Travellers Home Hostel

Sarajevo, Bosnia And Herzegovina

Lovely boutique hostel steps away from the Old town, but on a quiet side street away from the noise. Everything is brand new, clean and modern, beds are comfy, the kitchen is well equipped. The 3 friendly guys at the recpetion work in shifts around the clock, so someone is always available to help with suggestions, taxi reservations, or just chat. Only minor nitpick--the drain in the shower upstairs was clogged, but that can be easily fixed. Otherwise, everything else was spotless.

Portus House Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey

Lovely, clean, stylishly decorated boutique hostel in up & coming Karaköy neighborhood, away from tourist traps of the old town, yet near a tram stop for easy access to main sights, walking distance to Galata, steps from ferry terminal and Istanbul Modern, next door to the best Simit bakery in town and several cafes. Friendly manager Cidgem makes you feel welcome right away, spends time with you offering suggestions, and even offers tips on proper hamam etiquette. Feels more like a guesthouse

Traveller's Cave Pension

Goreme, Turkey

Gorgeous hotel/hostel, with a lovely courtyard. Huge breakfast buffet spread available to be enjoyed on the sunny terrace with views of the fairy chimneys. Just a short 5 minute walk to the town center. Friendly and helpful staff happy to recommend and book tours and balloon rides. After travelling around for a while and slumming it in hostel dorm rooms, this felt like a luxury hotel. Excellent value for our large, beautifully decorated double room with a large private bathroom.

Riverside Lodge Berlin

Berlin, Germany

Cozy, laid back, and spotlessly clean gem of a hostel in a great neighborhood. Upon arrival, the friendly owner is more than happy to spend time with guests offering tips on things to see and do, and continues to check up on his guests during their stay. Definitely take him up on his suggestion to rent a bike--it is the best way to explore the city. For extra privacy, pick the 6-bed dorm over the 4 bed, even if it has more people. The bunks in the 6 bed dorm have curtains, which the 4 bed dorm doesn't hav

Hotel Am Nockherberg

Munich, Germany

Nice quiet setting, beautiful room, nicely decorated, and excellent breakfast spread with plenty of fruit, juices, jams and muesli. Not really walking distance from the city center, but only 3 subway stops from the Hauptbahnhof. Would definitely stay there again.
