I love this place!! It's so close to the boat and not far from the MRT. Taxis are ubiquitous as well, should you need to go somewhere farther. The food in this area is some of the best in Bangkok and it's handy to have the 7-11 downstairs, too. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the place is always sparkling clean. The rooms are small but the beds are large and cozy and include small lockers, outlets, and lights above each one. The a/c can be VERY cold at night but it's nice in the day.

Such a nice hostel, so clean and quiet. Good showers, good wifi, and good breakfast! It's about a 15 minutes walk away from the Saphan Kwai BTS with all kinds of small shops and food trucks around on the main roads. The Saphan Kwai stop is a bit far from the more inner-city destinations and neighbourhoods, but it's not a bad area at all and it's close to the massive weekend market. I wish they would leave the a/c on in the rooms during the day, but at least it's nice and cool at night!

The staff here are all fantastic, warm, & welcoming. They have good advice on what to do & where to go. Even though most people seem to be long-term residents, they are still talkative and friendly with newcomers. The wifi leaves something to be desired, but that's AU in general. Asylum is near King's Cross station and only a 30minute walk from places like The Rocks/Circular Quay, Chinatown, or Oxford Street. The kitchen is nice, big & the rooms are clean. The free breakfast is appreciated, too!

Tram Stop 14 Backpackers, Melbourne, Australia

I booked this place because it advertised free wifi, but the connection was very poor. Thankfully, the signal from the cafe next door worked in the room as well. Aside from that issue, this place is run by a lovely husband/wife team who seem friendly and more than happy to help out. Most of the other guests are long-term residents, but all nice. Location is okay, close to the free tram. The kitchen and rooms are nice and I really wanted to steal the big fluffy blankets and nice-smelling towels!

I only stayed for one night, but the bed was fine, the shower was fine, the place seemed clean, and the location was great. My only gripe is the wifi situation, which just seems to be a problem all throughout Australia and New Zealand both.

HI Honolulu - Waikiki, Honolulu, USA

The price is fair, and the location is great: central Waikīkī, short walk from the beach. It's very clean in both the common areas and the rooms. As a dry hostel, it attracts a different type of traveller than most of the other hostels around Honolulu, so bare that in mind if you're more the party/social animal. The kitchen is large with cooking equipment available and the hostel lets you borrow towels & beach toys. The only real negative for me was the lack of wifi outside the common areas.

This place is good value for money as it is cheap, well-located, clean, and provides a basic bed and air conditioned room. The staff can be a bit disorganised, however, and the showers/bathrooms are really tiny. As far as facilities go, the place looks very nice- like a basic hotel- but there's not much offered by way of communal room/kitchen/bar/locker/etc. If you're on a strict budget, I'd recommend this place; otherwise, it's not *too* much more expensive for an upgraded experience elsewhere.

I actually stayed here twice because I really enjoyed it. Again: good location, good beds, and good a/c. The staff had kept my luggage while I was visiting the islands, which was nice, though I do wish there were lockers in the rooms as well. I would definitely stay here again, especially if my plans for the night involved a night out partying.

This place was very nice. It's not a hostel, but more like a proper hotel. The rooms were big, the beds were comfy, the people were helpful, and the a/c was cold. The TV had just about every channel in the entire world, too. Breakfast was included, which was also pretty decent-- coffee/tea, eggs, baguette, and fresh fruit. It's quiet, but not far from night markets and Pub Street either. For about $10 a night, it's a GREAT deal! They also had really addictive banana chips in the lobby area :D

Me Mates Villa, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

26th Aug 2014

Excellent and helpful staff, very clean place, massive and secure (free!) lockers, well located in Phnom Penh. The place has games to play downstairs as well as a good bar and decent restaurant (though this means there is no self-service kitchen for use). The only real complaint we had was the desperate tuk tuk drivers, who made it frustrating and annoying to just be outside. (They're all over PP though so I can't fault the hostel for this) Definitely get the hostel to arrange a driver for you!

Baan Smile Place, Koh Samui, Thailand

I had a very comfortable stay at Baan Smile Place. The friendly and helpful staff was the best part, but the clean rooms, spacious bathroom, good-sized locker, comfy beds, great price, and close proximity to the beach and street food carts were also quite nice! Sometimes people on the lower bunks complained about being cold, while people on the top bunks found it too hot, but there was a working a/c!

I loved the spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds, cold a/c, dark rooms, great price, and the modern feel to this place. It was located within easy walking distance of the MRT and BTS, food, and great nightlife. The downside of that means that you can't leave the hostel without being offered ping pong shows and massages, but that's not really the hostel's fault. The staff is friendly, but I rarely saw any other hostel guests- usually just uni students taking advantage of the cheap bar downstairs.

There's a good side and a bad side to being located a bit farther out of the city center. Luckily, the BTS stop isn't too far and there is also a host of good street food in the area, including the On Nut night market as well as a massive Tesco Lotus. The hostel itself was fine. It was clean, full of information about the city, provided kitchen use, and had good sized lockers, though it was a bit annoying to not have the bathrooms on the same floor. The value for money was still just fine.

I loved staying here. It was very modern and comfortable, the staff was always full of smiles, the downstairs cafe was nice, and it was super clean with great a/c and WiFi. The rooms are nice because there are only four beds and the way they are positioned against the wall gives a little bit of privacy. It was within easy walking distance to A+ food, the MRT, and Chinatown and not that far of a walk to the more touristy district, yet far enough away to maintain a more calm and local atmosphere.

Lots of information about Thailand and SE Asia tours, nice restaurant/cafe, clean place, provides lockers both in the rooms and in the lobby, the location is o-k, not too far from anything but not particularly convenient either. The beds struck me as rather large, especially for being bunk beds. Overall, good value for money, though I wish they would leave the a/c on during the day!

Dragon Hostel Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong China

30th Jul 2014

As far as value for money in Hong Kong goes, this place is all right. Super basic, almost feels more like a really cheap apartment complex than a hostel. The English-speaking staff is friendly (I'm sure the Cantonese-speaking staff is too), the a/c works, and the location is within short walking distance public transportation and many restaurants and shops. Slightly farther walk to other interesting things. It's actually rather impressive how many beds they can fit into such a small room.

I LOVED staying here. It was close to the train and bus stations, very clean, had a kitchen available for use along with things like free tea and coffee... but the best part, hands down, was the staff. The people were all fantastic and helpful and really left a good impression on me about Taiwanese hospitality. I would definitely stay here again the next time I come to Taiwan, and I'd also definitely stay longer!

The hostel staff are excellent. Very friendly & helpful, from check-in to check-out. If the weather had been better, I would have definitely tried one of their tours. The place is not too far from the airport and is near a big mall, but it's not really the nicest of areas. I had booked a 4-bed room, but when I got there it was a 6-bed room with only 4 lockers, which was a bit annoying but not terrible. The a/c, however, was terrible. Overall, you really can't beat the price for a place to sleep.

This was a great place. Mr Kim is very nice and hospitable. He sent me an email after i booked on Hostelworld explaining how to get to his place. It's near the metro line and is easy to find. As soon as I came he gave me a map and told me exactly how to get to all the cool touristic places in Busan. The house is clean and comfortable as well, so I would definitely recommend it!

Very nice place, it was just like being in someone's home. The bed (and the room in general) was comfortable and the owner was very kind and helpful. The Guest House is a short walk from Nara Park and the KINTETSUNARA Station, but a bit farther from the JR Nara Station.
