Check-in was extremely slow, appreciate that a number of people must have arrived at once, but the process took about 5 minutes per person which needs to be improved. No activities or common areas (other than the downstairs cafe which is a public cafe) means low opportunity to generate atmosphere or meet other travellers (granted it is called a Hotel but it's clearly trying to also be a hostel given the price and the dorm rooms). Ok as a place to sleep, ensuite bathrooms in the dorms and wifi.

Dorm room was the most spacious I can remember experiencing across a lot of hostels: was a 6 bed room even though they could easily have (and other hostels would have) fit 12-16 people in there. A few nice cafes and food places in the area but generally not the prettiest area, it's at least a mile away from main Williamsburg.

Essentially a campsite with dorm rooms, but that's probably all you need here and it's a very pleasant place. Lovely views of the river and mountains.

I went for the 10 bed dorm, ok beds and fairly clean and a locker each. The bar had a good happy hour deal and was lively in the evenings; breakfast was not too special but all-you-can-eat for 5EUR isn't bad. Only downside I remember was the blond receptionist who could only operate at a snail's pace leading to crowds of people waiting, the rest of the staff were nice and helpful. Great location 2 mins walk from the main station, I recommend it.

Good value for the basics, but a strange mix of guests and little atmosphere. Teenagers always sitting in stairways or corridors on their phones (despite there being two common rooms), and a German man of 60+ in my dorm who shouted so aggressively at me I had to ask to move room. Receptionist on arrival was a grumpy middle-aged man - there was a nice guy on a night shift who helped me print some papers I needed - give that guy the prime time afternoon slot. No kitchen for own cooking.

Positives: pool out the back, lots of friendly travellers, good atmosphere and generally a beautiful hostel. Negative: reception understaffed, there were long queues most of the time. Bathroom was unpleasant but I put that down to 1 or 2 fellow guests who don't know how to use a shower curtain or who think smoking in the bathroom is ok. Parking is a pain, but a tip for future guests not wanting to pay a fortune or risk towing, 42nd st garage $8 per day is

I stayed 2 nights, each night there was an organised night out with dozens of guests drinking together in the lobby/patio - a very sociable hostel. Dorms were perfectly ok and free breakfast was good (I was never around for the free lunch or dinner but it's the only hostel on my trip that I've heard offers all meals)

Good for the price! Spacious rooms, nice downstairs socialising area with sofas, pool table etc. Breakfast included, really close to the metro/tram stop.

Decent value. However dorm had no door separating it from common areas (simply down some stairs) nor any lockers for valuables; also bathrooms were a walk back upstairs and through common areas. About 5 miles from the city centre (bus takes about half an hour). The staff I met were very laid-back and seemed concerned with socialising with the guests more than working (they were good fun but it left me wondering how the hostel actually runs... it was fine to live in though!)

Spent several minutes waiting outside before anyone attended to my ringing the doorbell, then slow check-in process itself when I was in quite a hurry. Room was a little cramped, bathroom even more cramped and pretty grotty, and the sink was almost falling off the wall. The included breakfast was a positive, and a spacious living area and patio

I've stayed in a lot of hostels across the US on my current trip. This one is by far the most modern and clean in terms of appearance of rooms and common areas. But is by far the worst in terms of atmosphere, the lack of kitchen and single common area means there is very little facility to socialise. Also the reception staff seemed pretty disinterested on more than one occasion, as if they wanted to deal with me as quickly as possible cos I'd interrupted them.

Was greeted with a chaotic reception desk followed by a barrage of unusually stringent policies and rules. Reception also not particularly helpful with advice/insight into the city. Other than that, a decent short stay.
