Very new hostel a few minutes walk to Khoa San Rd. Good aircon in rooms and common areas. Easy to meet people as you must walk past the common room to get to your room. Locker is big enough for a laptop. No where to store your bag (but there is a gap at the bottom of the beds). I'd happily stay here again.
Great location (close to tube, supermarket and food). Big lockers but old facilities. Great kitchen. Friendly staff. Not a party hostel. NOTE: The top floor is very hot and there's no lift (115 steps to the kitchen, 97 steps to reception / common room). That's a 230 step roundtrip to get water etc.
SUMMARY: Party hostel located ~2km from Old Town with great atmosphere and staff. Rating is artificially high. PROS: Staff were fantastic (Cobie, Luka, Juliette went above & beyond) leading to an excellent atmosphere. Good daily activities. Food close. Lots of open space. Good kitchen. CONS: Expensive for Prague. Hot rooms & no fans. Received email post visit making me feel guilty if I leave a negative comment or review less than 100%. 25min walk or public transport to Old Town.
An excellent, large hostel. Very close to central station, clean bathrooms, modern internally, big lockers, big room, great bar and an excellent atmosphere. Wifi was rather spotty. Overall a great place to stay and it will be my "go to" hostel in Munich.
Good place, but unfortunately one of the worst sleeps I've had in 80+ hostels. The room was simply unbearably hot (I needed a cold shower at 4am) and the window (open for some air) faced the street with loud drunken singing until 3am. Otherwise - close to central, very clean, bar is social and would be perfectly adequate place in colder weather. I then stayed at Wombats (next door) and it was overall far superior to Euro Youth. Would only stay again if weather was
This is a hotel with rooms converted to dorms. Lying on my back I could touch the bed to my right and left. If travelling in a group then I recommend, if travelling solo and wanting to meet people then I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Very clean and modern, decent area close to supermarket and food, small but acceptable kitchen, average wifi, no atmosphere, rooms very hot at night, secure keycard entry.
Small hostel (it's a two storey apartment with about 15 people). Good location close to 24 hour supermarket, trains and many tourist attractions. You can bring in food and alcohol. The biggest positive was the amazing staff (always helpful, they took us out each night to great local bars and invited us along to get food etc during the day). Only negatives are no laundry facilities close by and no air conditioning.
An excellent hostel in every way. Location, facilities, atmosphere, cleanliness... I don't know how they could improve anything. 100% my "go to" hostel in Stockholm.
Great location, very clean, large rooms, large common areas, excellent kitchen facilities. If travelling as a group or want a cheap "Hotel" style place then this is an excellent place. Unfortunately there was zero atmosphere for a young person travelling alone. Almost everyone there was 50+ or a family (from what I saw in the kitchen and common areas).
Good facilities and very social. ~2-3km to town centre so get a bus pass from 7/11 (~2.5USD one way). The 16bed male dorm has attracted very "unique" Swedish people both times I've stayed here. Some younger travellers were scared, so I'd recommend getting a small room if you're easily alarmed by unusual characters. I saw the funny side. I would definitely stay here again.
Definitely a party hostel. Close to a supermarket and train station (1.5 euro oneway to everything). You're allowed to bring in alcohol. Wifi worked about half the time. Big lockers. Aircon didn't work in most rooms (but mine was great). If travelling alone and just want to drink/meet people, this is a good place. If wanting to sleep well etc, then look elsewhere.
Big rooms. Large cage locker under bed. Card entry. Free wifi only in reception but pretty fast. No cell phone service in hostel (I was using "3" network), can get 2 bars on street out front. Good breakfast with toast and cereal. Towel rent 2 pound. Trendy area. Supermarket close. Tube 10mins. If I want specifically Shoreditch area again, then I will stay here again, but otherwise I'm staying elsewhere.
A very new hostel. Excellent location (very close to the train and nightlife). Just off the main road so no noise in room. Very clean and good aircon. Can take your own alcohol inside. No organised activities. Rooms are very, very small and had no window, but clean, comfy beds, and ensuite were nice. Wasn't busy when I was there, but in peak season it would be easy to meet people in the common room next to reception. Would happily stay again with location being the best factor.
Overall an excellent large hostel. New and clean. Location is a bit far out of the centre (20mins walk) but close to Central Station so fast access to/from airport. Staff were amazing and host gatherings. Massive lockers in the room with chargers. Big kitchen with everything you could need. Washing $4, Dryer $4, ironing board. Big communal area with nice city view and you can bring your own alcohol. Very easy to meet people. Can't really think of anything they could do better.
Location: 10min walk (700-800m) to train station and good shopping centre. Close to classy ex-pat bars, clubs and restaurants. Very far from Khoa San Rd. Staff: Never met but seemed very helpful with others. Rooms: Spacious, clean, fantastic beds, good aircon at night, good bathrooms. Good Coffee: 60bht. Small Chang: 80bht. Overall: Very social and great for solo travellers. Expensive bar (compared to other BKK hostels). If you want to stay in Sukhumvit area, this is a great choice.
The reason for the hostel's high score is the staff who went above and beyond what you'd expect. It's a small hostel and feels like a home as everyone knows each other and staff become "one of the group", taking you out and showing you around. They could not have done a better job. Great to meet people, rooms are very dark though and you need a flashlight, lockers can fit a laptop easily, washroom not the cleanest of places, can buy beer and food downstairs.
Large open area in the lobby with good wifi, cheap beers (happy hour) and cheap western breakfast. Very easy to meet people as a solo traveler. Good TV room. Cheap laundry. Good movie room. Strong aircon. Nice staff. Location not very good (if wanting nightlife of Sukumvit or Khao San Rd) but close to Patpong (if that's your thing). 8 bed room was small, had no windows or bin and resembled a dungeon. Overall, I was happy and would definitely stay there again if looking around Silom area.
A small, cozy hostel with a "family" feel. About 20mins walk to Khao San Rd (15min fast). Close to a lot of attractions. Staff were very nice and helpful. Difficult for taxis to find even with instructions. Hot water was temperamental. 150bht for laundry. 55bht for a great coffee. Breakfast ?120bht. TV Room with good selection of DVDs to chill. Best suited for those wanting a personal and relaxing time and definitely not a party hostel.
The location is excellent. About 300m from the centre but it's a nice easy walk and therefore you have zero noise at night. It's at the base of the lookout. There's no common area or bar etc. so if you're a solo traveller wanting to meet people, try else where. If you're with a group, it's a great place. Locker outside the room. Bring a padlock. Can put a padlock on your bedroom door if you want it. Better than average internet (for the island). Definitely pay extra for an aircon.
Staff are very nice / extremely helpful. Excellent location (close to nightlife but quiet, Family Mart across road). Avoid the private rooms (noisy, jackhammer construction next door at 22:30!!), I'd look elsewhere. The dorms however were great. Spacious, clean, the 8 bed on top floor had a nice balcony. Aircon after 5pm. Hostel has a bar with nice food. Beer at bar prices but happy hour is 60BHT small Chang. Overall - Dorms definitely stay here. Privates, look elsewhere.
Great for a solo traveler. No wifi in rooms so everyone hangs in the communal area. Free coffee. Buy beers and food in reception. Bathrooms very dirty. I would happily stay there again.
Good location for daytime (although next time I will stay in Old Town -closer to nightlife and tour meeting points). 12pm checkout/breakfast! Good facilities & large open rooms. Bar has very cheap drinks. Party atmosphere. The big let down was one staff member who checked me in (really tall guy) made zero effort and answering basic questions about the place appeared too much of an effort. Also it's about 1-1.5km from my main bars/meeting points. I'd stay there again if Old Town hostels are full.
Great hostel with all the facilities and close to the Tube/shops. If I was in a group, this would be my "go to" hostel in London. As I'm a solo traveller, it was lacking a little on the social interaction side (although it has a bar), and I have a preference for smaller hostels. Summary: Can't go wrong in this place.
POSITIVES: Staff are very friendly and go above what is expected. Good cooking facilities. Alcohol allowed in common area. Good common area for solo traveller. Dorm beds have curtains (allows a great sleep with no sun). Plenty of showers/toilets. Supermarket is close. NEGATIVES: A little far out of town (you will want to take the tram and this can add up quickly). SUMMARY: You don't have much choice in Gothenburg. This will be my regular hostel next time I'm there.
Not much choice in Zurich. Dodgy area but very safe during the day (although I did have a guy on drugs randomly spit on me and try to pick a fight when sitting outside the hostel). Very noisy so bring earplugs. Room was great. Very big and excellent cooking facilities. Felt like an apartment not a dorm. Owner was welcoming and very friendly. The other staff were unhelpful and didn't want to be there. Nice bar downstairs for a solo traveller.
Great hostel - this will now be my "go to" hostel in London. POSITIVES: Location is very close to shops and tube station. All the standard facilities. Friendly staff. Free breakfast. Cosy little common room to meet people. NEGATIVES:- very, very, very hot in the rooms. Wifi is not reliable.
Great hostel for a solo traveller. Very friendly staff, easy to meet people in the bar, great location. Very happy with it. It will be my "go to" hostel for Amsterdam from now on.
Weird people everywhere but I always felt very safe (and would be fine for a solo girl). Close to main station (literally 200m). Lots of cheap food places nearby. They never served food at the bar like the other Generator Hostels. Painfully hot rooms (I had to change rooms but the staff were very accomodating). Black guy behind the bar was excellent and friendly and made my stay great. If staying in a dorm, this is OK (apart from heat), if in a private room, look elsewhere for better value.
PROS: Good location, has a bar and it's easy to meet people. CONS: Rooms were painfully hot and opposite a construction site. Noise I can handle with earplugs, lying on your back in your underwear on your bed sweating at 5am in the morning is not fun. No kitchen facilities and you can't bring foreign food inside. Like others have mentioned, the staff make it very clear they don't want to be working. SUMMARY: Request a room not facing the road.
I'd strongly recommend for individual travellers wanting to meet people. Great party feel to the hostel. Excellent cooking facilities. Great court yard where it's easy to meet people. Alcohol is allowed. Close to city centre. Alcohol shop and supermarket nearby. 7/11 next door. Regular activities are organised.
The staff are nice and very helpful and there are only three so you can get to know them. Great location and very close to the Central Terminal. The late check-in system works fine. Alcohol is not permitted so definitely not a party hostel. I'd recommend the place for groups or people who want some quiet time.
A little far from the Tube and shops (about 900m) but the hostel is good and located in Zone 1. Not difficult to meet people. Good free breakfast. Very hot in the rooms upstairs. I'll stay here again next time I pass through.
Overall I'm happy with the place and I won't look for another hostel when next in London. Breakfast is a true "unlimited" breakfast with toast and cereal. It gets very hot (uncomfortable) in the upstairs rooms so they should get portable fans. Nice area downstairs to watch TV and meet people. Good kitchen facilities. Internet is not reliable and regularly cuts out, but it's free if you have a computer / smartphone so no complaints. It's just under 1km to the tube and shops.
I've stayed here several times and won't even bother looking around. It was great. Although it is expensive for Thailand, the facilities are excellent. Very close to Khao San Road. Great for an individual traveller. Strong and fast wifi, exceptionally clean. Great air conditioning. Communal area where it's easy to meet people. If you want to meet people to party, this is a great place.
Loved it! I pass through Thailand often. This will be my go to place. Don't be afraid of thr large dorm room. There are partitions and it doesn;t feel as big as it sounds.
New and clean. Excellent security. Big lockers with power points in them (bring a lock). You can bring in your own alcohol. Avoid 6 bed mixed dorm (mine had no window and only one very dim light). There is a bar next door, however it was never busy and there was nothing organised at night (except TV night etc.). Good hostel overall - Definitely recommend for anyone traveling in a group. If by yourself, you may want to look for a "party" hostel.
Pretty good location. 10min easy walk to city centre. No regular activities organised, but you can bring in your own alcohol and there's always people around. DEFINITELY need ear plugs. I can sleep through a lot, but the rooms were very hot so we had to have the windows open (and the hostel is on a main road). But WHY is there no soap or towels in the bathrooms? Annoying having to go back to your room every time you use the bathroom. Especially if you're on the top floor.
See previous reviews. Overall happy. Forgot to mention worst showers I've seen in a hostel (males level 5). Kept extending my stay out of convenience. Consider Nomads.
See my previous review. I stayed on for convenience sake. But overall happy with the place
Pro: great location, very central. Fun atmosphere. Easy to meet people. Great pub crawl. Cons: Internet VERY expensive. $10 a day and locked to one thing. Ie iPad or laptop or iPhone etc. Breakfast is poor for what it costs. Base dollars are non existent. All their free stuff promotions (pizza, drinks etc) start 45 mins after stated time so you have nothing to do other than buy drinks from the bar. Can't take in your own alcohol. I saw Nomads as well. Consider them.
Was an ok hostel. The Irish manager was nice and helpful. Location is great. If I went to San Fran again I would stay at USA hostels. Much more fun. If you get a private at the adelaide you will stay just around the corner in a cheap hotel which is actually pretty good.
Great hostel. Excellent free breakfast. The downstairs communal area is very social and easy to meet people. You can bring in your own alcohol. Power outlets in the lockers. Bring a large padlock as small don't fit. Has a party vibe to the place.
Stayed at 4 hostels in vancpuver. This was the best. The others were hi on Granville, the hi just out of downtown off Granville and one on Seymour called cambia or something. The pub downstairs is great. Very social hostel. Good for a lone traveller
Brand new and very clean. Fast wifi. Great patio upstairs and free BBQ on sat night. Definitely book the niagra falls tour through them. Was a great day tour for $55. Free breakfast was a choice of cereals, toast and bagels. Kitchen has a dishwasher! Ask Teika for a personal demonstration of Latvian Folk Dancing and also a tour of the haunted castle. I'm 31 and didn't realize I was still scared of the boogeyman.
Great place to meet people. Have something on every night. Free breakfast is really good. A good little party hostel. My room didn't have enough lockers for the number of beds and had a glass ceiling so hard to sleep without the eye patches.
Standard big hostel. More like a hotel. Excellent bar with very very cheap drinks. Good location. Nothing organized for the evenings but easy to meet people.
Great location. Lots of drunks etc around but you never feel unsafe. Very central. The lady running it is really nice and helpful. Definitely not a party hostel. Quite a lot of long term tenants from other CPU tires looking for work there. Not fun at all, but very cheap for Oslo.
Very clean. Good location. Was very full of families definitely not a party hostel while I stayed there. Only annoying thing was the reception was only there for a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon. You need a telephone to check in if not during tjose times and must wait until those times to ask questions. Now staying at city back packers and they are much better. Otherwise a good hostel.
The location is excellent. Walk to the beach and best night life. Supermarket close by. You can bring in your own alcohol. Roy and Veronica do a fantastic job at making everyone feel welcome. The living room joins to the kitchen and is also the central hangout so it is extremely easy to socialize. I'd definitely recommend. Especially for a lone traveller.
Great place. Lobby is great for meeting people. Booked a room in the 6 bed but placed in the 22 bed room as they over booked.
Very nice rooms. Clean, comfy, dark, great aircon. Location is excellent. No organised nightings, but the lobby is great to meet people and is the social hangout. If you get a 6bed room you might be in the room next to the lobby which is loud at night. The 22 bed no probs. Its not your typical 22 bed dorm. There is a seperator that they pull down between bunks at night

Great bar downstairs. One of the more social "big" hostels. No complaints except toilets need more cleaning in the mornings.
Excellent location. Very fun hostel. VEry similar to the other USA Hostels chain.
Location is in the middle of the clubbing district. Very clean. Good common areas. Similar to the USA Hostels chain in feel.
Excellent all round. Very fun, clean, great staff. Location is great. Similar to all the other USA Hostels chain.
Easy to get to hostel when you first arrive. Small (6 bed dorm). If they are over booked you might end up on the floor. Very clean. No night activities are organised. As very small you meet the other 5 backpackers easily.
2nd time Ive been there. Still just as good. They organise something on the town every night.
Well located and cheap. Great kitchen area and common areas. Down side is only one shower/toilet (in same room) on the main level. Would stay there again. Dont get the large room (10 bed i think it was) as it doubles as a common room. Get the 6 bed was great.
Great location and very secure. Not much common area but you can easily find others. Would definately reccommend.
Good location. good common areas. secure.
Great for one night to say you have done it, but any longer will send you crazy. No real common room, you cant enter the building between 10am and 5pm. Your clothes/ belongings etc are on different floors to the showers and your big back pack remains in lobby. DEFINATELY DO FOR 1 NIGHT. but no more than 2. Very clean. Decent location
