This is a homestay with a spanish-only speaking family. I typically avoid these situations as I speak no Spanish and am pretty antisocial. However I found the experience wonderful. The matriach, Louisa is absolutely lovely and tries really hard to communicate despite her non-exisistent English. Breakfast was good. The place was really clean. Wifi worked well. They were really obliging about leaving your bags there for 6 days whilst you do the W. A great place to return to after a long hike.

It should be noted there are several errors on their listing on Hostelworld. This place is not a Hostel, it is a Hotel. The breakfast IS included. In my week there (and following enquiries), I don't think they are operating a cafe at all. The final miscommunication which is not the hotel's fault was the address. Go with the written address - don't go with what the Hostelworld or tripadvisor address says. Overall our stay was good. The staff were extremely lovely and helpful.

So far the best place I have stayed in Chile. We arrived early (8am) after catching an overnight bus and they let us check in so we could shower and chill out in comfort. Staff were amazingly helpful with sights, location of other things, helping us catch taxis as well as being amazing friendly. Also - good breakfast, great rooftop bar/kitchen, comfortable beds, good showers and wifi worked a treat. No noise after 10pm. Very comfortable stay. Would stay again.

Hostal Po, Valparaiso, Chile

Hostel Po really reflects the personality of Valparaiso - it's colourful, quirky and old school. It has all the makers of a good hostel - helpful lovely staff, a good communal area, good recommendations and a hair dryer when you need it. Breakfast wasn't much - bread and fruit, but it hit the spot. Also has an awesome rooftop terrace with fabulous views over this great city. Bed was ok. Shower not good, didn't get very hot. Wifi worked. However I'd go back.
