Location - very close to the beach with several bars and restaurants nearby, downtown is also a reasonable uber ride away. Cleanliness - the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen were all very well-maintained. Atmosphere - the large back patio is an ideal place to socialize, music in the reception area lends to super good vibes (not during "quiet hours", obviously) Facilities - the design of the beds has a little wall on each so you have a bit of privacy, also each has its own light and electric outlet.

A lot of efforts made for sustainable practices, like single-use (then wash) cloth hand towels instead of paper. Location - walkable to anything you want to check out (Powell's, food trucks, VooDoo Doughnuts, etc.) If you're driving they have street parking permits available for $2. Overall it was a quiet atmosphere but they do offer events like going out to live music at bars, and bar crawls, etc.

The hostel is big enough that there is a social atmosphere and also the rooms are separate from the shared terrace space so you can get good rest. The location is right at the north end of the historic center so you can access all of the iconic sites as well as bars and restaurants in new town. We had a double private, here was a security locker in the room, felt very safe at all times. Breakfast not included but VERY good price with bread, fruit, yogurt, coffee/tea. Loved it here.

The hostel is out of town across the main highway, not a very nice walk from the beach/center. The double private room was on the 1st floor with no security bars on the windows and also the windows did not open so it was either stuffy or freezing with the AC on. Also construction happening outside our room was noisy, no hooks to hang wet clothes/towels in the room, and basically no atmosphere at the hostel.

More like a hotel with some dorms. Very clean and quiet.

Just stayed two nights while visiting the Lake. Since main attractions are tours to the lake, we didn't spend much time in the hostel. Bedrooms and bathrooms clean. Hot water good - sometimes it shuts off but just ask at reception to turn it back on. Overall pretty quiet. And the lobby has a constant smell of sewage.

PARTY HOSTEL!!! Make no mistake that you will hear loud music blasting from the bar at until 2am. But it did seem that they were pretty strict about cutting the in-house party at 2am sharp. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and maintained daily. 1pm check out is nice. The convenience of the in-house bar/restaurant is lovely for late nights but also a bit pricey compared to the delicious street food available a block away. Younger crowd. Lockers avail. Always minding my things.

I meant to stay in Valpo for 3 days and I ended up staying for a week. The staff and guests were very friendly, I made a ton of friends. Very social atmosphere, borderline party hostel but I was still very comfortable going to bed early most nights. The hostel is just a bit off center with a 10 min walk to the center and very easy access to busses/metro going to Viña del Mar. Good coffee at breakfast!! Not the instant stuff. Staff is eclectic and friendly, bringing personality and experience.

Very homey feel, because it is a house! Great social atmosphere without being a "party" hostel. We had barbecues, shared dinner and wine, chatted at breakfast. The owner Ivan and his staff are excited about their city and share that excitement and experience with guests, giving tips of best places to go in the city. Thank Ventana Sur! Great time in Stgo.

I got only slightly less that expected based on how much I paid for a night at Center Ramblas, obviously a higher rate would entail better facilities. At the same time, when I arrived at noon, the place had still not been cleaned. I went out for the day and when I returned at 7pm the bed sheets were still not available. The building was musty with a smell of chlorine and body odor.
