Pretty great hostel. Awesome location and the staff is nice. High security. 2 min walk to the beach... Just around the corner. Definitely recommend it.

BEST HOSTEL IVE EVER STAYED IN. Seriously. By far the best hostel in Sydney (everyone at Wake Up even says that Bounce is better). It's extremely clean and is right by the central train station, it's perfect. The atmosphere is awesome. There is a rooftop with an amazing view that everyone hangs out on every night. It's super easy to meet other people. I ended up hanging out with all my roommates and it was so sad to leave each other. They have theme nights like Monday movie night and stuff!

I had an awesome stay at the Sunrise. The staff is a ton of fun and the hostel atmosphere is great. Super laid back. There is the coolest 3 legged dog. I stayed two nights and people were out in the dining room talking until midnight or later. The guy who runs the place cooked dinner one night and was sharing his wine. Everyone is super nice. There is a ping pong table and pool table, facilities are great. Super close to the ocean and just a 15 minute was to the bus stop and iSite.I recommend it

Pretty nice hostel although the atmosphere wasn't great. The rooms are nice and each floor has a tv room. Right by museums and botanical gardens. A cafe is downstairs which is nice.

The hostel itself was fine. The village is really small so you don't really have any other option. My experience wasn't great. I had a scary old guy in my room who would just stare at me, even woke up in the morning with him sitting up in bed staring. He isn't long term though so you don't have to worry about that. The upstairs is a nice common area. There is no tv room. The kitchen is nice. The security was good, rooms lock as soon as you leave. You have to pay for wifi. I think it was $5 a

Pretty cool experience. It's a nice, clean hostel. The staff isn't very friendly and it's about a twenty minute walk to any of the main attractions. The wifi costs $5 fo 5G or $10 for 15G. The beds are really comfortable and they have both a cinema and a movie room.

The location is away from the main part of the village although just 10 minutes walking to anywhere really, the staff wasn't overly friendly but still not bad. I always seem to have Asian guys snoring beside me in the YHA hostels, that was the worst part. Other than that great faculties and great view from the kitchen/dining room.

Amazing hostel. I was in a 6 bed dorm which was more like a cabin. It had a personal kitchen and bathroom. The atmosphere was awesome and they play a movie in the tv room every night. The wifi was great (like all YHA hostels). There was a nice view of the lake and the location was perfect.

It was a pretty decent hostel. Fairly small and the kitchen has no oven. The space is tight but it was an okay hostel.

The room was an absolute mess and my bed wasn't made or clean when I arrived. Two people 'slept' above me and you could hear people partying all night and I was there on a weekday. The facilities are pretty nice but the backpacker busses are often there so the atmosphere is lacking.

Awesome hostel. The staff was great and super friendly. The facilities are nice and he location is right next to the octagon! You can't cook after 11 which wasn't a problem. The wifi sort of disconnects quite a bit so you have to keep your code on you but it still works really well. I stayed here for 6 days and am super happy with the stay. It's located above a pool bar so you get to play free pool on weekdays!
Great comments! We are currently doing our best to sort out the wifi. Pleasing to hear you enjoyed the Ontop experience

Overall a nice hostel. Facilities are average and so was the atmosphere and location. It is a smaller hostel. Definitely worth the stay.

It's a fun, exciting hostel. The kitchen wasn't too clean but the atmosphere made up for it. Plus it's a great location and there is a bar you can access from the hostel. Pool table is a plus. Hop on/hop off busses stay here so a lot of people already knew each other at the hostel
Hi Thanks for choosing to stay at Base Wanaka. We appreciate you taking the time to compete the online survey. It sounds like you had a great stay with us which was fantastic to read and exactly what we would hope for. In regards to the Kitchen we do clean this up to 3 times a day with a volunteer in the kitchen all through dinner service. We admit that despite signage and warnings, sometimes with the number of guests using the kitchen all at once, the mess can build up – especially if people “forget” clean up after themselves. We hope you choose to stay at Base Wanaka or another Base property in the near future. Best Regards & Happy Travels, Sophie Heath General Manager Base Wanaka

Nice hostel in a great location. It seems like the hop-on hop-off bus tours stay here so a lot of people knew each other already which took away from the atmosphere a little. Facilities were nice and there is a bar connected. Free pancakes in the morning and a dinner voucher. Great value.
Hi there, cheers for taking the time to leave a review. We are stoked to see that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you back in the capital in the future. Saoirse, General Manager
