Excellent? Really? I booked a twin (and paid double) but got mini dorm, 2 bunks in a 2x2 tiny, dinky room. Noisy, could hear showers, people next room, temple bells chiming at 4.30 am! for 30 min, sleep was over. Blankets seemed unclean. Staff wasn´t overly friendly, they got angry cause they only charged me for 2 instead of 3 nites, not my fault. Also gave me worst directions. Breakfast just white bread, jam and yellow butter, all on the cheap. Worst hostel i every stayed in.
Easy to find central location super sweet staff, good breakfast made to order, free shuttle to BeachBeach, airport, huge locker, spacious dormitory, clean, good place to stay
I had single room, efficient. No really a meeting place. But close to attractions. Toan took me to train station, it was raining so I appreciated his help.
wow what a nice reception, greeting like they knew me, taking luggage from cab to room, friendly faces, helpful, good breakfast made to order. Small but efficient room. Organized airport transport.
Only stayed 1 note dorm fine ac too coldcold so we had to tirit off. Breakfast options.good value for money.
nice place to stay, quiet, clean, shower a bit of a trickle, but spacious room, if you booked single. Breakfast made to order.
I stayed here before so that tells you something.
Centrally located, lots within walking distance. Breakfast fine. Rooms spacious enough. Typical HI. Clean, secure.
Easy to find, bit of a hike from tram/sub station. Helpful staff, clean premisses. The place is more like a hotel and there were lots of young travelers during my stay, kids groups. Not really for meeting people, common area more like hotel lobby. But it´s cheap and the rooms are spacious, the beds and shower really good. Lockers. Free shower gel. Supermarkets, shops nearby. You have to pay for breakfast, even just coffee. Hot water was free, but only avail for during breakfast.
Good to average value for money only because I was there during Art Basel and the prices are much higher than usual. But overall it´s a great place to stay. Comfy beds, good comforter, clean bathrooms, cleaned several times a day, perfect location among great eateries and cafes. Lots of greenery.
Easy to find, steps from the metro stop, easy walk to downtown and all major sights. Spotless inside, nice old wooden floor and bannister. Clean, comes across as brandnew. Lots of space between two bunks. Often one hits the head, not here. Huge individual storage under bed. Swipecards for every access. A choice of fresh rolls for breakfast. Good heater for winter weather. Good shower, bathrooms. Patio out back.
True hostel feel (3rd floor), staff makes you feel welcome, guest computers, free coffee/tea all day, excellent location, breakfast toast, jam, pb, single room very basic, just a bed and small metal shelf, no window! book exchange, tv, cozy couches for lounging
Spacious room, queen bed, windows, fan, tub (no hot water though), shower not so great, big porch, breakfast served every morning, you never know what you get, since they decide, had banana pancake, egg-stuffed toast, just toast, comes with fruit, since my room is closest to the street, it was very noisy, too noisy, also noisy from family life, Ubud is just so loud, all these motorcycles day and nite, it just never stops, but close to everything, store infront, tour booking, show tix
Pool, big enough to swim, spacious room, queen bed, windows, small porch, quiet in courtyard, great breakfast with choices of noodle, pancake or omelette, all fresh made to order, or just plain toast, jam, tea and coffee, fruit, great value for money, lockers for added security, walk to beach about 15 minutes, plenty of places around for fresh food, fresh fruit juices, close to busy Legion St,
very clean, almost clinical feel to it, I saw but 2 people during my stay, lacking hostel feel, single room efficient, but no window, what is that all about? firm mattress, TV, breakfast just white bread, 2 jams and cornflakes, but there´s plenty of yummy food outside. Easy to find, steps from busway. Guest computers, lots of DVDs, though nobody was out .
Farah always sings and she seems to know everything, but the guys are nice, too. no singing here, heehee. the place has a nice atmo, it's good for meeting people and they actually talk to each other or play cards or read or watch a movie. i liked the porch as i like to sit outside and watch. good beds and spacious lockers. shower good, too.
Room with no window? darkness? If you're a vampire, fine, but i like to have a window, have some light coming in. Hated the unisex bathroom. who wants to see some hairy chest and more in the morning. too much information. the atmosphere, clinical, nobody talked to oneanother. everybody just busy with their mobile devices. Sheesh, talking to real people, now way. Small kitchen area next to the toilet. Yummy.
You get what you pay for. I stayed here b4 cause I´d rather spend my money on delicious food and shopping. if you want lux go to a hotel or pay double some other hostel. And have 3 story bunks. Your choice. It´s a place to sleep, you can cook, walk to many places or take bus, subway, lots of shops and eateries in the area. I used to live on Moscow Rd, so I know and love the area.
Hostel just had Grand Opening (other part student housing). The 10 bed female dorm (NOVELTY capsule beds). Floor/room access only thru swipecard, except anteroom in 10 female, lockers but anyone can go in, cause it´s were coats, large luggage is stored. Since the place is new are a few things amiss but the staff listened and was eager to please. HUGE kitchen. Every room ensuite toilets/shower BIG annoyance: inconsiderate guests who left the common room trashed, littered, spillage everywhere.
Good- spacious room with lots of single beds, sink in room, but only 1 Shower/toilet on floor for 5 rooms. There were others scattered in the building but who wants to go chasing after that all the time? Breakfast served in barroom with lingering beer aroma and what seemed a jumble of day-old rolls and patries, many smashed, not very appetising, but i guess to the hungry budget traveller it´s fine. There´s a supermarket a few yards down the road and also 2 bakeries.
Must be the prettiest little hostel in Belgium or anywhere I ever stayed in, the locations is priceless so is the view. Easy to find. Spacious, airy room with large windows panorama view of old town. Breakfast, the usual suspects but heck, it´s included. Go outside, you pay $$$. You can walk to just about anywhere, just need tram to a from train station.
it´s a typical Y but spacious room basic breakfast, bread, fruit, jam, the usual suspects. Friendly staff, perfect location, walk to many attractions. easy to find. just outside Centraal station.
I´ve been coming here every year during the fair for the past 6-7 years, so that says it all. I really like the outdoor space it has gotten nicer over the years, the area livelier, more eateries etc. Lockers in the room would be nice. The rooms are a bit small but I only come to sleep anyway. The beds are good. Supermarket nearby, tram stops right infront. Free towels adds a nice touch. Hope to be back again next year. Only - having a little kid staying in the room was a bit strange.
I´ve been coming here for years during Art Basel, it´s conveniently located, but it´s a bit sterile, typical for Ys. A plus is the free use of guest computers, even though most people now have their own gadgets, it´s good to have cause i travel sans. You can also get a free locker after checking out, so it´s good that your stuff is safe.
one of the best hostels i ever stayed in. Breakfast served, beds made every day, super clean and great staff BBQ, firepit, with the Yours Truely coffee shop mingling with the locals, view of the mountains, eateries, shops, busses outside the door, tours and other activities. All rooms have ensuite baths and TV. Individual lockers in beds and large lockers in room. Only neg is the lighting. Just one sad lightbulb at the ceiling, In my room, only 1 bed with reading light.
there is no reception, really, there was no staff, just a girl who didnt really know much. we had to look for linens and towels and toiletpaper, cause no-one was around. the ensuite dorm is a bit small especially for 4 people, nothing but the beds and lockers underneath, room otherwise bare. but its close to ferry and old town. kitchen has all one needs, except there was no free tea left after 1 day stay. no replacement.
everything you need in your home away from home. the place feels more like home, a big apt where you are a friend among friends. large kitchen for cooking, and a table foosball to work of the calories. comfy couches to relax and large lockers in room. All rooms with a street view, big windows, airy, light. Everything is in walking distance and the hostel is super easy to find.
most likely the noisiest hostel I ever stayed at. Doors slamming, people shouting, the elevator ... my room was next to stairwell. Heat went out at night so it was a bit too cold. But easy to find great location, good sized rooms but no lockers in-room, Breakfast nothing special, toast, packaged jam, butter, juice, 2 cereals. Had better. Large common room, large kitchen for cooking, if that´s your thing. I´d probably come again for location.
The poor rating for staff goes to the kitchen. The aide snatched a cup out of my hands barking at me that for tea I have to use the glass. The cheek! She clearly doesn´t know her place. I am a guest! Mold is showers. One male receptionist, who was working ther for 25 years quit, leaving end of year. That tells you. Since the new ownership the place has gone down and it´s all about money. Guests don´t count. I liked the place so I was a repeat customer, but I won´t be back. Lacking atmosphere.
Already my second time here, close to stations, walking distance to many attractions, shopping, dining, bars, all nearby. Friendly staff, eager to please, cozy common area. Plenty of good showers. Good breakfast. Large storage under beds. Indi reading lamps.
I was the only guest, so can´t really tell. But spacious bright rooms, coatracks, room under beds. Cozy kitchen, lots of vintage stuff, alas no TV or guest computer nor books. In nice weather, no biggy, but it was cold and snowy so having something to do while inside would have been nice. However, staff was chatty and helpful, found me an English book. They take recycling serious.
When I got there they were closed, "lost" my reservation, so it was a bit stressfull. However, in the end they checked me in, but: I was alone, I mean, the owners gave me the keys and disappeared. So I can't really give a fair review. Internet not always working. Breakfast just basics. The rooms are very spacious with small lockers, but not all padlocks work on them. Excellent location, you don't need to go far to find food and entertainment. Just too much snow!!!
one extremly unfriendly guy in reception, no music, after complaining still had to wait 1 more day. Breakfast a bit sad. All in all no atmosphere and all guest just hiding behind their mobile devices. 0 communication. No hooks in bathroom, only 2 in dorm. Big lockers. The cleanest hostel i´ve been to. Location boring.
Since it used to be a real hotel, bathrooms with tubs and blowdryer. Though pipes etc could use some paint. Vaccuming was a bit wishy-washy, she just vaccumed the front but the back stayed untouched. Mini kitchen with daily specials is fine, the common room is too big to be cozy, and not many people used it during my stay. Breakfast is good, with lots of cereal choices. Fresh seasonal fruit would be nice, even at additional price, lets say $1 for oranges, bananas, etc.
The place is old an very run-down, worn-out. It´s clean but since it is so run-down it doesn´t appear that way. Toilets are frequently clogged. Showers are good. Free stuff in the shower. Common room is in the reception area and small. Kitchen tiny but functional, stove, micro. Rooms ok, but rugs treatbare and paint peeling off the wall. You get what you pay for, it´s cheap.Location is great! The staff is overall friendly and helpful. But paying 1 Pound per bag for storage is bad.
I was the only guest at the hostel, so I had a very spacious 3 bed dorm, no bunks, to myself. Big windows, large indy lockers!' however, the only computer was broken, and there was no entertainment options, no books, tv, movies etc. I took a shower but the shower door was leaking so a lot of water ran all the way to the hallway. it was very slippery and annoying. Hope they´ll fix it soon. The hostel is easy to find just at the end of ped zone and is in a quiet sidestreet.
Hand down the friendliest team in all of the Polish hostels I stayed. Very informative and helpful. I´ve seen some grumpy ones in other hostels. Good location, easy to find, close to everything, train/bus station, city center. Good food right around the corner. My room has desert wallpaper, since I´m from California, it´s so cool. Def recommend this one.
Location is great if you work at Messeplatz, just one line door to door, and since I was working at the fair, very accommodating, since i couldn´t check in during regular hours, i got key and passcode in the morning, they showed me the room in person, brought my luggage to the room, so when i came back at nite, everything was set. i stayed here before, so i know the place. also great shower, handicapped facilities.
super friendly helpful personnel, the Welch girl in the Kitchen, the NZ guy, lots of fun, always with a big smile, the reception, great service, free coffee and tea all day, small courtyards to sit and relax. gorgeous kitchen, never seen anyplace other than a restaurant. Good beds, all facilities handicap friendly, good shower - will come again and again.
Only 2 female bathrooms/showers for the whole floor is clearly not enough. Waiting times. The kitchen is very impersonal and not inviting. You can´t really meet other guests. Only 1 computer for interent which often didn´t work. The disco goes on until 6a.m! Common rooms have no lockers. However, easy to find even at night. Some of the personal only speaks Polish or little German.
First I walked past it since it´s a bank building and only a plaque that blends in, saw others had the same problem. a bit noisy because of the bar but later it was quiet. my room was cute, if you like girly pink. spacious lockers. no free breakfast but free internet. can´t have it all.
Easy to find, close to main road, old town, a bit noisy due to construction across the street. Good breakfast, and very quiet. My room, 3 bed fem dorm, was spacious and the locker/nightstand was a nice additon. Only thing, when I asked 1 of the staff for directions to the fleamarket she sent me to a mall downtown, not amused. But then I went to Interconti hotel and the concierge gave me the right info. So I went Sunday and found good stuff. I would def come back here.
If you're into sleeping in a coffin, ever waned to know what it's like to be dead, or blind, this is the place to be. Basement location, complete with stale air, and windowless room, hence pitch black, not everybody's cup of tea. The staff's mood adds to the somber feel: smiling or greeting is not in their vocabulary. And if you're sharing the room with 2 guys with smelly feet, the gross out factor is +10. Not recommendable.
directions could have been better. especially since I arrived in the pouring rain...
the rooms - rather cubicles separated by thin partitions, yes you can hear everything next door, don't have windows that open so in the summer it gets really hot and stuffy. The trash seems to always be overflowing, other than that it's a great place.
very friendly helpful owners. speak several languages. very rare in Korea. I speak some Korean so that helps.
No dishes to wash! full service kitchen and great meals! Pizza made to order! Great breakfast. Great view all the way to the ocean.
Great place, easy to find. Nice touch: English chef cooked a nice meal every night, 5 Euros buy you fresh soup, bread and a glass of wine. What better way of welcome could there be?
Place was pretty much closed for winter, (they didn't even know I was coming) I was the only guest, just the owner and his dog. I enjoyed some peace and quiet. Had the run of the house, was almost like home. Very friendly owner and dog would lick you to death, big puppy he is.
Very dark, gloomy place. 4 Euros for breakfast is too much. There's better free breakfast at other hostels. Bed are good and firm. Rooms are spacious. Common rooms had the charm of a 50's retirement home and nobody used them.
Generous staff (one Aussie), fairly clean, at least he tried his best. There were lots of bugs crawling around computer area, which are probably a seasonal plague and screen doors and windows are not yet heard of. Toilet paper was a bit rough. They had the cushy stuff at the other hostels (Tallinn and Riga).
great clean brand spanking new place.very cheerful, helpful, extremely friendly and enthusiastic staff. Best hostel we ever stayed at.
Only thing: The toilet was frequently out of water, so no flushing and bad smell in the morning, due to people using it without ability to flush. They were fast in responding to the problem however, it reoccured throughout the stay. That was the only speck on an otherwise cool place.
very crammed room, had booked 3beds, got 4, door barely opened due to lack of space, also had to climb over other beds to get to bathroom. Bathroom was moldy and had a musky odor. No window in either. Plastic tiles in lieu of ceiling was black with mold and stank, also birds seem to be nesting above. Staff spoke very little English, very bad for those who don't speak Spanish. NOT RECOMMENDABLE
it´t a bit noisy.
