really nice location on the side of the lake with a great lounge/kitchen and a very welcoming host. it can be a bit cold, driveway is a bit rough (drive slowly into it) and theres no lockers but these are minor issues.
This is a great hostel to stay in, very clean and modern, very helpful staff, and only one subway stop away from Manhattan! The area is quite dark at night but I never saw or heard of anyone having issues with their safety. Just make sure to take the 21 street exits to save you walking down dark streets. My only recommendation is to put some shade on the rooftop for the summer months, and get less noisy air conditioners, as they do make it harder to sleep.
This is a very basic hostel, you are paying for exactly what you get. Rooms are concrete block with a fan, and only get cleaned at the start and end of your stay. Bathroom lights weren't working and bathroom rubbish didn't get emptied for the whole week that I was there, though the sinks did appear to be wiped down every day. Location is ok, it is only a 5 min walk to the beach, but it's 10 km from town. buses and food here are expensive! Best to hire scooter and bring food from nz.
Great staff and rooms, could maybe do with lockers. Port hardy is very quiet place to be!
The location is the hardest thing about this hostel, it's a struggle to get in and out of jasper, and the last shuttle is at 5pm so unless you have a car or pay for an expensive taxi you can't go into town for dinner or a drink. There is also no breakfast options, not even free tea or coffee so you must be organised before you get there. The dorm room is good, the bathrooms really need renovating as the showers are poor and toilet doors don't close properly. Staff are pretty sullen mostly.
One of the best hi hostels I've stayed in, only negatives is very slow internet (every traveller has at least a smart phone and a laptop/iPad these days, hostels should adjust their internet accordingly). And the cafe is very expensive, there's not even free tea and coffee. The lounge, sauna and kitchen are excellent and the beds are comfy.
Great location, mattresses are covered in plastic so they don't breathe and it can get a bit sweaty sleeping on them, and bed frames are metal, so squeaky. Rooms are a good size, and my one had a couch which was great. Breakfast is good, though hard to get seating. Staff were excellent apart from the cleaners coming in at 9.30am when checkout is 11am, this little bit of privacy is important when travelling!
The staff are ok, but they don't really go out of their way to ensure that you stay with the hostel. the free bus pass is brilliant. A lot of longterm people stay here, and consequently atmosphere isn't great, but it is quiet. The pancakes for breakfast are really good, but again its a shame that they can't be swapped for at least the cheaper items on the breakfast menu like toast, or the bagel. if you're there for a long stay you are soon sick of pancakes!
a nice hostel, though rooms are small, and in winter very hot (we had our door open to let out heat during the night as the window wasn't enough). apparently in summer the rooms are freezing. big kitchen and decent breakfast, excellent staff.
Nice hostel with very comfy beds, no lockers in room is the only downside. Great roof top patio and cafe next door has excellent coffee, though the waiters there can be a bit grumpy.
Very comfy beds, only two showers and no breakfast. Check in is next door at Swiss hotel.
nice place, great location close to train station and the old town. if you arrive early you are usually allowed in the room but be aware that if you are leaving Quebec city late this hostel doesn't like you storing your bags with them and i couldn't find a baggage storage at the train station. beds ok, though mattresses are covered in plastic, which seems to be typical in canada.
really nice setting, be aware though that in the weekends in summer the next door formula 1 track is very noisy, no sleeping in when its going! the staff are nice, the bikes and canoes are handy, though if renting a bike make sure its been serviced recently, some of the bikes were not in good condition.
Only downside to this hostel is that it has a bar which doesn't shut until 3am, with very loud bands, so if you have a room on the ground floor you will not be sleeping until then. Staff are excellent and very helpful, fresh free towels everyday is great! And lockers in rooms and lights and power points over every bed.
This hostel is going to move soon, but only issue it had was lack of security, no lockers, doors usually unlocked etc. big island hostels aren't great, and this is best of the lot.
My booking got cancelled by owner because of double booking but owner did not cancel booking in hostelworld so I have not got my deposit back! Also Pahoa has reputation as a high crime area on the big island so be careful with valuables and at night.
Amazing place, well worth the extra cost, and overall cheaper than staying in Waikiki. Beautiful gardens, peaceful rooms, spotless bathrooms and huge well equipped kitchen, and run by friendly lovely people.
Improving all the time, comfy beds, air conditioning, fun people but also strict quiet time after 10, so still get good nights sleep.
Great hostel, only things to look out for are the very uncomfortable beds (thin foam on metal slates) and no aircon, though I found it fine with fans and open windows. Sociable place, and if your lucky you'll be there for the BBQ or waffle breakfast, and the staff are great at making it really quiet at 11 pm ( partiers have to go elsewhere )
location is superb, and chill out lounge is fantastic
the top bunks are a little hard to get into and the bathrooms could do with airconditioning (i went from wet to sweating with no 'dry' inbetween) but otherwise this is a great hostel and the staff are really helpful, i would definately stay again!

dirtiest yha i have ever been in. could really do with lockers in the room for better security as people rarely lock the doors. should be a lot stricter on not letting food into rooms, and probably shouldn't have fridges in rooms which only encourages people. there arn't really any good hostels in darwin unfortunately. on plus side was quiet. whole place could do with a good renovation as pool was a bit grotty too.

staff are efficient but don't seem like they like being there, room is only cleaned when someone leaves, theres not much to do on airlie beach when its raining too.
very loud traffic noise, felt like buses going past were in your room and we were on third floor so don't expect to sleep later than 6am when buses start, found cockroaches in bathroom and pool dirty, paid a fortune to stay on new years eve and got woken up in the wee hours by fire alarm, asked for discount since was paying for good nights sleep and only got rude reply from staff. staying in a hostel would be better value, would never come back!
there is nothing to do in this town, you must hire car or spend a lot of time in taxis to get around island, there is no beach nearby even though advertising says there is, staff good, breakfast poor. cappacino cafe in town is very good
could really do with lockers in the room, great location!
i would rate highly for security but you have to keep windows shut because thieves come up the fire escapes, in 30 degree heat this makes it very uncomfortable!
the rooms here are really nice, and good location, directions are very hard to follow so print a good map before you get there, breakfast was great!
this is really not a hostel, just rooms, which dont get serviced during your stay so dont stay for long! also staff get a bit upset if you dont arrive on time which is almost impossible at the moment with a lot of the public transport not working in berlin.
its not that nice to have person running hostel sleeping in kitchen, especially if they brign their girlfriend home; the rooms could really do with fan or air conditioning as they get very hot at night; great location
need better showers, staff are excellent
fantastic hostel, almost as good as their other hostel. better beds but could do with seats and airconditioning in rooms.
its much better to stay in lisbon and do a day trip here, the hostel and town are dead at nighttime. rooms are nice but can smell cigarette smoke in rooms from bar downstairs, no lounge and next to train station so here every train that comes in and out.
in fairness i was only one staying at hostel, i wish i had stayed in lisbon and just done day trip as town in very quiet at night. boys who run this are very young and not travellers so strange atmosphere there. would be ok with BIG group there. fantastic location though right on beach. really need proper sign on door so if you are looking it is on the staircase down to beach. also very pricey no breakfast.
I loved this place, lisbon has the best hostels and is great location. definately have the meal at night it was best meal i had in portugal. rooms are very spacious and two lounges!!
the staff (and greeks in general) could not have been more helpful. it was great having room cleaned every day, and great location so close to beach. dont just stay in perissa though a night in fira and oia should not be missed even though more expensive
could do with lockers in rooms and parking but otherwise brilliant! staff are fantastic and helpful
could be a bit cold in mid-winter but does have heating in rooms
is a bit draughty and could do with a lot more couches and/or a proper lounge/tv area.
it would really benefit from a lounge area and whats with the lockout???
the breakfast is awful, and there are very few toilets but otherwise is a nice hostel though very big.
the pool is very nice to chill next to
i discovered a whole bunch of rotton food in my locker, though the staff did come and clean it as soon as i said. a good price for a short stay.
staying at loft hostel is like staying at one of your best mates, you're immediately made to feel comfortable, there is always someone to go out with or to watch dvds on the very cosy couch, and the guys will really go out of their way to help you out.
the people who run this hostel are amongst the friendliest you will ever meet travelling, and definately the most helpful, with pickups from the bus-train station, optional tours to the waterfalls (if enough people available), and complementary coffee on arrival and for breakfast. a visit here to experience the legendary bosnian hospitality first hand is a must!
free internet and laundry is fantastic and if you want a bbq the owner will even cook it for you. the place is very new and has everything you want in a hostel, only downside is the lounge and kitchen gets locked at 10pm.
the staff are super friendly and if you come in summer they have some great deals (2 for 1, free laundry, upgrades to private rooms and discounts for activities round town) only downside is that is close to the railway station and the noise is very loud at nighttime
