Pension Ingrid

Erred getting a pension, not a hostel. Located close to bus station (good) but 5-10 minute walk to city square. Expensive bedroom overlooks 2 busy streets. She said, shut the windows. Bed linens & bath were clean, but floors were quite dusty. She emphasized hot water; it was tepid, even with tank close to the shower. It says that breakfast was included, but she said, "go to the grocery store across the street." Instant coffee was old, stored close to the dusty floor. Missed hostel atmosphere.

This was the 7th and BEST hostel we have stayed in during this 4 week trip to Eastern Europe. Staff was attentive to detail. The breakfasts were great and varied. Very reasonable rates to wash our clothes. Cannot say enough positive things.

The staff was wonderful and the place was clean! Staff circulated throughout the hostel, especially through the kitchen to put away things that guests did not and ensured cleanliness and that coffee was always hot. Kitchen has micro, large refrigerator & access to pleasant eating area outside. When asked, gave excellent directions here & there. When taxi was unavailable, the boss drove us quickly to the rail station.

Staff was great! We were the OLDEST people there but didn't feel uncomfortable. Bedding was crisp and clean. The location is excellent, near the London Eye and the Thames, and the price was good value...but, the location is also directly over a train switching location, so we could hear the trains about 20 hours a day. For a quieter place, we might have tried the "sister" hostel, a few blocks away from the trains, the Horse & something.
