Jordan Tower Hostel

Amman, Jordan
91%

I've stayed at the Jordan Tower Hotel on two occasions and I think this place offers excellent value for your money. The rooms are simple but clean. They have A/C (at least the private rooms do). The breakfast is awesome and delicious. The location is smack down in the middle of downtown Amman, so the main attractions are within walking distance. The only drawback is that the constant traffic around the hotel creates a lot of noise, so light sleepers (like me) should definitely bring ear plugs.

Mojzo inn

Nha Trang, Vietnam
91%

The hostel is located less than 5 minutes from the beach and the night life. And there are plenty of bars, cafés, and restaurants a stone's throw away. So you can walk everywhere you need to go! The staff makes this place what it is, though! The girls working at reception are so energetic and enthusiastic that I wonder where they get all that energy. They always greet you by name and are always smiling, eager to help you with anything or answer any questions you may have. Great place to stay!

Hoa My Hotel

Hoi An, Vietnam
91%

The location is good, as the old town is within walking distance and you have a number of cheap restaurants located nearby. The staff is nice and always smiling. They do try to push you to book tours or get some tailoring done when you check-in, but after that there is no hassle over this. The room was spacious, with a queen size bed. The bathroom is nice and clean, with a bathtub/shower, the first I've encountered in Vietnam so far. The Hoa My II hotel is a solid budget option in Hoi An!

Waterland Hotel

Hue, Vietnam
89%

The Waterland Hotel is in a dodgy-looking alley, and from the outside it doesn't necessarily inspire much confidence. Once inside, you do realize that the hotel offers great value! Okay, so the rooms might not be as nice as what you see on the online pics and there is some wear and tear (light fixture broken in my bathroom, missing handles on the some of the furniture, leaking valve on the toilet). But at 15$ for a queen size bed, a big room, a nice bathroom, and the A/C), you can't complain!

Long Hostel

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

I stayed in a double room with A/C for only 20$. It was simple but clean and all I needed. The family service is warm and friendly, as they really look after their guests. Breakfast was different every morning and everything they served was quite tasty. The location is smack-down in the middle of the backpackers' area, close to basically everything. The Long Hostel offers terrific service and friendly hospitality, and I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Saigon!

Yesinn @CAUSEWAY BAY

Hong Kong, Hong Kong
83%

This hostel offers good value! The location is awesome, what with the A11 airport bus stopping just across the street and the Causeway Bay MTR station just around the corner. The Wan Chai Star Ferry terminal is also within walking distance, as are plenty of restaurants and cafés. The staff is friendly and helpful. But the hostel itself lacks common areas to make it easy for travelers to meet and mingle. The common room is tiny and I guess this wasn't the season for the rooftop terrace. . .

Dream House Hostel

Kiev, Ukraine
100%

I've stayed in well over 100 hostels in 50 different countries, and the Dream House hostel definitely ranks among the very best! It's clean, modern, with a great location a few minutes away from the metro and within walking distance from most of the top tourist attractions in Kiev. The dorm was spacious and the bed very comfortable. But it's the staff that really makes a difference. The Dream Girls working at the reception are friendly and knowledgeable and help you make the most of your stay!

The Babushka Grand Hostel

Odessa, Ukraine
83%

The Babushka Grand Hostel feels more like sharing a grand old flat with other travelers than a regular hostel. It's a nice place to chill at, very laid-back. Maybe a little too laid-back, though. I was there for a Friday and a Saturday night, and there were no "going out" activities organized by the hostel. Which I found a little disappointing. They are working on this, they said. . . The staff is very friendly, insuring good vibes around the clock. Great location, near the train station.

Owner Comment (Hide)
I'm sorry about your disappointment so we have worked on it and now we now have scheduled barbecues on wednesdays and sundays, a weekly burritos and beer party on friday or saturday and pub crawls will start July 1st. Plus anytime there are enough people we have: catacombs, shooting, banya, fishing, yachting, scuba diving...

Old City Hostel

Lviv, Ukraine
94%

In terms of location, you can't really beat the Old City Hostel. Right by the main square, it's within walking distance to all the sights, bars, restaurants, cafés you'll want to visit in Lviv. The hostel is spread on two different floors and I was on the first one. Which means that it was more like sharing a flat with a few other people than a hostel, so that was nice. The dorm and common areas are clean. Recommended if you are coming to Lviv!

You can't beat the location. Only two minutes away from the bus station, getting there from/to the airport was super easy. Also close to the bus stop if you wish to go to the beach or the hotel zone. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the 4-bed dorm with A/C, which offered a very good price/quality ratio. The rooftop terrace with its bar and its hammocks hanging under the palapa was awesome! Recommended if you are coming to Cancún!

Nomadas

Merida, Mexico
94%

I stayed there for 3 nights in a private room. And at about 18$ a night for a double bed and my own room, it was very good value! Nomadas is located smack down in the middle of everything, so the sights, the restaurants, the bars, etc, are all within walking distance. The backyard, with its pool and hammocks, is amazing! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hostel itself is colorful and has a lot of character. For backpackers, this is definitely the place to stay while in Mérida!

Hostel La Candelaria

Valladolid, Mexico
100%

I've been to about 125 hostels in 49 countries, and La Candelaria may well be the coolest of them all! The location is perfect, right in the La Candelaria park. So it's close to the bus station, the collectivos, and everything you want to see and do. But it's a few blocks from the main streets, which means that it is peaceful. The place is very colorful and eclectic, and the vibe is great. And the huge garden area in the back is amazing! Kudos to the staff, which is nice and helpful!

Tamarindo bed and breakfast

Cozumel, Mexico
100%

There's a whole lot to love about Tamarindo B&B! The entire place is full of charm and character. The location is great, two blocks outside of the "tourist zone." So you are close to everything in town, including the ferry terminal, the bars, the restaurants, and the shops. The beautiful Ocaso room was a veritable steal at the low-season rate of 30$! Eliane, the host, is wonderful, friendly, and super helpful. This B&B offers what is probably the best value on the island of Cozumel!

Boombully Rooms and Hostel

Tbilisi, Georgia
97%

After a disastrous stay at the Why Not? hostel (a dump), I ended up at the Boombully and boy am I glad to have made the change. Clean, hip, stylish, the Boombully is an awesome hostel. Vast and spacious dorms with fans or A/C mean that you will get a good night's sleep, no matter how hot it gets in Tbilisi. There is a big chill-out room where guests can hang out, as well as a balcony. There's a fully equipped kitchen. The staff is cool, friendly, and knowledgeable. The Boombully is great value!

Envoy Hostel

The Envoy hostel is one of the most well-organized hostels I have ever come across. The location is great, the facilities offer all the amenities one could hope for. The dorms have big lockers and A/C. They offer a variety of tours and the staff is always there to give you a hand, whatever you are looking for. Special kudos to Lusine, who is doubtless one of the best staffers I have ever met! Big common room downstairs makes it easy to meet people. Definitely the place to stay in Yerevan!

The Why Not? hostel has a laid-back and hippie vibe that may not be for everyone. It's low key and relaxed, maybe a bit too much if you are used to a bit more action. It's in the center of Tbilisi, not far from the Parliament. But it's in a courtyard, so there is very little air circulation. Which means that it can be suffocating at times and I found it hard to sleep. Can't say enough good things about the staff, though. They are cool and knowledgeable and will help you out any way they can.

Agora Hostel and Guesthouse

Istanbul, Turkey
100%

The Agora Guesthouse is a fabulous hostel! Located in the heart of Sultanahmet, it's close to all the main attractions. There is a tram spot nearby, which makes going to Taksim or the Asian side via ferry quite easy. The facilities are great and there is A/C in the dorms. The rooftop terrace is wonderful. And the buffet breakfast they offer just might be the very best I have ever encountered in any hostels around the world. And I've been to 47 countries so far. . . Definitely the perfect hostel!

Deeps Hostel

Ankara, Turkey
94%

Deeps hostel is a brand new hostel situated in the heart of Ankara. About two minutes away from the Kolej metro station, it's a breeze to get there from the bus station. You are within walking distance of all the bars, cafés, and restaurants of the lively Kizilay district, which is where you want to be. The hostel is cool and hip, the beds comfortable, and furniture straight out of an IKEA catalogue! The bathrooms are sparkling clean. All in all, a wonderful hostel! =)

Artemis Yoruk Hotel

Pamukkale, Turkey
86%

The Artemis Yoruk hotel is perfectly located. A few meters from the dolmus stop to and from Denizli and only a few minutes away from the entrance to the Travertine pools and Hierapolis. The pool area is great! I got a single room with A/C for only 15 euro, which is quite a bargain. Breakfast is nice and filling. The staff can be a bit disorganized, however. But overall, this is probably the place to stay at if you are coming to Pamukkale.

The Rock Valley Pension is very good value! The six-bed dorm is quite a deal and there are no bunk beds. It's spacious enough not to feel cramped. The breakfast options are delicious and filling. There is a big common room with couches, tables, and chairs that can suit a huge group. The pool and the outdoor area are cool as well. And since it's within walking distance of all the bars, cafés, and restaurants around Göreme, I'd recommend this place to anyone who is considering visiting Cappadocia!

Bahaus Hostel

Very nice hostel in the middle of Sultanahmet. It's within walking distance of everything you want to visit in Sulthanamet, and the tram stop is close by if you need to catch a ferry or go to Taksim. The 4-bed dorm is spacious, with high ceilings and big lockers. The buffet breakfast is great and the sunny room where you eat it is terrific. They also have a cool rooftop terrace that you have to check out! The two guys working the front desk are also very nice and knowledgeable. Good value!

Pedro's Backpackers Inn/Hostel

San Pedro, Belize
80%

As some guidebooks claim, it may not be a charmer, but Pedro's Inn offers the very best value in San Pedro. In that price range, you'll never get anything like it. I was on the hostel side of the property, which is kind of rough around the edges and very basic. But it nevertheless gives you access to the pool and the other amenities. Cindy and the rest of the staff were super nice and friendly. But the owner, Peter, can be kind of a douche. . . Beware. . .

91%

Situated right on Ocean Drive, in between The Cleavelander and Mango's Tropical Café, with the beach just across the street, you simply cannot beat the location. The Deco Walk hostel is hip, with a big rooftop terrace and a nice and stylish common room. The staff is friendly and helpful. The dorms are spacious, though the bathrooms could use a bit of work. Serving breakfast only from 7:00am to 9:00am is a bummer, however. It ends too early and many people miss it. Would definitely go back!!

Backpackers' Lounge

Belgrade, Serbia
100%

The Backpackers' Lounge was in large part responsible for all the fun I had in Belgrade last year, so there was no way I was going to stay anywhere else when I returned to Serbia. Though there are over 60 hostels in town, I wouldn't book anywhere else. You can't beat the location (who would want to stay near the train station???), the place has lots of character, the beds are comfortable, it's nice and clean. And Natalija and the girls are awesome! Need I say more!?! It's the place to be! ;-)

Great hostel in the heart of Sofia! Brilliant staff! These guys and gals are so friendly and helpful, they should give seminars to hostel staffs around the globe! It's not just that they went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I get my anti-rabies injection without a glitch. Hostel Mostel

Plovdiv, Bulgaria
80%

Compared to the Hostel Mostels in both Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia, the Plovdiv hostel doesn't quite measure up. It's not quite fully ready yet, it seems. The outside yard really needs some work, as the only social area at the moment is the common room in the basement. There are a number of kinks to iron out, but I'm sure they'll get there. It's nice and clean, with a good staff and brand new beds. The A/C in the room is a great bonus, especially considering how hot it was in Plovdiv.

Though it can be a pain to find coming from the train station, the hostel is in a nice location near the cathedral and only 10 minutes from the beach. Only a few minutes away from the pedestrian streets for shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. What the place lacks are social areas, as there is only the small common room/kitchen. The couple who runs the hostel are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is supposed to be between 8:00am and 10:00am, but it came past 9:00am the 2 nights I was there...

This hostel has probably the nicest backyard I've ever seen! It's a bit out of the way, but very close to the subway. The place is colorful, with lots of character. Staff is friendly and helpful. Can be noisy, however, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper or if you're the kind of person who likes to turn in early. The outside bar means that there is action and music till late. But for chilling out in Bucharest, you can't ask for more!

Flying Time

Very funky hostel in the heart of Sibiu. Within walking distance to everything, the train station included. For some reason, the breakfast wasn't available both days I was there. The reception was closed as well, and you needed to check in at the bar. Speaking of which, the bar seems to be a local hangout for underage drinkers. That was a bit odd. There is a big kitchen for guests. Wish there would have been more of us, as we appeared to be the only guests. All in all, a good place to stay.

Gia Hostel

Sighisoara, Romania

Can't beat the location, just two minutes away from both the train and the bus stations. But it's not a hostel per se. It's a hotel with a couple of dorm rooms. No bunk beds, so you never have someone above or beneath you. It's super clean and nicely decorated. But there are no social areas, so it does lack in the atmosphere department. On the plus side, it is within walking distance of everything you'll want to see. Special thanks to Alexandra for helping me getting to the hospital! =)

I've traveled to 41 countries so far and stayed in over 100 hostels, and this could well be the most beautiful hostel I have ever seen. Artsy and colorful, the designers had a definite eye for details. Friendly staff, cool vibes, good value; The Princesa Insolente is a visual wonder! Not sure about the see-through showers in the bathrooms, though... You might want to steer clear of the dorm overlooking the courtyard, as there are many late nights at the Princesa Insolente! Highly recommended! =)

Hostel Suites Mendoza

Good location; the hostel is within walking distance to basically whatever you'll want to visit. Nice dorms with A/C, which is a nice touch in Mendoza's sultry heat. Loads of activities every day. Helena, Fernanda, and the rest of the staff are super cool and friendly. The only negative thing I would have to say is the Italian style bathroom, where the toilet, the sink, and the shower share a very small space. Which means that as soon as someone takes a shower, the room gets soaked completely.

I had two different bookings here, but somehow the first got screwed up. So I changed rooms three times in two nights. Many thanks to both Fernando and Max for sorting everything out. The rooftop terrace is awesome! But the bathrooms could definitely use a complete overhaul. It can sometimes get very loud at night when the music is blasting from the rooftop. So you might want to ask for a room in the other part of the hostel, which is much quieter. A good hostel in the heart of Montevideo.

The setup is incredible, the location very close to the beach. It's a bit hard to find at first, even with the few signposts. But it's quite easy once you know where you're going. The dorms are a bit cramped, but the social areas are wonderful, especially the front porch with the hammocks. The staff is super friendly! Only bummer was that they blasted music till way past 4:00am on my first night. Was told it's not typical, so I guess it depends on the hostel's night staff when you're in town.

Celica Art Hostel

Ljubljana, Slovenia
93%

The Celica is a wonderful hostel, no question about it. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the social atmosphere. The problem, though, is that it is almost impossible to get any sleep. Smack down in the Metelkova Mesto, with its many bars and clubs, means that the music is blaring till about 3:00am. Wearing ear plugs changes nothing, unfortunately. And breakfast kicks in around 7:30am with yet more music from the cafe, and that means about 4 hours of sleep per night...

Far from Hollywood and Downtown L. A. (about an hour by bus because traffic is slow), but two blocks from the beach! You can\'t beat that, especially since Santa Monica has everything you need. On the downside, if the hostel won\'t relax its no alcohol rule, then they should try to make things a bit more lively at night. The absence of social activities (pub crawl notwhitstanding) means that people kind of leave and do their own thing. Not the best place to meet people. . .

It seems that there is never anyone at the reception. Had to wait for about 15 minutes to check in, because the receptionist was nowhere to be found. And she was sleeping when we wanted to book extra nights, though it was about 10:00am. The 7-bed dorm is very cramped, but the kitchen and common rooms are nice. Good location...

A bit out of the way, but it is still a good value. Lacks a little character and vibe, though. All in all, good on the wallet.

This was my second stay at the hostel in the last two weeks or so, and everything was as great as the first time! Kudos to the staff, who are great! Don\'t miss the happy hour every night at the bar!,-)

Greg & Tom Hostel

I can\'t say enough positive things about this hostel! The staff was cool and helpful. The location is fantastic. I mean, a minute away from the train station, and less than 5 minutes away from the main square -- it doesn\'t get much better than this! The hostel is hip, with free breakfast, free dinner, free snacks, free internet, etc. In my opinion, Greg and Tom should be your first and only option if you are considering visiting beautiful Krakow. If any one of the staff is ever in the Montreal area, let me know. First drink on me!,-) Thanks for everything, especially the Polish restaurant recommendations! I spent five amazing nights in Krakow, and I hope to make it back at some point!

I\'ve traveled in 26 different countries, and this just might be the very best hostel I ever stayed at! I mean, they even do your laundry! Fantastic location, great vibe -- it has everything a backpacker could hope for. Visit Wroclaw and you won\'t be disappointed! The girls here are to die for!;-)

Nice spot along the quay with a very cool staff! They even cook some soup for guests nearly every day! A very good option if you are considering staying in Gdansk.

Cramped and suffocating dorms. Staff is at times very hard to find (had to wait for about 15 minutes to check-in because the receptionist wasn\'t there and was nowhere to be found. Booked a bed in the smaller dorm to have a bit of peace of mind, only to realize that the door to the larger dorm is in our room. So you have people coming in and out of our dorm to go to theirs. Disappointing. . .

Hands down, one of the best HI properties out there! The common areas are perfect to socialize. Too bad the outside terrace is being refurbished. . .
