Highroad Hostel DC, Washington DC, USA

The cleanest and most spacious hostel I have stayed in. The facility is really nice and the rooms/kitchen are not cramped. There is a social atmosphere, lots of games, and several communal meals prepared each week. That said, its not too crazy either and they enforce quiet hours. The one negative thing I would say is that it would maybe not be the best for a tourist who wants to go to the major sightseeing destinations. It is a far walk to the metro. But it is right on a little commercial strip

Wow, thanks so much for giving us a 10 out of 10 in cleanliness and our atmosphere. Having spotless facilities and a comfortable environment are things we give high priority to. However, it sounds like we didn't deliver on providing some useful tips and information about our amazing neighborhood of Adams Morgan. We purposely located our hostel here so our guests can enjoy the sightseeing attractions during the day and come back to a fantastic local spot for restaurants, bars, and boutique shops. We hope you talked to some of our local team members who have encyclopedic knowledge about our city and how to navigate it. The closest metro is only a 10 - 15 minute walk or a short bus ride away. We think its important for travelers to truly see D.C. and explore beyond the Mall Area!! Please let us know how we can improve on providing the best information about our location! Thanks again for staying with us and we hope we can WOW you in the future. -Miyuki and the HighRoad Hostel DC Team

Its a great, clean place, with a nice atmosphere. Each 4 person room has its own private en-suite bathroom. The location is just a couple minutes walk from the metro, so you can get to manhattan in about 20 min, but there isnt much around the place itself in walkable distance (but I did get some tasty Indian food!) The staff were friendly and helpful, they printed my bus ticket for me, and the free beer/wine encourages people to go and chat in the bar. Its not particularly cheap, but its NYC.

The place is quiet, only a few other people were around the night I stayed there. She doesn't give you a key so you have to ring the bell every time you come back, but she seems to always be there. The place was clean and new. Very simple breakfast of cereal and toast.
