Cool concept, loved the privacy of the pods. Decent sized lockers. Value for money only lower because I stayed during the Fringe in August and it was the most expensive dorm bed I’ve ever stayed in.

The most comfortable beds yet, excellent fast and free wifi, decent kitchen and a lovely lounge area. It's a 10 minute walk from the town centre. There are no lockers in the rooms and the room doors were frequently left open by other guests.

Location is about a 15 min walk to the centre of Chch, but that is to be expected post-quake. New hostel (I was here in Nov 2014 & it was a run down motel, much improved) with warm rooms, nice en suite bathrooms in the 6 bed dorm, good (free) wifi, and extremely clean. Kitchen is too small for the size of the hostel though and is poorly ventilated. You can't have kitchen door open as it sets off fire alarms so they over-compensate by having cold air blown into the kitchen which blows food cold.

Hmm, it was extremely quiet when I stayed - only a couple of other people in the hostel and I think they were long-stayers. I had a 5 bed dorm room to myself, but it was extremely cold, even with the heater on. Showers were nice and hot. Kitchen a bit small, would imagine it's hard work if there are more people staying. Car parking is free across the road. I got 1GB of Internet free for 1 night. Overall the place could do with a bit of a spruce up.

YHA Queenstown Lakefront, Queenstown, New Zealand

5th Apr 2016

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Seems pretty new, great facilities. Light and power point on each bed, lockers in the room, extremely well equipped kitchen, nice bathrooms. Very clean and a fabulous location on the lakefront. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of Queenstown but if you prefer it a bit quieter, it's perfect. Only downside is wifi connectivity - a bit temperamental.

Despite appearances from the outside, this was a nice hostel. Rooms warm and comfortable. Decent bathrooms, and a pretty well equipped kitchen. Wifi is free and works. Invercargill itself hasn't got much to entertain you for more than a day but this hostel is fine if you are staying in Invercargill.

Great location on the lakefront. The kitchen area overlooks the lake - definitely the best view I've had whilst eating my pasta. You get a towel at this hostel, which is like heaven. En suite dorms, accommodating staff, but wifi a bit temperamental.

Great location just off the octagon. Free breakfast (and if it runs out of bread, they will give you more. Not always the case with free breakfasts). It's above a bar and pool hall so there is some noise from that in the late evening. Nice common area. Internet works and you get 200mb per day free.

Excellent location if you are looking for easy access to the bluebridge ferry - it is across the road. Train station also close by. A bit of a walk to museums and the city centre. Still doing renovation work - I was here in Nov 2014 and they were doing it then - so no hope of a lie in beyond 8am. 1 hour free wifi per 24 hours - time your usage right if staying more than 1 night. Staff on reception could be more welcoming.

I spent 2 rainy days here after doing the Tongariro Crossing. Spacious communal area, nice showers, hot tub and great internet ($5 for 1 day/10GB which I did my best to use whilst it was raining). Nothing wrong with the hostel at all, but I'd probably stay in Whakapapa Village in future as that's where some of the shorter walks start from.

Great location in the centre of Napier. Lovely old building with some great features in the communal area. Free wifi. Only 3 beds in my dorm. Now the downsides: slightly odd smell when you enter the hostel, make full use of your sheet as the duvet covers are not changed, and I hate having to light the gas hob manually with a cigarette lighter.

Honestly the nicest backpackers I've ever stayed in. As far as I could tell, all the rooms have actual beds (no bunks), and plenty of plug sockets near each bed - that is very rare in my experience. Decent showers, and they even have a bath which I greatly enjoyed. The wifi is free and is excellent - the best I've come across so far either free or paid for. Only complaint would be no lockers in rooms for locking away valuables. Would definitely recommend this place!

Thank for the nice comments. We have a safe in the office for valuables too. Cheers Neil

I stayed here for a week and despite having slight reservations when I got there, this was actually a nice backpackers. It's a little bit further out of town than other backpackers in Paihia, but that was fine for me, I prefer it a bit quieter. Free wifi, clean bathrooms and communal areas, good sized lockers in the bedrooms. There were quite a few people staying long term which meant they had settled into the bedrooms so space was at a bit of a premium but other than that, no other complaints.

I really liked this backpackers. It's in a central location just off Queen Street but is fairly quiet and laid back. Beds are comfy, bathrooms clean and the kitchen is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, cooking equipment and ample room in the fridges. You get 3 hours of free wifi when you check in. Will definitely be staying here when I'm back in Auckland.

Hi, Thanks for taking your time to leave a review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Sorry for the hot room but unfortunately due to safety reasons we cant let the windows open anymore as we are on the top floor. Hopefully next time you come it wont be in the humid heatwave we experienced :) The Attic team :)

It's a beachfront hotel but not the nicest beach on Fiji. If you want food in the evening, you'll have to go to one of the other hotels on the same road as there is no dining option at the hotel apart from breakfast. Comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, and excellent value in the dorm rooms.

I stayed for 1 night during the Australian Open tennis so it was a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Having said that, no one else was in my 4 bed dorm so I ended up with the room to myself. Carpet was in dire need of a clean/vacuum but the bed was comfy and bathrooms were clean.
