Casa Fischer Hostal, Valparaiso, Chile

A very chill hostal located in the heart of the Concepcion Cerro. Not super social but the staff is composed of a a bunch of young volunteers who are very knowledgeable about the town. They offer a basic free breakfast & have tons of advice on the activities in valpo. It's a neat spot to chill out.

A nice hostal in the barrio providencia, conveniently located right near a metro stop, making it easy to get around town. A great price considering they offer free breakfast(all you can eat) and a basic free dinner. Cleanliness isn't their strongest quality but for the price it's alright. A decent atmosphere and the staff takes everyone out to the clubs on Wednesday's. Rooms are a bit cramped but they offer large lockers for your packs.

I was only here one night to break up the journey to San Pedro from Peru. Overall, a very nice and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is super chill & helpful. There is a very basic free breakfast and they will keep your bags for the day if you have a late bus. The dorm is uniquely organized with no bunk beds so everyone gets a bottom bunk with an outlet, reading light, & lockers. Great hostal and even better price compared to other places in town.

Didn't spend too much here as I was just passing by. They offer free breakfast including fruit, bread, tea & instant coffee. The rooms are a bit cramped but good enough for a night.

My friend and I shared a double bed at the hostal for the two nights we were in aguas calientes. Like everything in this town it's a bit pricey but the quality wasn't compromised like at other hostals. They give you a bagged breakfast the night before you leave for the ruins if you intend to leave before breakfast time. Beds are super comfy, a nice way to rest your legs after a long day of walking. And they also have TV. Not very social but overall ok for two nights. More of a hotel vibe.

Pariwana Hostel Cusco, Cusco, Peru

A very largehostal right near plaza de armas and all the main bars/ restaurants in Cusco. It's a party hostal but the way it's organized also makes it easy to not be disturbed by the noise. They let you keep your bags in a very secure storage room while your away. I was also a big fan of the variety of breakfast choices (&it's a buffet style breakfast). Plus they have tons of common rooms to relax or do some trip planning. My only issue was the staff was a bit disinterested in helping you.

Overall, a nice & cheap hostal! It's a bit removed from the center of town but the walk isn't too bad. The hostal owner is super friendly and helpful in explaining the different activities/ tours in town. There isn't much of an atmosphere to meet other travelers as there are no big common areas. It's cheap and nice!

Tu onda Beach Hostel Cartagena, Cartagena, Colombia

The Tu Onda staff was wonderful and very accomadating. I stayed there two nights in a private room and the service was above and beyond. The location is about a 15 minute walk from the old town, but you can always take a taxi in. The walk isn't too bad, but can be a bit sketchy in the evening. Overall, I had an excellent time at this hostel and would definitely recommend.
