Coming to Rio we were a bit worried about safety. Once we arrived at BaronGarden we felt very safe. The hostel is situated in a residential neighbourhood, which is nice because it gives you the opportunity to shop in real shops (rather than in those meant for tourists). The hostel is very clean and the kitchen facilities are excellent. The hostel itself is really beautiful and from the terrace you have a wonderful view of the city. 10 minute-walk (downhill - uphill on your way back) to the metro

The hostel is well-located, close to the busstation and shops. The busstation is important because you need to go to the cataratas by bus. The garden is pretty and the breakfast is nice. The kitchen facilities are rather limited (just space for one person, only a couple of pans) and showers were lukewarm rather than hot - which is ok as long as the weather is fine. Dorms are a better deal than the private rooms. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

La Covacha Hostel

We stayed in this hostel for two nights, in a wonderful double room. The hostel is very affordable and the location is fine, just a couple of blocks from the center. Cleanliness was ok but could be better (the trash of the previous guests was left in the dustbin, and their dirty underwear was left under the bed). The hostel advertises laundry service, but doestn't provide this.

Casa Los Molles

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Bathrooms were clean, staff was very friendly and the view from the wonderful garden was really amazing. There are several kitchens that you can use. We do understand why people would be less enthusiastic. You're requested not to shower between 8 and 10. This is not ideal. They keep several cats which may jump on your bed in the middle of the night...these weren't big problems for us, but they might be for someone else.

We enjoyed our stay at Che Argentina Hostel. The hostel is only a short walk from several subte stations (5 minutes or less) and a 10 minute-walk to the casa Rosada. Our room was clean and the staff was friendly.
