Hostel Park Iguazu, Puerto Iguazu, Argentina
7.7
6th Jan 2015

I found Hostel Park Iguazu to be well-located and well-priced, particularly considering the rooms were air conditioned during the night. It is a short, five minute walk from the bus terminal, and a further five minutes to a host of restaurants. The Wi-Fi was not very good, but there were to computers with internet available, one which was particularly good. Assuming that you are staying in Puerto Iguazu for no more than two nights, this is well worth your money.

Sabatico Travelers Hostel & Guesthouse, Buenos Aires, Argentina
8.0
23rd Dec 2014

I enjoyed staying at Sabatico Hostel. It's well located, had good facilities and overall feels quite welcoming. While there we had an outstanding Christmas Eve dinner and found it a good way to meet people. All in all, I would recommend Sabatico as a friendly place to stay in a good part of Buenos Aires.

Rancho Grande Hostel, El Chalten, Argentina
6.6
6th Dec 2014

Rancho Grande is excellently located in El Chalten (although it's a small town). The Wi-Fi is terrible, as is the case in all of El Chalten, and the kitchen is tiny, which doesn't work so well considering the hostel can host quite a few people. The showers were quite good but inconsistent on their best and pressure. The in-house is a bonus, especially considering you must likely won't be making your own food. The best thing about Rancho Grande is its proximity to the best hikes from the town.

Nature Hostel, Pucon, Chile
7.4
21st Nov 2014

Nature Hostel is a nice hostel situated 5-10 minutes from the center of Pucon and run by the lovely Gina and Gloria. Nature was not a standout hostel but its decent beds and got showers make or a pleasant place to stay while in Pucon.

My stay at Paradise Pucon was alright, but some things were severely lacking. For starters, the staff at Paradise, while lovely, didn't seem to be around that often and did not provide any information about Pucon or things to do there. You have to throw toilet paper in the bin, which is fine, but not when the bin isn't emptied for your entire four night stay. The top bunks in the dorm creaked so loudly that if you were the last one in bed you were guaranteed to wake everyone up.

Moai Viajero Hostel, Santiago, Chile
8.0
7th Nov 2014

Although I was only at Moai Viajero for less than 12 hours, the place seemed to have very good facilities and was very cheap compared to other hostels. I think, with a new coat of paint, this place could really be top notch. Unfortunately, on a side note, my girlfriend had bed bugs in her bed, although it seemed this was new to them. Overall, give this place a go, especially considering the price point.

Arcadia Hostel, Medellin, Colombia
8.6
27th Oct 2014

Arcadia was a great hostel for me while in Medellin. Although the make-your-own-pancakes breakfast was underwhelming, the excellent common rooms more than made up for it. The 12 person dorm in the old garage was a little dingy, but on the plus side it blocked most of the external light and noise, and the individual lockers with powerpoints were a real bonus. The Wi-Fi is alright but, with excellent staff and at a great price, it's definitely worth staying here.

Casa Bellavista Hostel, Bogota, Colombia
8.3
25th Oct 2014

I enjoyed my stay at Casa Bellavista. As the owners live here there is a homey vibe, which includes no limit on noise and the facilities used by everyone, including the family, which may not work for everyone. The Wi-Fi is lightning fast and the beds are comfy, although the dorm on the first floor can hear everything coming through the roof. I found the location to be good, with a only a 10 minute walk to the main plaza. Although only here for one night, I would recommend this place to others.

Pariwana Hostel Cusco, Cusco, Peru
8.9
13th Sep 2014

Pariwana was an excellent hostel to stay at prior to and after the Salkantay hike. The beds were incredibly comfy, each with a spacious locker with internal powepoints. The Wi-Fi left a bit to be desired and the shower temperature was a bit temperamental. Overall, with an event every night and in a great location, I would definitely recommend Pariwana to any fellow backpackers.

La Posada del Kuraka, Arequipa, Peru
7.4
3rd Sep 2014

La Posada del Kuraka is nicely situated on the northern end of the centre of Arerquipa and is well run by Jose and his family. Jose will help you out with companies to do trips with and the cheap laundry service at three soles per kilo is a nice bonus. The showers aren't always as you'd like and the kitchen can get a little cramped, but La Posada del Kuraka is a good little place to stay if you're looking to take it easy and have a base for Colca Canyon and other tours.

Hostal Rural, San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
7.7
29th Aug 2014

Hostal Rural is a good little place to stay in San Pedro, particularly due to the hospitality of Ignacio. The rooms are decently sized and the Wi-Fi is pretty good, while the walk to the main street is just a couple of minutes. There is a very scoial vibe to the hostel, with the nightly bonfire a great way to meet new people and get the lowdown on any happenings in town. All in all, a nice place to stay.

The Adventure Brew Hostel, La Paz, Bolivia
8.0
21st Aug 2014

The Adventure Brew Hostel was a very good place to stay. Although it has its own bar, I wouldn't exactly call it a 'party hostel'. It's more of a fun hostel in which you can drink downstairs and sleep peacefully upstairs. The staff were helpful, there's a booking agency in the building it's well-maintained. Each bed comes with a decently sized locker and the showers have between hot and very hot water and the Wi-Fi is good when working. Overall, definitely stay here for the price.

My girlfriend and I had a great time at Bananas. We felt really cozy in the private room, the staff were really friendly and it always felt like coming home from wherever we were.
