Vip House, The Garden, Cusco, Peru

The open plan setup of this hostel is great when it's warm, but for cusco's chilly climate it's frustrating to not really have anywhere properly enclosed to chill out, especially as the wifi doesn't work in the rooms. Lacking in atmosphere, very quiet, and the kitchen is one of the worst I've seen! So small and underequipped. Also ran out of bottled water. Breakfast is a plus! Ok for the price but wouldn't stay again.

I stayed here for one night and decided not to stay longer - really lacking in atmosphere at the weekend, though I guess that's luck of the draw! The staff let me leave my bag before check in. Breakfast v basic, kitchen far too small and underequipped, bar quite expensive and empty! No booze allowed in, and no lock on the front door so anyone can walk in. Price wise I guess it's ok!

Great hostel for those after a quieter time in arequipa. The staff can organise loads of trips (recommend the 2 day Cusco canyon), and they seem to cater more to travellers who have early starts! We were told to leave to drink after midnight but this was great when I was up early! Good location, basic breakfast, good showers, great outdoor area and a cute dog you can walk! Would definitely recommend.

Small, lively party hostel. Breakfast is good and wifi is strong, and the showers were always steaming! There's a lovely roof terrace for drinks and lots of music etc. They organise a lot of trips too which is nice. Would recommend!

Lovely, lively hostel in a charming location in the heart of Cerro Concepcion. Great location for exploring and seeing some amazing views. There was live music and poetry when I was there. Staff are great! Could do with some more bathrooms/showers, and kitchen is a bit small. Overall would recommend!

Ostinatto is in a great location for exploring San Telmo. It's a massive hostel with a good bar and small roof terrace. Breakfast is good. Would stay again!

Reasonable hostel for the price. Very secure with key fob provided for outer and inner doors. The wifi was very patchy when I was there and the staff didn't seem to be able to sort it! Bathrooms could do with some updating and maintenance. Located close to tube stops.

Big hostel in a good location for San Telmo. Plenty of spaces to chill and loads of bathrooms so I never had to wait! The roof terrace is a great bonus but the bar is a bit expensive considering you can't bring your own booze. Kitchen facility is tiny for the hostel size.

This is a great hostel! Perfect central location, great facilities like laundry, wifi, info services, kitchen, bar and good free breakfast. Staff are really helpful and the place was always buzzing. It's huge so plenty of space to find some quiet time too. The bar could be a bit more favourably priced as you're not allowed to bring booze in, and the fan in the room didn't stop it from being a bit stuffy.

This is a good value hostel for el calafate, pricey as any in this area. It's a sweet place but they charge a deposit for things like cutlery (!!!) Which seems to be the practice here! Be careful of exchange rates too - not favourable

This is a great hostel in a lovely suburban location. The staff are fantastic and there are lots of activities if you want to take part. It's a bus ride from the centre which is worth considering but overall, can't recommend enough :D

I really enjoyed my week's stay at Gion Ryokan Q-Beh. The traditional layout is fantastic, and the security box and small table in the room was really welcome. The location is great, right in the old town! This definitely isn't a party hostel, but there are a few good social spaces to use if you are travelling as a group. The kitchen is well-equipped and the staff are so helpful, they helped me with directions, bike hire, bus bookings - the works! Very impressed and would definitely recommend.

Unplan Kagurazaka, Tokyo, Japan
8.3
12th Jan 2017

Unplan is a trendy and modern new hostel that's been open for about a year. It's spotlessly clean, the showers are blissful and the free breakfast is a great bonus. Location is quiet and residential, but v convenient direct transport links to most places. The staff are great but perhaps could know a bit more about transport links etc - they were more than happy to find out things, but didn't have a lot of answers offhand. The bar is a bit pricey, and security boxes are very small.

This small hostel is in a great central location right at Causeway Bay. The staff are kind and welcoming and speak great English. There's a well equipped kitchen with access to free tea and coffee, hot and cold water etc. Rooms are small and basic but kept very clean. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops to explore and great transport links to the rest of the city. Overall great hostel for exploring HK.

This is a great budget hostel for the price. The locker in the shared dorm was broken, but there were others out in the corridor - a bit less secure though. I moved into a private room on my second night, this was very quiet and did the job. For me, the hostel was just a base to leave my things and I spent most of my time exploring Berlin. The downstairs seating/bar area always had people in it. Thanks!
