Great hostel, staff are super helpful, there is a good social vibe and it was good they appreciated those getting up early in the morning so outside was closed after 10 and the lounge area could not be heard from the rooms. Would definitely stay again, felt quite homely :)

Probably the nicest hostel I have stayed in, blackout blinds were a dream, modern/nice furniture bathrooms were cleaned every 5 minutes it seemed. Could do with some hooks to hang a towel/coat. Overall would definitely go back!

Not the cleanest of places, I washed my dishes before using them, but overall a good atmosphere, the staff seemed cool, a bit out of the city and the area was a bit dodgy, I did think someone was going to mug me for my beers, but overall not awful and a lovely little hostel

When I arrived, the guy basically threw the key at me, I asked where the room was he just pointed in a direction... I did not know there was a kitchen, I did not know you had to pay for wifi, I pretty much knew nothing. However, I got talking to a lovely woman who worked there and was clearly shocked and sorry for then”service” i got, but apparently he is leaving soon, so I hope he is leaving the hospitality industry for good. Other than that it was a nice place.

Awesome hostel, SO MANY PLUGS NEXT TO YOUR BED! They do your washing for you! They lend you bikes, go pros and much more for FREE! Just prepare to be told do pack up and get out by 11pm (reasonable). Majority of the staff were happy to help, if you do not have a en suite room there are only 2 bathrooms though, which i heard was a pain some certain times of the day. Will be staying again! Their nightly activities are pretty social too and the staff make an effort to get everyone involved.

Just a standard hostel, near the lake with a great view, 10 mins from the town, probably would stay again

Great hostel, close to shops etc, management man was a little rude but they were fully booked so more than likely stressed... would stay again for sure, also free pancakes for brekky and free soup in the eve

I never caught the name of the lady running the place, but omg! The nicest person on the planet, they were proper booked up and people were in every 5 mins looking for somewhere to stay, one guy was able to stay on the sofa, she really tried her best to help these people who had nowhere to go but unfortunately had to turn them to Greymouth, lovely vibe from the place, ensure you book in advance to avoid a detour!

Overall a nice hostel, close to everything you need. Although, it seemed the majority of people there worked there and were quite clearly on some sort of power trip and extremely rude. First accounts of rudeness in NZ so far, one example: We were laughing in our room which we didn’t realise was so loud (ok fair enough it was late) a guy let himself in, no knock, no warning and screamed at us “that’s enough now, shut up” etc. I was quite shocked and so glad none of us were starkers 😂

If you do not stay here you will regret it, a social atmosphere, made a great group of friends for life who we went on to travel with.
Thanks for the wicked review. Yes we have a lovely atmosphere at The Attic, obviously made by you guys though! Hopefully we can welcome you again in the future! Thanks again, The Attic Team :)

The worst hostel I have ever stayed in, arrived late at night there was only one bed but 2 of us, we had to share a bed! The only helpful person was Nathan the cleaner! Would not recommend this disgusting place to my worst enemy!

Not as bad as all the reviews I seen for this place, it is noisy at night but I would of probably joined in if I could speak Spanish, its a nice hostel and everyone there were welcoming.
