OK place. ~20-30 minutes walk to the National Mall, ~15-20 minutes to U Street. Good wi-fi. Glass used for shower cabins is probably too transparent to serve the purpose (replacement/ some additional curtains would be helpful to make the situation less awkward...) Welcoming atmosphere of the place is spoiled a bit by some warnings signs ("up to $1,000" charge for clogging the toilet, "$100" charge for making noise after 10pm, etc.) and that's strange given guests in the hostel seemed easy-going.

Good location (just next to the Venice Beach; relatively short taxi ride to LA International Airport). Facilities seem old but work.

Stay on Main

Luxurious hotel look with hostel prices (positive surprise when I got to the place!). Downtown location made it a good public transport (metro/bus) hub to all key attractions in greater LA (~30/40 min to Hollywood/Universal, ~1h to Warner Brothers, ~1h15min to Santa Monica, ~1h to Pasadena, ~1h15min to Venice, ~30 min walk to Amtrak or Greyhound; be warned that I still found downtown LA itself relatively unattractive). Major negative mark for laundry facilities out of order throughout my stay.

All good. Very helpful staff. Good location given the price (less than 5 min walk from International station, 20-25 min walk to Pike Market, 40-50 min walk to Space Needle)

Nice place. Not too far from the city center and nakedbus stop. Room was quite cold in the morning (there was only one small electric heater set on automatic and unadjustable timer that did not last the whole night).

Very nice place, located on the main street and just opposite to the nakedbus stop. Warm, spacious and comfortable rooms. Enough place for the luggage (huge plus!) Good wi-fi! Some additional electric sockets in rooms would be nice.

Ducks and Drakes

New Plymouth, New Zealand

Nice place, artistic decor, spacious and warm room, large and comfy common areas. Some more electric sockets in dorms would be useful. Wi-fi paid separately, not the fastest, not the most reliable, and quite expensive.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thank you for your feedback - I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Ducks & Drakes and were warm now that the weather has turned colder. Unfortunately internet access in NZ is expensive, unlike Europe, and we pass on a small cost - from $2 for 30 minutes. I hope you enjoy the rest of your travels.

Small place with nice athmosphere. Excellent location - just in the Leticia city center. Useful hints on renting a bike and moving around. Great support in arranging my onward travel (precise instructions on where to go and what time I should get there - priceless when you have a boat departing from Santa Rose at 4am!). Felt very secure, yet, lockers in my room should be probably better maintained.

Jambo Inn

Extremely nice place to stay in hectic Dar Es Salaam. Very close to Bus Station (approx. 5 minutes walking) and Ferry Terminal (approx. 15 min.) so excellent place to stay on the way from Safari/Trekking to Zanzibar and other way round. Very helpful staff. Hot water on request (that works) or in the morning. Beware of touts in the area that try to sell you overpriced bus/ferry tickets or claiming they are your guides (you will be warned by hostel staff or by safety instruction on the door of each room).
