Great stay..at the heart of city, near to train station, castle and walking distance to museum. Food and grocery amenities very near. The 18-bedded female dorm is spacious. But only two toilets and two shower room attached. Bad toilet lighting, practically showered in the dark. No kitchen available at all.

25mins walking distance from the train station. Situated near the bay front. Helpful and friendly staff. Small lockers available at common area.

Amazing view, 20mins away from train station and 10mins away from main attraction area. Great surrounding. No wifi in the room. Not a single power socket for charging in the room (big turn off). Most people are hogging on the power source from the lounge, dining hall and kitchen.

Pros: nice place with kitchen and dining area. Great out terrace garden. Cons: kitchen only opens from 8am-11pm. Not ideal for an early riser like myself to get a cup of coffee. Room cleaning from 11am-2pm. Can't stay in room during this time too.

Nice and standard YHA hostel. Bedside light and power supply. Wifi confined to ground floor.

Although location is further for a person who doesn't has a car, the bus stop is at close proximity. Bus no. 2 is frequent at every 10mins. Overall hostel is quite good, kitchen is small to accommodate the capacity of guests if fully occupied. Individual power socket and bedside lamp.
Thank you for your review of YHA York

Wonderful location at the heart of York. A classy hostel concept. Individual bedside lamp and draw curtains for each bed. Was in a 12-bedded dorm and I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Ensuite bathroom and shower although seems a little insufficient for a 12 person room. No self-catering kitchen, can't even make a cup of tea.

At here, door dorm will not be close let alone lock. But there's a cage locker to a person in the room. Lack of ventilation in the room. The environment was lively due to the guys traveler during my stay. Convenient to city and National Express station. Kitchen is small

Although the room was small for 10 beds, it still feels comfortable. Had a single bed (not bunk bed), therefore the noise was reduced when another sleeper moves around. Kevin was very helpful, kind and sincere in helping with information and directions. It's directly near the main road, above bars and restaurants. So it can be noisy for a light sleeper, but I don't have problem with it. There's small safe box to each person. It feels cozy to me because it's feels like staying at home.

Love this 4 bedded room ensuite. Individual locker. Great location, near the abbey and old jail town. Less than 10 minutes walking uphill. Beautiful surroundings. Wifi is limited to dining area.

The dorm room was dirty. There was a guy (non traveler) sleeping on a bed in my dorm when clearly he is not supposed to be there. The kitchen is even dirtier. Pots and pans with cooked food left for few days. The stove is very dirty, the utensils are unspeakably worn out. It's not a hostel for travelers and backpackers only, this place is for those foreigners who work in the city and staying here. The showers wasn't as bad as it was claimed in other reviews. However, the location is wonderful.

Mediocre stay. Hostel is neither near the lake nor near the town. Door isn't working well, toilet isn't enough to accommodate the number of occupants. Kitchen is simple and small. However the dining hall is big.
We are the closest hostel to the castle and the Loch. The walk is 10 minutes through a lovely wood by a river to the Loch. The nearest shop is located 300m away and a supermarket is about 700m a short but pleasant 5 minute walk. The beauty of the hostel is it is located centrally for 2 bars /hotels and restaurants and a lovely cafe all within a 5 minute walk. There are 2 toilet and shower areas and another set of toilets in the bar area. Which exceeds our requirement for beds.

Situated away from main area, Windermere and 15mins coach ride from Ambleside. Beautiful scenery surrounding. Pros: standard YHA hostel, great security, big dorm room. Cons: kitchen away from main building, without shelter (rains frequently)

Pro: Room is big to fit 10beds. Outdoor terrace in wonderful. Cons: Lack of power point. Shower cubicle is small, no place to hang toiletries and clothes. Kitchen has very limited time usage, otherwise close especially in early morning for those who wakes up earlier than 7am.

Has no further comments of the hostel since they are much pretty standard everywhere. However, the staff has no knowledge of place. During my stay at the hostel, I wanted to go and get a ferry ticket to Dublin, so I asked the staff for information and she doesn't know and just direct me to the ferry terminal nearby(wrong one).

Intented to book for two nights, but it was fully booked. So took a night instead, and upon arrival I managed to get a room for the second night. I was very happy. Promiximity to city is about 20 minutes walk.

The hostel is two lots away (second building) from the reception (main building). There are security key codes and the main entrance and rooms. The streets to the hostel seems to be secluded with less people walking, making it feels unsafe walking alone at night. However, the reception are is cozy and the wifi strength is great(including the second building)
