An excellent hostel in every way. Location, facilities, atmosphere, cleanliness... I don't know how they could improve anything. 100% my "go to" hostel in Stockholm.

Great location, very clean, large rooms, large common areas, excellent kitchen facilities. If travelling as a group or want a cheap "Hotel" style place then this is an excellent place. Unfortunately there was zero atmosphere for a young person travelling alone. Almost everyone there was 50+ or a family (from what I saw in the kitchen and common areas).

Backpackers Göteborg

Good facilities and very social. ~2-3km to town centre so get a bus pass from 7/11 (~2.5USD one way). The 16bed male dorm has attracted very "unique" Swedish people both times I've stayed here. Some younger travellers were scared, so I'd recommend getting a small room if you're easily alarmed by unusual characters. I saw the funny side. I would definitely stay here again.

Definitely a party hostel. Close to a supermarket and train station (1.5 euro oneway to everything). You're allowed to bring in alcohol. Wifi worked about half the time. Big lockers. Aircon didn't work in most rooms (but mine was great). If travelling alone and just want to drink/meet people, this is a good place. If wanting to sleep well etc, then look elsewhere.

Big rooms. Large cage locker under bed. Card entry. Free wifi only in reception but pretty fast. No cell phone service in hostel (I was using "3" network), can get 2 bars on street out front. Good breakfast with toast and cereal. Towel rent 2 pound. Trendy area. Supermarket close. Tube 10mins. If I want specifically Shoreditch area again, then I will stay here again, but otherwise I'm staying elsewhere.

A very new hostel. Excellent location (very close to the train and nightlife). Just off the main road so no noise in room. Very clean and good aircon. Can take your own alcohol inside. No organised activities. Rooms are very, very small and had no window, but clean, comfy beds, and ensuite were nice. Wasn't busy when I was there, but in peak season it would be easy to meet people in the common room next to reception. Would happily stay again with location being the best factor.

Overall an excellent large hostel. New and clean. Location is a bit far out of the centre (20mins walk) but close to Central Station so fast access to/from airport. Staff were amazing and host gatherings. Massive lockers in the room with chargers. Big kitchen with everything you could need. Washing $4, Dryer $4, ironing board. Big communal area with nice city view and you can bring your own alcohol. Very easy to meet people. Can't really think of anything they could do better.

Location: 10min walk (700-800m) to train station and good shopping centre. Close to classy ex-pat bars, clubs and restaurants. Very far from Khoa San Rd. Staff: Never met but seemed very helpful with others. Rooms: Spacious, clean, fantastic beds, good aircon at night, good bathrooms. Good Coffee: 60bht. Small Chang: 80bht. Overall: Very social and great for solo travellers. Expensive bar (compared to other BKK hostels). If you want to stay in Sukhumvit area, this is a great choice.

Three of a Kind

Bangkok, Thailand

The reason for the hostel's high score is the staff who went above and beyond what you'd expect. It's a small hostel and feels like a home as everyone knows each other and staff become "one of the group", taking you out and showing you around. They could not have done a better job. Great to meet people, rooms are very dark though and you need a flashlight, lockers can fit a laptop easily, washroom not the cleanest of places, can buy beer and food downstairs.

Large open area in the lobby with good wifi, cheap beers (happy hour) and cheap western breakfast. Very easy to meet people as a solo traveler. Good TV room. Cheap laundry. Good movie room. Strong aircon. Nice staff. Location not very good (if wanting nightlife of Sukumvit or Khao San Rd) but close to Patpong (if that's your thing). 8 bed room was small, had no windows or bin and resembled a dungeon. Overall, I was happy and would definitely stay there again if looking around Silom area.

A small, cozy hostel with a "family" feel. About 20mins walk to Khao San Rd (15min fast). Close to a lot of attractions. Staff were very nice and helpful. Difficult for taxis to find even with instructions. Hot water was temperamental. 150bht for laundry. 55bht for a great coffee. Breakfast ?120bht. TV Room with good selection of DVDs to chill. Best suited for those wanting a personal and relaxing time and definitely not a party hostel.

The location is excellent. About 300m from the centre but it's a nice easy walk and therefore you have zero noise at night. It's at the base of the lookout. There's no common area or bar etc. so if you're a solo traveller wanting to meet people, try else where. If you're with a group, it's a great place. Locker outside the room. Bring a padlock. Can put a padlock on your bedroom door if you want it. Better than average internet (for the island). Definitely pay extra for an aircon.

Staff are very nice / extremely helpful. Excellent location (close to nightlife but quiet, Family Mart across road). Avoid the private rooms (noisy, jackhammer construction next door at 22:30!!), I'd look elsewhere. The dorms however were great. Spacious, clean, the 8 bed on top floor had a nice balcony. Aircon after 5pm. Hostel has a bar with nice food. Beer at bar prices but happy hour is 60BHT small Chang. Overall - Dorms definitely stay here. Privates, look elsewhere.

Good location for daytime (although next time I will stay in Old Town -closer to nightlife and tour meeting points). 12pm checkout/breakfast! Good facilities & large open rooms. Bar has very cheap drinks. Party atmosphere. The big let down was one staff member who checked me in (really tall guy) made zero effort and answering basic questions about the place appeared too much of an effort. Also it's about 1-1.5km from my main bars/meeting points. I'd stay there again if Old Town hostels are full.

Great hostel with all the facilities and close to the Tube/shops. If I was in a group, this would be my "go to" hostel in London. As I'm a solo traveller, it was lacking a little on the social interaction side (although it has a bar), and I have a preference for smaller hostels. Summary: Can't go wrong in this place.

POSITIVES: Staff are very friendly and go above what is expected. Good cooking facilities. Alcohol allowed in common area. Good common area for solo traveller. Dorm beds have curtains (allows a great sleep with no sun). Plenty of showers/toilets. Supermarket is close. NEGATIVES: A little far out of town (you will want to take the tram and this can add up quickly). SUMMARY: You don't have much choice in Gothenburg. This will be my regular hostel next time I'm there.

Not much choice in Zurich. Dodgy area but very safe during the day (although I did have a guy on drugs randomly spit on me and try to pick a fight when sitting outside the hostel). Very noisy so bring earplugs. Room was great. Very big and excellent cooking facilities. Felt like an apartment not a dorm. Owner was welcoming and very friendly. The other staff were unhelpful and didn't want to be there. Nice bar downstairs for a solo traveller.

Weird people everywhere but I always felt very safe (and would be fine for a solo girl). Close to main station (literally 200m). Lots of cheap food places nearby. They never served food at the bar like the other Generator Hostels. Painfully hot rooms (I had to change rooms but the staff were very accomodating). Black guy behind the bar was excellent and friendly and made my stay great. If staying in a dorm, this is OK (apart from heat), if in a private room, look elsewhere for better value.

PROS: Good location, has a bar and it's easy to meet people. CONS: Rooms were painfully hot and opposite a construction site. Noise I can handle with earplugs, lying on your back in your underwear on your bed sweating at 5am in the morning is not fun. No kitchen facilities and you can't bring foreign food inside. Like others have mentioned, the staff make it very clear they don't want to be working. SUMMARY: Request a room not facing the road.

Overall I'm happy with the place and I won't look for another hostel when next in London. Breakfast is a true "unlimited" breakfast with toast and cereal. It gets very hot (uncomfortable) in the upstairs rooms so they should get portable fans. Nice area downstairs to watch TV and meet people. Good kitchen facilities. Internet is not reliable and regularly cuts out, but it's free if you have a computer / smartphone so no complaints. It's just under 1km to the tube and shops.

New and clean. Excellent security. Big lockers with power points in them (bring a lock). You can bring in your own alcohol. Avoid 6 bed mixed dorm (mine had no window and only one very dim light). There is a bar next door, however it was never busy and there was nothing organised at night (except TV night etc.). Good hostel overall - Definitely recommend for anyone traveling in a group. If by yourself, you may want to look for a "party" hostel.

Pretty good location. 10min easy walk to city centre. No regular activities organised, but you can bring in your own alcohol and there's always people around. DEFINITELY need ear plugs. I can sleep through a lot, but the rooms were very hot so we had to have the windows open (and the hostel is on a main road). But WHY is there no soap or towels in the bathrooms? Annoying having to go back to your room every time you use the bathroom. Especially if you're on the top floor.

Pro: great location, very central. Fun atmosphere. Easy to meet people. Great pub crawl. Cons: Internet VERY expensive. $10 a day and locked to one thing. Ie iPad or laptop or iPhone etc. Breakfast is poor for what it costs. Base dollars are non existent. All their free stuff promotions (pizza, drinks etc) start 45 mins after stated time so you have nothing to do other than buy drinks from the bar. Can't take in your own alcohol. I saw Nomads as well. Consider them.

Very clean. Good location. Was very full of families definitely not a party hostel while I stayed there. Only annoying thing was the reception was only there for a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon.
