I stayed in USA Hostels before but this was definitely one of the best. Nice room, good staff and accommodations. Location is perfect in the middle of everything. Good and secure place but that is what you pay for also.

Although this was an ok hostel I would not advise people because their wifi is so bad you can not call it wifi, they have a router but that's it you can not use it for anything. Therefor I think it is bad value for money because it is a ripoff if they not invest in a good internet connection for the traveler who has to plan a schedule everything online. It is 100 bucks per month to get good internet if they are not willing to do that it is bad customer service.
Thanks for the feedback. We do have several routers and portals. Unfortunately we did have some of the wifi equipment out of order for a little bit. The part that was sent in did help distribute the signal throughout the hostel. During your stay it was out getting repaired, our attempt to fix the issue as quickly as we could, for the benefit of our valued guests. I do apologize for this inconvenience. Cheers, Sara

This hostel needs an update, it still looks like it did in the flower power time. Three showers and toilets for 80-100 people on one floor? Come on that is absurd. Be aware when Emily is behind the desk, this girl wants to watch her favorite tv show on the computer instead of helping you and she shows it when you disturb her...bad attitude.
Dear customer, First of all, I would like to thank you for choosing USA Hostels for your stay in San Diego. I am very sorry to hear that you didn`t like the hostel, and that you felt the receptionist didn`t value your presence as expected. I want to let you know that we value our customers as the most important priority, and work hard in delivering outstanding customer service. I will be in touch by email to extend my apologies to you more deeply, and investigate this further. Alessandro

This is a very nice hostel. Gean the owner is really nice and did a great job in restoring the building. One minor thing is that you don't have lockers in your room. They are making lockers downstairs but as a traveler you need to have a closed/locker to put your stuff and in your own room so that would be my suggestion to them. Anything else is great.

Although the hostel has a nice atmosphere the time I was there the heating was not working correctly and it was way to cold. Different people told the staff but the lobby was to cold as were the bedrooms. The cleaning could be better because even after the cleaning ladies just did the bathrooms there were hairs and old liquids from shampoo everywhere. Besides that I felt ok being in this hostel.

Staff, staff that's the keyword in this hostel. Good atmosphere and overall clean. Facilities are quit old and bad maintained, toilet seats are loose, matrasses are old and lockers not big enough for backpacks and a basic breakfast. Good hostel but they need some upgrading to do because in my opinion for this money they can easily to that.

I don't understand why people rate this one high. First of all the breakfast was bad, old bread and biscuits and they had only one day croissants. Free pizza nights are not a given thing, I was there four days and they had one pizza night. In our room it smelled real bad because the lockers weren't clean and really stink. If you asked them something they always answered 'sorry I don't know I have to ask boss' and he was never there.

The hostel hasn't a community room so it is hard to meet up with other people. The wifi is the worst I have ever had, showers are new and the building is an old ministry so very cool. On Hostelworld they say it is just a 20-25 minute walk to the centre, but actually it is more like 35 minutes and I am used to walk in a high pace.

The hostel was good but nothing fancy. Staff was not really kind and bathroom was outdated.

This is more a hotel then a hostel and the location is just super, it is on Gran Via in the middle of everything. Beware when you go in the summer...you will be having some nasty nights. In Madrid it is 32 degrees celcius and in the rooms are no airco and not good ventilation so in your room it is 35 celcius. Way to hot and I can handle warmth very good but even I felt uncomfortable.

This is my number one hostel. The staff was great but it is the atmosphere that is simply the best. Not a party hostel but a great place to meet all kinds of people from all kinds of countries with all kinds of ages. I didn't like Lisbon that much as a city but the hostel made it worth after all.

At first the room looked good but closer looking my underneighbour had all bugs in bed and the bathroom was also filled with bugs. Airco on the room wasn't working properly everybody complained about the warmth and when asked if the staff good decrease temperature they just did not do it telling it was fine already. Going to Lisbon but defenitly not staying at oasis there
