The Pit Stop Hostel

Medellin, Colombia

Big place with all the facilities you can imagine, even a basketball court! The hostel can hold a lot of people though it was quiet when I was there. The only downside was the location, ten minutes from parque lleras where all the action is, though its closest of all the hostels to the metro. Have stayed in better in Medellin.

Great location. Hostel is treated like a hotel, it's spotless and the staff are very helpful even with us arriving at 2am. Lovely terraced bar over looking the street and pool table. One of the better places in Medellin to stay. Will be back once in Medellin again.

Lima Limon Candelaria Hostel

Bogota, Colombia
100%

A home away from home. I didn't feel like sightseeing and I just chilled out at Lima limon. A small comfortable place in La Candelaria where you can rest well and enjoy your time there and the big plus being that its so small you get to know everyone the comes through the door! It'll be the only place I stay if I go back to Bogota!

only stayed one night, but it ticked off everything that I wanted. Beds were comfortable, lockers under the beds are always handy. Showers were hot. The Living room was comfortable and always warm with lots of DVD's to choose from. Only thing was, it could have done with a sofa in the living room as opposed to lots of bean bags. Breakfast was good, I was glad to see cereal. Staff were helpful and very nice welcoming me, they never forget your name also! Would defo come again.

Lovely place to stay in Puerte Ayora. 10mins walk to town or $1 in a taxi. Hostel is new and spotless. Beds comfortable, bathrooms clean with hot water. 2 minimarkets close by. Kitchenette is room is really handy. Kevin the owner is very welcoming with great humour. Make sure to take him up on his offer of the free walking tour of the town. Very helpful and funny!

Lovely hostel with comfortable beds. Bathrooms were clean. Kitchen facilities but didn't use them. Breakfast that wee included varied each daily are we're delicious. A big plus for us was the travel agency dealing in Galapagos tours. Chris has a great knowledge or the islands dealing with all the cruise ships. A one stop shop for booking last minute with all the info that you need rather than trawling through the Internet.

Loki del Mar

Mancora, Peru

Great place to stay. 6 bed dorms are super comfy, hot water all the time too. Staff were helpful and ever attentive. Bar was always hopping, good menu a bit sparse in comparison to Loki La Paz. You can chill out if you want even though its a party hostel. Immaturity of some of the guests did get to me at some stages so maybe not for everyone who wants to drink drink drink drink each and every day. An observation, not a criticism.

Nice play to stay, good beds, beers and fun! With a name like Wild Rover and the great reputation that it has, it should go one step further than the other hostels of Peru and South America, ditch the bread and jam for something more appealing as the free breakfast, a toaster, hard boiled eggs, cereals, juices etc. only a suggestion, not a negative comment! Stay here!

Hostel Empedrado

Mendoza, Argentina

Lovely hostel, 5 mins walk from main street. lovely and warm on cold nights. empanada making and wine tasting for free are a great idea. breakfast has to be the best in Argentina thats for sure. Beds are comfortable and rooms have large lockers with plugs sockets in them (dont forget to plug in the heater a few hours before going to bed though). Only thing negative, can you change the cleaning times for the bathrooms? First thing in the morning can 'bursting time' for some guests :)

great hostel which is clean, has comfortable beds, good kitchen, great roof terrace for BBQing, having a drink or just chilling out. Its a ten min walk to the main streets and sights. staff couldnt have been nicer, especially Eugenia, who was so helpful and nice, even including me in dinner one night as I was travelling alone! :) would highly recommend!

Lime House Youth Hostel

Buenos Aires, Argentina

nice hostel, great location, staff are friendly too. moved to Lime from a party hostel that had no character and was very 'clicky'. Lime was quieter, nice to chill out and actually meet people there. would recommend to single traveller as opposed to going to recommended BA party hostels! kitchen was well equiped, bar was handy to have at reception, you can also do you own washing in the machine/dryer each day which is great opposed to paying sometimes huge prices for someone else to do so.

party hostel. if you want to relax even for a second this is not the place for you. it was clean, dorms were large with a cage for your valuables. bunkbed was okay. immature party hostel. your a number there not a person. staff were average. couldnt wait to get out to go to a smaller hostel. good location though.

Beautiful building to arrive at early in the morning. Very comfortable private room and clean bathrooms. Dinner each night is delicious nice outdoor area too. Bring cash to Punta as there's no ATMs in the village. Would love to go back and chill out with the beach so close and the town also. Staff were very helpful and welcoming too!

great location right on the beach but its not Florianopolis, Santa Catarina Island instead, 2 bus rides from the rodoviaria. Rooms were spotless and comfortable, in the privates anyways. The dinner in the evening was great as was the company there. Would highly recommend. Make sure to take a day to visit Logoainha De Leste at the south of the island.

Hey Hostel

Sao Paulo, Brazil

very close to Faria Lima metro station, follow the directions and its easy. The area didnt seem the best at night on first glance but it was fine after a short stroll around. Hostel is new (8mths) when i visited but has everything you would want (sockets in lockers and swipe cards for the rooms even). Breakfast could have been better but that can be improved on easily. Staff were great, very helpful in getting me around the city.

great location, takes about 19seconds to walk from the bus station and the supermarket across the road. the breakfast has been the best ive had in brazil and possibly ever. the builind is cosy and home feeling. Pablo and the staff are very helpful. He also has another hostel in the town so if its full there he can recommend another place of the same calibur. Highly recommend staying there in Paraty.

Biergarten Hostel

Ilha Grande, Brazil
77%

Hostel is newish, clean and in a good location. Beds are a bit small in height so it's quite difficult to get into the bottom bunk if your tall. Breakfast was good, but the usual as I have had in brazil. A sandwich toaster, eggs and saugage is a nice touh that could be added to it. The island is a quiet place and more is more suited for coupled and people wanting to chill out. I would recommend.

Hostel Galeria 13

Salvador, Brazil

Great hostel, great location and great breakfast, one of the best yet in Brazil. Happy hour caipirinhas everyday is a great way to start your evenings. The pool is great to relax in as is the chill out room. Sundays are quiet in Salvador so leave that day to see the many churches and museums on the walking tour they organise. Party night is Tuesday night and is a definite must for anyone wanting to experience bahian culture!

83%

rooms are clean and beds were comfortable. lockers big enough for a maybe two 30L bags. breakfast is minimal but gets you through till lunch time. only downside would be the size of the bathrooms, quiet small. one addition that could be made would be rubber mats so that it keeps your feet off the ground, easier to clean and you wont slip. definitely would recommend the jungle tour and the added bonuses of free nights stay depending on your time in the jungle is very welcomed.

couldnt have nicer things to say about horizon. spent the majority of my time in fiji on the islands but needlesstosay evertime i stayed there, the staff knew my name, willing to help, and the chef cooks a mean dinner. highly recommened for island hopping with the travel centre there and a good base to have.
