The Yak

Had a great stay at The Yak during the BPM Festival. The staff are hilarious and helpful and have created a great community vibe. The courtyard is an excellent place to meet other travellers and get your drink on (BYO and bar too) before hitting the town. Great location between beach, cheap eats, and Walmart. The only negative is the unreliable wifi - if you need it for work or something it will drive you nuts! If this was fixed The Yak would pretty much be the complete package. Gracias!!!

This hostel isn't in the party district of Toronto but it does have a great bar and cafe underneath it, and a subway to downtown just around the corner. Super easy to get to the airport too. The hostel has a big kitchen and outdoor decking, and the bar downstairs has a great selection of beer, particularly local craft and Belgian. No complaints!

Great place to stay if you're travelling on your own. Cynthia tries really hard to make you feel welcome and part of the rest of the group staying at the hostel. It's a small hostel and eating and then partying together is encouraged. WiFi on every floor. Comfortable beds. The location in Poble Sec has that 'local' feel of Barcelona that I love and is a shortish, entertaining walk to the main hotspots.

I can't really comment on this hostel as due to a booking error I was placed there when there was no space. The staff was very helpful in placing me at another hostel and reimbursing me the difference in price. The new place wasn't my first choice of hostel but at last minute on a busy Friday I couldn't complain! I can say that the location is good if you want somewhere different but still close to Las Ramblas and the Barrio Gotic. Great places to eat. Also the WiFi seems to work well ;)

Right in the centre of the Altstadt, you couldn't ask for a better location in Düs. The free breakfast buffet is above average and a total winner, the free wifi is fast and accesssible from your room, the privates are cheap and come with a Do Not Disturb sign, the showers are hot and high-pressured, the beds are comfortable - there is nothing wrong with this place apart from its availability when big trade fairs/corporate events are in town!

Small hostel with a relaxed vibe - there are no locks on the dorm doors! Lockers are available for valuables. Great cross-section of travellers when I was there. The intimate atmosphere meant people were chatty and happy to share new-found Korean food and drink. The location is in a quiet corner right near the Hongik University station and nightlife mayhem - so a very easy trip from the airport and home from a wild night. Make sure you look at the directions in the photo gallery as it's not obvious where

Thank you for your stay here. I remember it was very busy day because of weekend and public holiday,,, We need updated google map.(No Exit No3, 4 on google map) Actually we just have main door lock, there's no lock for Dorm except Private room. I'll take care of main door lock in person especially at night. Best wishes^^

Not sure why this place is getting awards. It looks lovely from the outside but the rooms are really spartan - zero storage, too few powerpoints, there's not even a table! Bad noise from the street, room too hot even after a mild autumn day, and rickety loud bunk beds. On the plus side - staff were nice and helpful, there are a few common areas to hang out in, and the location is good in terms of tram to the door and proximity to the CBD, Fitzroy and Museum.

Didn't see much of the place but the private rooms are pretty swish for a hostel and the bar seemed to be pumping all night. Thought the timer in the shower was a nice touch, good to get people thinking about what they're consuming. Right on the tram line to the city. WiFi is not free and a bit of a rort, $15/day is more hotel than hostel.

Very well situated between the old town and plenty of cafes and clubs. The hostel itself was pretty quiet, there's no bar so people head out at night.

We may not have a bar, but we do throw a beer party every weekend. All the guests are invited!

wonderful staff and a grand old setting make this a charming experience. some of the facilites like the bathroom are a bit rickety but not in a seedy way. the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is fine...with free internet, and very central location, it really is fantastic value. the welcome was the best i've had at a hostel, quirky but so warm, and the recommendations for dining, drinking and sights were spot on. thanks for your hospitality!
