Good things: very friendly helpful staff, great location downtown, great atmosphere Not-so-good things: no lockers; also getting an email before arriving saying they wanted the rest of the first night's payment pronto. Like on PayPal or something. I've stayed in many hostels and never had this asked of me before
The hostel is located in a beautiful old villa. It has great atmosphere and friendly staff. It's not on the peninsula of Lindau itself, but that is just a short walk or bus ride away and the bus ride is included in the hostel stay for free.
Alex, one of our tour guides, was excellent. (Montmartre.)
I got this hostel confused with another nearby, IH. No matter. Fatima is a great hostess! Location is very close to the convention center.
Both hosts I met (both named "Ali") are super people. The hostel has a great atmosphere for getting to meet people. It'a very unusual, great place!
Ian, the host, is a great guy. The location is all right, not right on the beach, but close enough. On the other hand, if you're a US citizen (not "international"), they're not sure if they want you. It does explain that on their site, but it's fine print. Also, as others have mentioned, the address is confusing. In the GPS, the place is Marina del Rey, not Venice Beach. But regardless, it's a great place and as I say, Ian is first rate.
Paul, the evening host, is a great guy. The atmosphere at the hostel is good. The dorms are a little tight, as in you have to step outside if you want to change your mind. The location is fine, and also the atmosphere. Nice people. One thing I didn't know was that they're not supposed to take US residents (unless you're a full time student). It wasn't clear from the Hostelworld site. Nonetheless they honored my reservation, so really not a problem.
Excellent value for money. Great location. Right on the river.
It's great to be able to get a beer at the same place you check into. Very friendly staff.
I had an excellent stay. Cleanliness is great. And there are no bedbugs. (They had been reported in some earlier posts...)
The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and well organized. However, we would not recommend paying the extra 10 euros for breakfast, as it seems a bit overpriced. Also we had a misunderstanding about the coffee machine in the common area. Even though there is no sign, each time you get a coffee or a tea, there is a fairly steep charge. So, if you know that, it is ok. Connection with Paris center via RER is easy, only a 10-15 minute walk,
The only disappointment was no pub crawl. The staff at Big Apple is superb, people like Enver, for example.
It's more like a private residence...very comfortable and clean. Since it is more like a private residence, you have to coordinate your arrival time so that Vanni can greet you. Make sure to note the apartment number and name he gives you. It's different from the name of the hostel. We would highly recommend Vannis Haus.
The staff are very helpful. The rooms are clean.
We stayed in House #2 near the State Department Store. Very convenient.
They refuse to give me my $13.80 deposit back that I made through Hostelworld. No maid service even though I had a private room.
The owner, Leila, is very, very helpful. This is a great hostel! And it is close to CDG.
Staff is very helpful. So is the atmosphere. I would appreciate lockable lockers...
The hostel is very convenient to Avignon. And it has great views! A lot of people mentioned that the Internet connection is relatively expensive, but reception gave me a code for free. Lockable lockers would be nice.
Very attentive, helpful staff. I can't recommend them more highly.
Very great staff and service.
Great Location, and staff!
