Good, well equipped studio room. Location was great and within walking distance of many things. Great deli at the end of the road for breakfast! The guy who lives upstairs was very friendly and helpful when I needed to borrow a charger! There was just one downside - the studio is in a basement and is really damp - for me this was a problem :-( If you don't mind damp I would recommend, if you do then perhaps go elsewhere. If this gets sorted then it's perfect!

Sidsmums Travellers Retreat

I cannot recommend this hostel highly enough, a lovely place to go and relax, meet people, explore the area, cycle, have good times and drink wine! The fact it is slightly out of Carcassonne is not a problem at all as lifts are offered and if a trip is going into the town you're welcome to jump on board, in fact I preferred the location away from the crowded, touristy town. The family who run it are fantastic and you really feel part of it - I was sad to leave and will definitely be back!

Great hostel, brightly decorated, great location for main attractions. The main reason I chose the hostel was because of the reviews of the owner and he really lived up to expectations, lots of local knowledge and recommendations - really helpful!

Casa Caracol

The large number of staff living and working in the hostel made for an cliquey, pretentious atmposphere. As a single traveller I felt totally unwelcomed and awkward. It was crowded and chaotic when I got there and the woman at the desk tried to overcharge me saying the 10% paid through hostelworld went to hostelworld instead of the hostel itself. Overall I felt really disappointed and ended up moving after one night to cadiz inn which by contrast was a welcome relief.

thanks for your analysis of the hostel, it always help us to improve. About the 10% of overcharge, it is totally true that this money goes to the website, you just have to read the conditions of the booking through this site.
