germany beat Brazil 7-1!! The hostel has a great atmosphere with the small bar, the kitchen/common room area, and the "beer garden" area outside - we met loads of other travellers. The hostel is in a great location just 5-10 mins from the main student/bar area of Hamburg, and a short bus ride from the main station. Definitely recommended.

Stayokay Amsterdam Vondelpark

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Not many complaints but this is more of a cheap hotel than a hostel. If you want good facilities for a reasonable price (by Amsterdam standards - i.e. pretty expensive) then this is a good place but if you want a good hostel environment (meeting other travellers, cosy lounge etc) then this is not the place.

Hostel Quetzal

Cancun, Mexico

Fantastic hostel. Set in this cosy old house in downtown Cancun, right across from the main park/square. Brilliant vibe in this place, loads of other solo travellers. Dinner, tequila shots, drinking games at night in the garden all included. Met some great people here! Wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else in Cancun. Forget the all-inclusive hotels, this is where you want to be.
