We had a double private room, shared bathroom. It was a pleasant stay though slightly noisy from outside. The staff are friendly enough (though we were asked if we were sisters - we're two women in a relationship. Not really a problem just slightly off putting). Everything was clean and the location was great. The bar was quite good too - and I normally hate hostel commune rooms!! It felt a bit more mature than most- would recommend.

Recommend to everyone staying in Budapest! This is one of the best hostels we've stayed in in Europe, and actually better than some Airbnb's we've been to! The staff are so sweet and friendly. Even when I made a mistake booking the wrong day they were absolutely professional but still kind and understanding. It was like having a touch of relaxed, friendly luxury during our trip, and we actually came back a few days later! Next time we come to Budapest we'll be staying again, if we're welcome!

Really sweet guy on reception. This was an ok stay but it wasn't particularly atmospheric or exciting. Beds were comfy, and clean but we couldn't get any hot water out of the taps. But, just a comment: being stared at by the members of staff every time you walk past isn't the best way of making your guests feel comfortable. If it wasn't for the main guy checking us in we'd probably have gone elsewhere.

If you are looking for a very communal hostel then Wombats is probably right for you. However, we prefer somewhere more private and less of a university halls atmosphere. The facilities are really great though- and considering the mess the toilets were left in by the bar I really commend the cleaning staff. The reception staff are also really nice and had no problem us leaving early, were informative and super friendly. Deffo recommend to people who like people and enjoy that kind of vibe.

Above all the resounding feeling myself and my friend had was that the staff were hopeless- barely had any English language skills and seemed unaware of their surroundings. Other than that the hostel was perfectly fine, and was enjoyable.
