Good place for the money in a city as expensive as Paris. Contrary to popular belief, Montmarte is a good area so long as you are being aware. It's at a good location for the Anvers metro, and there's lots of food around. It was really really loud while I was there because of one particular group and they didn't seem terribly concerned with quieting them down, but I slept through most of it. The showers aren't great, there's no temperature control, but the temperature is moderate so it's okay.

All in all I nice hostel, definitely recommended. The neighborhood is eclectic but nice, and it's close to the Belleville metro station. The showers are a bit of an adventure as they can flood the bathroom quickly, just be sure to let the water turn off for a bit periodically (you must press the button to keep it going). If you can't handle noise, know that the windows stay open to the courtyard to keep it cool but they're good about noise restrictions.

Graffiti was a really positive experience for the money. The kitchen is super easy to use and much more convenient than many hostels I've stayed in, and the terraces are a really nice place to hang out and meet other people. While it's a small modest place, the layout encourages socializing and is very relaxed. You may have to wait for a shower or the bathroom and hot water isn't always abundant, but it's still a cool place. Also right next to the metro which is really convenient.
