The Backpack Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa

Had a double room with ensuite, however was in a converted attic. This meant , the room was stifling hot, and the windows had no fly screens so we were bitten by mozzies. We didn't get a fan in the room until the 3rd night. Hostel was however located in a convenient spot - was within a short drive all major attractions eg. Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront. Was also on the main road that connects over to Camps Bay, so an easy drive out of the city to explore Cape Point and the beaches

Thank you for the review. We are glad that you were happy with the location of the hostl. It is close enough to everything you want to see, but far away enough that you can have a good nights sleep. We are sorry that you room was a little on the hot side, we are currently looking into putting air-cons into those rooms, but for now if a guest is too hot, we will give them a fan. It is unfortunate that you only received your fan 3 days int your stay. Kind Regards The Backpack Team

Had a great stay. Chin was excellent. Everytime we came back to the hostel, whether from exploring the cit y or a trip to Halong Bay and Sapa, we were given tea, fruit plates. One night Chin and his staff cookraled a free Vietnamese meal for us with other guests all being shouted dinnere. Also includes free breakfasts which were great. Chin also helped us organise tours to Halong Bay and Sapa which we would recommend. Great location, right on the lake in the old Quarter

A very nice place. Staff were very helpful. Good location not too far from the city (actually right on the way from the train station to the city centre), and only 10km in a cab to the Chengdu Panda Research Centre. Nice central courtyard area to relax in & meet other travellers.

Convenient location opposite a Metro station with just a short Metro ride in to Shanghai's central attractions. Staff were quite helpful as well.

Located in Little India - makes for a fun & interesting walk into downtown Singapore that we enjoyed doing on the way to Singapore's attractions. There are also stacks of inexpensive eating options around Little India. Able to be reached from Lavendar MRT station which connects to the airport.

Pop Inn Hostel, Rome, Italy

No lockers for your bags - bring a combination lock and cord to tie it to the bed, although there are security buzzers to get to the rooms. A very convenient location right opposite Termini Station, although the people hanging on the street outside the hostel and near the station are pretty dodgie (but really a problem you see right round the Termini area). They give you breakfast, although it is a voucher for the Travel Cafe a few doors down the road, and all you get is a croissant and juice/coffee (not very filling!) If you are after location though, go for it as it is smack bang near the station and excellent for transport connections.

Location is great for the ferry terminal as it is basically opposite (was very easy to get across to Capri). Security was good, with lockers able to accommodate full size packs. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and they have free internet there which is very good. A good breakfast was served as well.

Great location - an easy walk down the hill into Florence and right next the Michaelangelo lookout. Security is good, with staff checking camping passes to make sure there are no dodgies on the site, although bring a combination lock to tie your pack down to your bed if leaving your pack in a tent for the day

The directions given on the site are dodgie.... (but hey, it's Venice, and the whole place is a maze). The room though was excellent, with only 3 beds and a clean ensuite, it was basically a little apartment. There was a kitchen, but no pots/pans/utensils, so it was useless! Once you find it though, the location near the Campo is excellent, with a good vibe at night (lots of locals in the Campo and good cafes/pizza shops nearby)

No security lockers for packs etc.in the room. It's a fare hike up the hill from the centre of town, so make sure they give you an accurate map with bus details. Excellent free internet access (about 12 computers) and a huge bar (although this is away from the sleeping rooms so it shouldn't be a problem if it's too noisy for you if you're trying to sleep)
