Excellent old town location, helpful staff, clean. Not a party hostel, quiet hours from 11pm, mix of ages staying, good facilities

If I could give 100/10 I would. This is an absolute gem. Set in mangroves but you can swim from the pier once the tide is in. Free bikes to cycle to beach. Easy day trips to the islands or Koh Yao. Bioluminent plankton to swim with at night. Owner Olli is an absolute gem and both his volunteers and kitchen staff are clearly really happy working here. Great food, very reasonable prices. We met loads of guests who were so happy to find this place after loads of time in Thailand. Do not hesitate!

Lovely hostel, with small but very nice garden. Really lovely night Watchman. It's not very sociable but the free cooking class is fun. No beer sold on site - also not allowed to buy beer and consume onsite. Crowd was mostly older (older 20s upwards). Great location for Sunday walking st. Double ensuite room very nice, very clean but issue with the damp air from ensuite which leaves a smell in room, and did affect asthma. No windows in bedroom/ ensuite.

Great hostel, great staff with excellent English, onsen is lovely (I used the outdoor one, they have indoor and outdoor onsen, each open at different times every night). There is a small shop across the road, with a pub next door that does great and cheap food. Very clean kitchen facilities. we had a private room - privates are Japanese style with mats on floors.

Great hostel, spotless clean facilities with excellent security and great privacy in dorm beds (private curtains, lights, sockets etc. Staff were great, even let me check in early after an early flight. Fantastic free tour on Thursday night, great way to meet people, lovely guide. The social area is on ground floor entrance and as there is no bar etc it's maybe a bit difficult to meet others in this hostel if travelling alone, so I'd suggest signing up to one of the free activities.

Not great. Disappointed. Found staff very disengaged, only time they tried to engage was to badger us to pay 24 hours before we were due to check out. Room was fine, and clean. Kitchen was dirty, very poor equipment (no handles on frying pans, hardly any cutlery, no where to store food, poorly set up). Showers were never even slightly warm, tried at different times during the day but solar heating must not be working. It was cheap, that was the best thing

Lovely view from balcony Good safe location, excellent security, really good restaurants nearby - try Vevo Telo for breakfast/ lunch at the bottom of the hill. xcellent twin room, high ceiling, lots of space. Only hostel we stayed in that is properly lit during the usual blackouts - they had lights/ candles in bathrooms, stairs, everywhere. Very nicely laid out

Great staff at check in, gave us maps, ideas of where to eat, great tour, etc. Had a double ensuite - huge room and huge bathroom. There is a pool, bbq area, lovely garden, bar area, etc. However, there is no alcohol sold on site.
Hi Aisling, thanks for your lovely review, we appreciate it. We're going to try and get a liqueur licence, but in the meantime, we're really happy for guests to bring their own wine and beer into the bar and enjoy the facilities (and it's cheaper!), pool table, fridges etc. Hope to see you again some time. We booked a double ensuite, had a HUGE room! Kitchens are good. The couple who own the place were so incredibly helpful, we got ideas about what to do in Oudshoorn (we originally were just using it as a break in driving - but there was loads to do). Gave us ideas abotu going to Buffelsdrift for breakfast, what drives to do, hot springs to visit, and helped us plan lots. So helpful. Try the Cinnamin buns! Was sorry to only have time to stay one night.

This hostel is run by volunteers as staff, they are wonderful, but the owner did not even speak to us. We booked a twin room and ended up in a raised tent in the garden for 2 days. The hostel is not really clean and was very cold (it was winter). The area is secure, but this was the only hostel we stayed in in SA where someone could come in and access the gardens/ tents/ back door straight from the road as there is no fencing or security. Worst of all the hostels we stayed in in SA

We were only staying in PE for the night, booked this as it was close to airport, only 5 minute drive, very easy to find. However we arrived during a blackout (very common, most areas have a few hours a week of no electric as the grid cannot supply to everywhere) and there were no lights what so ever in the car park area, or on the steps and walk up to the hostel, it was very uncomfortable and felt a bit scary, was quite difficult to even find the door. Hostel needs emergency lighting!
