Nice place, pleasant staff, well-maintained. Rooms were unimaginably spacious - I was in a massive four-bed dorm in a queen double. Good atmosphere - people wandering around most of the day but not as social as I would have thought. Reasonable price for the location in NYC, so would recommend.

Really good people at this hostel, the staff are excellent. Super social atmosphere, something going on every night despite small size. Facilities are decent and well maintained. A little music room off the kitchen for those with any desire to jam. Pancakes for breakky are a nice touch. A little too far from the action in Denver to wholeheartedly recommend, but if just looking to chill in Denver for a few days before heading to the Rockies, it's a pretty good option.

Great social space in the Northwest. Big hostel, really clean environment and quite pleasant staff. Free breakfast in morning is relatively insubstantial but filter coffee is not bad. Rooms are healthy balance between under-utilised and crowded. Walking distance from food and drink options, and a casual 15m walk downtown into the Pearl. Price point is pretty high for what's on offer, but would still recommend.

Didn't spend as much time in the hostel itself but from exposure, it seemed a little expensive for what I ended up with. Location at the bottom of Chinatown is decent but still a bit far from the action. Rooms were secure with big, spacious lockers for belongings, yet mine smelt like previous patrons had chained a carton of Marlboro reds the night before. Unmemorable staff. Weird atmosphere - the rooms are really secluded from the social spaces, which I found made it more difficult to socialise.

Chilled space about 20 minutes walk from Venice Beach. Staff and other patrons were relaxed and sociable. Relatively close to shopping, eating, drinking areas but location isn't amazing. Kitchen quite good, and two fridges for extra home-cooking goods. Lacking in other facilities though - beds are pretty old and noisey, rooms leave little space other than the beds, bathroom facilities are a little dilapidated etc. Decently cheap but considering location would probably not recommend.

New hostel in touristic Southbank of Hue. Clean facilities, incredibly helpful staff (especially to the hungover) and mellow but social atmosphere amongst other travellers. It's really very small so with poor timing you may not see too many faces around, but it's quiet in the evenings if a decent rest is required. Great bars, restaurant and shopping all within walking distance. Perfect for a day or two while checking out the Imperial Fortress. Would recommend.

Very little to fault this place on. Staff were amazing - conversational, affable, and hugely keen to go the extra step for you. We had a private room so it would be difficult to comment on the cleanliness or security of the dorms, yet in both facets we were totally satisfied. Phong Nha is a dream location, yet perhaps for those without wheels, movement could be difficult. Hammocks by the river. Delicious breakfasts, yet could be a little bigger. Great shared dinners. No more needs to be said.

An adequate hostel from which to explore the underwhelming city of Ninh Binh. Rooms are spacious and clean, with big, secure lockers for travellers. A few decent restaurants are within 100m of the entrance, yet it's decent walk to find anywhere from which to withdraw money. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the atmosphere was quite mild, but this was mainly due to the majority of patrons being exhausted riders on their way to or from Hanoi. Not bad for a one night stop off.
Dear Guest. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am very pleased to hear that our staff made your stay pleasant. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Sincerely,

The ideal hostel to begin a trip to Vietnam. Staff were affable, knowledgeable and effective in communication. Hostel offers tours to a bunch of key locations, namely up to Sapa and to Ha Long Bay, both being well worth the money spent. Location is prime - right in the hustle and bustle of the old town with only a short walk separating it from Hanoi's best sights. Bathrooms were adequate, and I'm usually critical of a lack of kitchen facilities but nearby cheap eats are in abundance.
Hi, Thanks for taking your time to review our hostel. We really appreciate it and glad to hear that you was enjoyed your stay at our Old Quarter hostel and had a great experience with our tour to Sapa and Halong bay. We wish you will have a fab trip. Best regards!

Incredibly aesthetic establishment, with a superbly affable and helpful selection of employees. Very secure too, with key cards and lockers. Location is a little out of the city but close to metro station and other public transport. Facilities are decent, but nowhere really to meet other travellers excluding public bar downstairs. Fairly cheap in comparison to most Prague hostels. Recommend highly for a short stay, but more for a sightseeing trip than a social one.
Thank you so much for staying with us and for willing to recommend Sophie's Hostel to your friends.:) Kind regards, Kristi Sophie's Hostel MOD

Superb location - less than five minutes from the town square even if you walk slowly. Facilities are great in this behemoth - lots of clean and well maintained bathroom facilities, kitchen is large and well equipped, and the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. No lockers or security past the code to get in though. Staff are awesome, friendly and helpful with whatever you need. Atmosphere with other travellers is amazing too - I highly recommend for those wanting to meet people.

Sick place. Staff are absolutely brilliant. Place is small, homey, and ridiculously conducive to an amazing social experience. People are always around and the setup is fantastic. Rooms are cool and spacious, bathrooms and small kitchen are adequate, and the location is brilliant - a stone's throw from the Jewish quarter. Recommended highly to those in Budapest to experience the social atmosphere.

Fairly nice place. Plenty of space, great common room downstairs, and really really awesome staff. Security is great, with a buzzer for anyone entering the place and large lockers with individual keys in each room. Facilities are kind of lacking - the stovetop barely works and the kitchen is ill-equipped, and the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Not all that close to the old town either. Regardless, would still recommend for a short stay in Brashow.

This is a seriously good hostel. The social environment absorbs and embraces all those who want to be a part of it, and the staff are more than helpful and accommodating. Facilities are good, with quirky bathrooms, a small but well-equipped kitchen and awesome rooms - every bed has its own person fan and little shelf. Location is not as far from the old town as it seems, and the quality of experience here far outweighs the more-than-manageable 15 minute stroll to the city. Would recommend.

Not a bad place. Staff are pretty cool and helpful, facilities are manageable and although lacking in great security, they allow you to store stuff at the desk. Pretty clean, and location is decent too. Atmosphere is totally lacklustre, the the downstairs bar infringing on the ability of patrons to socialise and no real effort on the part of the hostel to create good vibes for the patrons in the evenings. Also having a mattress on the floor of more-or-less a corridor wasn't the coolest.

Cool little place right in the centre of Athens - location is a dream for checking out the Acropolis and other juicy sights. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and enjoyable to talk to. A few little areas to socialise which was nice, and a good crew of travellers coming through. Atmosphere was pretty cool. Air conditioners were a saving grace in the summer heat! No kitchen facilities, which wasn't a problem for us, but could be for others for sure. Would definitely stay here again.

A total gem. Run by the helpful, jovial and endlessly generous Beni, this place has an unrivalled quality of atmosphere, especially in the evenings. Free breakfasts, both huge and delicious, and incredibly cheap dinners come from the well equipped kitchen so your meals are mostly taken care of. Location is a big walk uphill from the centre but 100% worth it for the spectacular sunset views. Every night the hostel comes together downstairs to drink, socialise and play ruthless card games. A gem.

Prime location only a couple minutes walk from the beach. Young family-run hostel, still under renovation but showing signs of a very successful future. Only about 12 beds, but filled to the brim with mostly solo travellers, which combines well with the beachy interior design to create a real chilled out atmosphere. Lockers in rooms for valuables. Free breakfast too is a huge plus. Staff are super nice, and happily give recommendations for nearby beaches and places to eat. Would fosho recommend.

Pretty little hostel on the Gorican side of the river and within walking distance of the sights in Berat. Really cool, conversational staff, with a lot to offer in terms of area knowledge. Clean and tidy dorms and bathrooms, however, be careful of the insects if the windows are left open at night. Really only lacklustre in security, with no locks on the doors and a front door to the property left open the majority of the time. Lots of comfortable, relaxed social areas. Good times.

Great family hostel located only five minutes at a brisk pace from Skanderbeg statue. Staff are super friendly, helpful, and eager to get you on the waterfall tour (which is totally worth it). Clean dorms and bathrooms, decently equipped kitchen and an abundance of places to sit and chill during the heat or in the evening. Fairly secure, with individual lockers at your disposal. Really social atmosphere, good people around.

Nice place about a 15/20 minute walk from the old town. Valentin is a friendly fellow, keen to look after his customers and happy to offer suggestions for the cities. Rooms are spacious each with a mini-kitchen with a fridge and a bathroom. Security is a little lacklustre, with few locked doors and no individual keys. Larger kitchen facilities are manageable but lacking in equipment and quality. Not exactly an hostel for meeting other travellers. Great value for money though, very cheap.

Tasty family run hostel in Skopje. Decent 20+ minute walk to the centre of the city. Rooms are tight but the place is neat and tidy and there is a great outdoor area for socialising with other travellers, of which there are surprisingly many. Owner is friendly and incredibly helpful, and will offer up the occasional rakija or wine in the evening too. Facilities aren't great but manageable, bathrooms aren't in amazing shape either. Well worth the price though, perfectly cheap. Would come back.

Seriously good value hostel. Spacious dorms, excellent kitchen facilities and well maintained bathrooms. Attached bar has a wicked atmosphere, with bilingual and super conversational employees, incredibly affordable beers and bar food, and more than enough seating, whether in a social or solitary situation. Free lockers for valuables, free towels, and a map and explanation of how to best tackle the city, which is a bit of a walk. Extended my stay without a second thought. Highly recommended.

Wicked, wicked hostel. Definitely head to this little gem to experience the unending hilarity and theatrics of Kokolo and Fedja. Located in he heart Kotor's old town, a stone's throw from all the beautiful churches and literally across the plaza from the best jazz bar in town; the Evergreen. Facilities are excellent; fully equipped kitchens, comfortable beds in spacious rooms, and large lockers free of charge. Rooms are incredibly secure too - three locked doors between the street and the rooms.

Definitely a comparatively cheap bed in Dubrovnik, but you're also getting what you pay for. Incredibly interactive host, although a little overboard at times and under-professionally managed - an entire bedroom covered in mattresses with no space for movement is probably not legitimate. Welcoming atmosphere, with the occasional coffee or iced water but at times an uncomfortable atmosphere as I generally felt like an intruder in someone else's home. Not exactly close to the Old Town either.

Incredibly good value-for-money hostel. Hilarious, friendly women running the joint (and providing much assistance blended with many, many jokes), located right outside Barscarsija and easy walking distance from all the major attractions. Affordable rooms brought about a really cool atmosphere, lots of travellers, wicked environment. Bathrooms are really, really small. Beds relatively comfortable. Kitchen facilities are pretty lacklustre but Sarajevo is so cheap so for me this was irrelevant.

This is not a hostel for the deliberately socially disconnected. Hostel Lika is by far the most welcoming, most personally engaging, and most enjoyable interactive experience I've had in any hostel so far. Marco and Ilona genuinely care about the quality of your experience and hilariously force you to become part of the amazing social atmosphere. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, well-maintained bathrooms. No kitchens, but food prices are equally cheap to eat out, with quality places nearby.

Great little student hostel a short walk from the centre of Ljubljana. Super secure with massive lockers, tidy, spacious dorms and clean bathrooms. Staff are friendly and more than willing to help out. Kitchen is small and lacking in facilities, but there is a large communal area downstairs with plenty of couches and a pool table. Perfect for a decent night sleep in one of the greenest, most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe. Would recommend.

Great little joint. Clean, in both bathrooms and dorms, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast is good but a little lacking in sustenance. Not particularly close to the center, but only a short ride on the metro and you're at the Colosseum. Didn't have the opportunity to sample the kitchen or communal space but they looked alright too. Decent value for money in the expensive environment of Rome.

Hands down best hostel on the path so far. Location is less touristy and close to accessible Metro system. Wicked vibes in almost every single chiller working there, friendly crowd too. Facilities are well maintained, rooftop terrace and basement provide a chilled social environment. Every day and every night there is something going on in this joint and all patrons are given the opportunity to take part. Stay here if you are looking for a raucous time. Would definitely recommend.

Best hostel of my trip so far. Cool staff that guaranteed will party harder than the patrons, and if you are looking for a good time, will welcome you into the scene more warmly than any I've experienced so far. Free full English breakfasts speak for themselves. Dinner is £3 if you want some of the delicious creations of staff members cooking up large batches of deliciousness. Place is clean enough and is ridiculously good value for money. Would recommend very, very highly for the solo traveler.

Pretty cool joint. Tidy rooms, clean bathrooms and lockable cages under the bed for belongings. Friendly staff, decent selection for free breakfasts, and located close enough to the Latin Quarter if you are looking for a bit of nightlife. Potentially not the easiest place for solo travellers to connect with others but since I was with friends I had no problems. Would recommend.

Really cool aesthetic to the hostel. Hammock room is awesome concept but so difficult to find a time when it's empty. Had a huge school group of obnoxious French students who were not remotely hostel savvy. Atmosphere took a beating as a result. Not really the best vibes for the solo traveller. Free breakfasts were pretty good, and sufficient facilities for cooking dinners. Close proximity to all the happenings of Dublin so everything is an easy walk away. Generally pleasant staff too.
Hi there, thanks a million for the review. Apologies you found the french group so unpleasant. Cheers, Yvonne

Great vibes here. Plenty of travellers ready to party. Wicked fun pub crawl on Fridays and Saturdays. Located in the North Quarter, close to many of the cool tourist attractions, plus a bunch of bars, teahouses and cafes, restaurants and the Piccadilly Station. Pretty good facilities and quite clean and tidy. Staff were great too. Would recommend.

Fair walk out of the city centre. Decent facilities and fairly keen, but nothing fancy. Very quiet hostel, weirdly minimal atmosphere and it didn't seem like many people were actually there at all. Very little security and doors that didn't close without brute force. Cardiff itself is a fairly underwhelming city so that probably added to the less than amazing experience.

Location is excellent, walking distance from all the great stuff in the small city of Bath. Kitchen consists of two microwaves, so pretty lacklustre considering how expensive food is in this area. Friendly staff, empty rooms, alright if you're after some peace and quiet but not for the more social hostel goers. No lockers so take your valuables with you on your daytrips. Rooms are clean and tidy but mine was pervaded by a pretty intense body odour that lingered the three nights I was there.
Many thanks for your comments. There are lockers for dormitories, for the dormitory you were in they are on the landing. Not to much we can do about the odour, it has to go naturally. It can get quiet in the dorms, but it depends on the time of year and day of the week, normally very busy Friday and Saturdays when most people travel. We also have six dorms, so it could be that they are spread out between dorms.

Great, great vibes here. The vibrancy of the space, with two excellent socialising areas and a fully equipped kitchen, is a brilliant change. The staff are super friendly, and it's easy enough to lock up your valuables with them at the office. Accessible location, and the bowling alley/bar downstairs caters to anyone looking for a good time with as little walking as possible. Everything's clean and well maintained, and free breakfast is always a plus. Would highly recommend.

Cheap as dirt, well worth the money. Unbelievably far from anything in Liverpool though. Friendly staff, fairly well maintained environment and a cool bunch of fellow hostel patrons. Security lacking - not enough lockers to go around, so not the best choice if you're carrying valuables. Still would recommend to anyone looking to save a few bucks.

Aesthetically, a great hostel. Equipped with a filthy kitchen that was in an awful condition for the duration of our stay. Fairly friendly staff, discounts on beers at the bar downstairs, but lacking a lounge or chillout area for travellers, so the atmosphere was somewhat lacking. Also, really not that close to the major attractions and the public transport system in Edinburgh is not great, so a tiny bit too much walking for my liking. Almost no security for valuables. Beautifully cheap though.

Legitimately good hostel. Hugely crowded and security was a bit questionable, but more than understandable considering the location. Same goes with the price. For where it was, I can't imagine much better quality within a small budget. Most staff were totally affable, but a few lacking social interaction skills. Hilarious crowd, close in proximity via the tube to a bunch of the major attractions, and a generally pleasant experience. Would recommend!

Incredible views. One kitchen per floor, so at least 100 people using the same small space. Inadequate washing facilities - one machine and one dryer for the whole hostel. Took me three nights to get an opportunity to wash my clothes, and on the third, after leaving my clothing with staff for over 7 hours, I woke up an hour before my departing flight and my clothing was not dry. Some staff were friendly, but most were cold and unhelpful. Looks good, but unwelcoming and lacking in facilities.

Excellent location. Unhelpful and distant staff. Great, clean facilities and a comfortable bed with a television: a nice touch. No real area for people to socialise, which is fairly necessary for a solo stay in NY. Weird atmosphere, no real pleasure in staying in the environment other than the well maintained facilities. Probably wouldn't recommend.
