Overall a pretty decent place. Relatively clean, in a fantastic location, and a decent bar. This was the last hostel I stayed at on a two month RTW trip, and I don't regret it. Met some fantastic people, and had a good time. The WiFi could use an extra router or two down at the end of the halls. Poor (though quick) coverage in my room.

Thank you very much for your positive review! It's good to see our hostel was a good destination as last stop on a long trip! We are sorry to read that our Wi-Fi was acting up during your stay. We generally have a very strong and fast connection, so we have asked our maintenance guys to run some tests in order to get back on this high level. Thank you for your feedback! - St. Christopher's at The Winston

Shelter City, Amsterdam, Netherlands
4.6
21st Apr 2015

I was remarkably disappointed in Shelter City - when I arrived, I was told which room I was assigned to (and not given a key, since the room didn't have a lock). Within ten minutes, I was concerned by a gentleman (about forty five years old) who was talking to himself and pacing. I brought up my concern with reception, and their only solution was to have me move rooms and pay the difference in price. I was shocked that I was charged to feel safe in "Shelter City". Poor staff and service.

Flying Pig Beach Hostel, Amsterdam, Netherlands
8.6
19th Apr 2015

The Flying Pig - where do I start? It's the cheapest hostel in the Amsterdam area. yes, it's about an hour away, but they offer a €4 shuttle to and from the city. It's a nice break from Amsterdam. There are enough things to do in the town to keep you busy for about two days. One of the only downsides to this hostel was a staff named "Delphine". She was an absolutely miserable person, and shouldn't be dealing with people. Perhaps she'd be capable of laundry or cleaning (or perhaps too lazy?)

La Controra Hostel Naples, Naples, Italy

Overall, a pretty nice hostel. I had fantastic roommates, and didn't spend much time in the room as a result. The staff was relatively enthusiastic, and the rooms were clean. The bar was more expensive than I've seen at other hostels, though. The lockers in the room - all two of them for a six bed room - were absolutely pathetic. One fell apart when we tried to put a bag inside, and the other didn't give much piece of mind. I encourage the staff to pick up on little details like this.

Agorà Hostel Deluxe, Pompei, Italy
10.0
2nd Apr 2015

I've been backpacking around the world since February, and haven't given a hostel a 100% rating yet. Agora Hostel Deluxe was fantastic - amazing staff, fantastic facilities, and couldn't ask for a better location. When I was there, it wasn't particularily busy because it wasn't high season yet, but the owners made up for the lacking atmosphere. You guys are amazing, and I've already reccomended you to a few people! Keep up the fantastic work, and thanks for the limoncello! Keep in touch! Walt

This is a unique "hostel". The owners are very present, and the washrooms are right by the front reception. It has a homey feel, and wasn't a bad place to stay. A tad hard to find, but I figured it out. They do make a fantastic pasta dinner, which is awesome! The breakfast is a bit disappointing, as is the kitchen. I would reccomended that they charge a euro more and make thr breakfast more substantial. Overall, good place to rest your head. Showers are small, and it's not luxurious, but decent.

This is one of the better hostels I've stayed in. everything was clean, key card access, excellent decor and furniture, and staff was friendly. I encourage the hostel to increase WiFi coverage on the rooms. It works, but is spotty. That can make or break a hostel experience for travellers trying to book their next destination!

Not a fantastic place. The rooms weren't great, and the whole place wasn't fantastic, but it was inexpensive and had a good atmosphere downstairs.

A pretty decent hostel. English speaking staff, nice clean rooms, and half decent showers made for a good stay.

They have fantastic staff working at this property, and the rooms are great. The bathroom facilities are a little less impressive, though I've found that to be universal among a lot of hostels in Asia.

Wow! Nicest hostel I've stayed in in Melbourne area. Clean, upbeat, nice facilities and a great location. (for St Kilda, that is) I would encourage anyone thinking of staying in downtown to take the short (and cheap) tram ride or walk down to this hostel. It's worth it, even for the night. (side note: no alcohol on property unless you purchase from them)

Nomads All Nations, Melbourne, Australia
6.3
15th Mar 2015

Nomads All Nations lacked much of an atmosphere. The corridors were poorly lit and the building is old. The shower didn't have a place to hang things, and there were limited plugs for charging. Being relatively close to many attractions is a great thing!

Hi W. Thanks for your comments. Atmosphere: Bar events every days of the week, free welcome drinks to meet other travellers, meals every night and tours to meet people. Maybe you've missed these ones out. Next time! If you need more chargers come to reception and ask for it as we happily can provide more. Safe travels and until another one. Nomads All Nations

Unfortunately, I have to say that this is the poorest hostel I've yet to stay in. There seemed to be a "regular" crowd that was very exclusive. They tended to loiter around the front of the hostel, creating a bad first impression. The hostel is located in what seems to be a spotty neighbourhood, and it wasn't incredibly clean. My roommates also seemed to be long-termers. On a more positive note, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly receptionist!

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Maybe it is because I work here but in all honesty I actually find it very easy to talk to everyone that stays here. Sometimes I introduce new guests to our long stayers to help break the ice a little, sorry if we missed you! Hehe, I can see what you mean about people hanging out the front but (secretly, shhh) that's actually because the shop across the road transmits free wifi. ...Anything to save a dollar, huh! :P take care!

Nomads Melbourne was one of the best hostels I've stayed in - while the room was dark (one light burnt out) and the hostel wasn't incredibly close to CBD, they did one-up every other place I've stayed so far with their "welcome to Melbourne" meeting. I encourage all travellers, single or not, to attend this session to get oriented and meet people!

Yay! Our main aim is to provide a clean and comfortable environment where travellers can meet new people and experience new things together - sounds like it worked for you! So stoked you had a good stay with us! We will bring up the maintenance issue at the next management meeting. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Have a good one legend. Nomads Melbourne :)

Overall a very nice place to stay. A tad pricey, and not right by Queen Street (like YHA or a couple others), but good nonetheless. the pin code safes in the room are a nice touch.
