Black Sheep Hostel Medellin

Medellin, Colombia

Good points: Closest to metro, good facilities:kitchen, laundry, computers, big comfortable beds. Not so good points:20 min walk from Zona Rosa centre, other hostels closer, lacked character

Honolulu Homestay

Cochin, India

This was a very nice homestay, very clean with good facililties. We were also given breakfast on the roof each morning. The family were very friendly and helpful, and booked tours for us. The rooms were spotless with nice sheets and blanket. The shower was hot and quite powerful, which was a nice change for us! Safe location, about 10 min walk from the centre of Fort Cochin. Would definitely recommend.

Keshav Palace

Pushkar, India

Nice quiet location. FrIendly staff. Leave wifi on at all times. It's inconvenient having to ask for it to be turned on each tone. Fix the hot water so it's not scalding hot then cold suddenly. Otherwise all good. Lovely blankets!

Travellers House

Lisbon, Portugal

Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable facilities. Has everything you need to make your trip easy and hassle free. Great location & breakfast. Little bit of noise (wooden floors and street window)...this would definitely not put me off staying here again. One of the best hostels I've stayed in.

HI - Chicago Hostel

Chicago, USA

Huge dorm-like hostel. Spacious rooms with good air-con. Location just on outskirs of downtown. Toilets were not clean though with blocked sinks and dirty showers. The rooms were clean enough. Good breakfast but it ends at 9am. Lots of tours organised for guests. The hostel is very big and quite impersonal.

USA Hostels San Diego

San Diego, USA

This hotel is full of character. The staff were very friendly. There are a few stairs tho and no lift. It was very hot at night also with no air-conditioning (ony fans from the ceiling). I was there during a freak heat wave tho. Super location! Right in the centre of Gaslamo Quarter. Noisy at night when trying to sleep. Overall, a great hostel!

Los Amigos is located in a good location about 7 mins walk from Puerto Del Sol which is the centre of Madrid with most life and only about 2 mins from the Royal Palace. The hostel is also located about 1 min walk from the Metro stop 'Opera'. It was clean and not cramped. They give you sheets and blankets. There's also a lift which is good as it's on the fourth floor! The breakfast wasn't bad with cereal, toast, tea/coffee. Like everywhere else in Spain! The staff were nice. Kitchen and common room were closed at 11 at night tho and the lights went out at 11 too. You have bed-side lights which are fine. Lots of information available in the hostel and internet too. It's a good hostel and I would definitiely go back! Madrid is great!

Amanda Cinema Hostel

Madrid, Spain

This hostel is on the second floor of a very old building (no lift)! The hostel was very old, dark and cramped. The receptionist had very little English - he didn't know what a bed was. They had no leaflets or maps of Madrid for guests. Our room had 3 bunkbeds and a single bed crammed into it - I'm sure it was in violation of the health and safety regulations. There was a shower randomly placed in the corner of the room. There was only one bathroom for females, lucky for us the hostel wasn't full. I wouldn't recommend this hostel at all unless you're under a very restricted budget!

HelloBCN Hostel

Barcelona, Spain

This is a super hostel. Not a great location - the neighbourhood is a bit dodgy. Is it only 2 min walk from Metro stop though. The security was great, lockers in the rooms which are opened bu your room card. Very modern - almost too much so, lacks a bit of character. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. FREE internet access! Breakfast was mainly croissants, bread and cake things (out of a packet). Great hostel overall!
