Great hostel - super big double beds were greatly appreciated and powerful AC too :) Pool was decent, bike hire for $60/day and location was good for beach, ruins and cenotes. Basic continental breakfast which did the job and vegetarian kitchen.

Very convenient for bus stations and not far (15/20 minute walk) to Centre. Pool was fab, pretty quiet otherwise but spacious rooms and beds. No drinking water available which is just a bit annoying but for the price can't complain. Lockable rooms would also be a bonus...

Breakfast was INSANE, very grateful for the powerful air con in the rooms, comfy beds, and good showers. 10 min walk to ADO bus station, 5 min walk to bus stop for Zona Hotelera and 5 mins from Parque. Brill!

Great location right by the entrance to the National Park and the pool is a God-send. Staff were helpful enough, rooms clean enough (given it's a tropical climate and you're in the jungle), bathrooms spotless. No kitchen facilities so if you don't want to eat at the restaurants around, make sure you bring some food from Palenque town.

5-10 minute walk from the centre of San Cristobal, lovely rooms, great facilities. Very homely atmosphere - definitely not a party hostel but lovely all the same. Staff were helpful and let me have breakfast and a shower when I arrived early on the morning of my reservation. Comfy (and sturdy!!) bunk beds for once.

Great location, rooftop terrace is beautiful, well-equipped kitchen and very chill vibe. Not a party hostel but plenty of sociable, international, interesting fun people - definitely the best part about this hostel! Also Iguana has super comfy beds - best of my trip so far.

Excellent location, helpful staff, well-equipped kitchen and great value for money. Love the art work and the dorms were spacious and comfy. Bathrooms were only let down and it had more of a hotel than hostel feel so socialising wasn't top of most people's priorities. Would recommend if you're looking for a chilled, cheap, central base :)

Hostel Zocalo, Mexico City, Mexico

30th Jul 2017

Perfect location, lovely terrace, super clean, good facilities for cooking, friendly and helpful staff! Definitely not a party hostel but there's a friendly atmosphere. Only downsides: not that secure - no room keys, but lockable lockers. On the 6th floor so secure in that sense I guess. Also it gets locked around 10pm. You can buzz and the staff are meant to let you in, but unfortunately for us no-one was to be found and so after 15 mins a kindly soul took pity and let us in...

Hostel Mundo Joven Catedral, Mexico City, Mexico

Location is almost unbeatable, pretty clean, friendly place with perfectly decent staff. Breakfast overlooking the Zocalo is lovely (and freeeee) and a good way to meet people. Real mix of travellers here - everyone seems to be here for different reasons. Rooftop bar is totally worth a visit - buzzing atmosphere and stunning views. Rooms slightly dated and bunk beds pretty rickety but didn't detract from our stay.

The Tent Munich, Munich, Germany

People and atmosphere here were great - staff were helpful, food was cheap and really sociable place. Bathrooms and kitchen were clean and good facilities. HOWEVER we paid €15 a night which was the cheapest in Munich at short notice and it still seemed a lot. The blankets and mattresses were very suspect, and fortunately some of us had brought bedding and sleeping bags. Quite far out of town, although conveniently next to Schloss Nymphenberg so good for walking round.
