Wonderful helpful staff really help you make the most of your stay in Venice. This was the second time we used Hotel San Salvador so we knew it was good. The location is brilliant, the hotel is quiet and comfortable.

Had a few issues with water coming through the ceiling the first night, so moved rooms to the top floor which was boiling hot. But the breakfast was nice, hosts fantastic and good location. We used the metro to get around the city from the nearby Gara de Nord. It's also in a beautiful old house.

Sorry about the water! Our renovation upstairs was missing a shower cabin and the lovely couple up there decided to have a family shower and flooded the floor. OOps!

Being Venice this hotel was quite expensive compared to similar hotels elsewhere but we were really pleased with our choice. Hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and geniune and gave us plenty of advice about to do and not in Venice. We stayed in the annexe which was a lovely high-ceilinged apartment. Nice room and clean. Good shower. Location excellent - just 2 minutes from Rialto Bridge (and vaporetto stop) and about 10 minutes walk from S. Marco.

The location of the hostel was really the only good thing about it - just a few minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol Metro station and within easy walking distance of the Prado to the east and Royal Palace to the west. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the local area. However the hostel was very noisy at night, you could hear toilets flushing in other rooms and the mattress wasn't great. The shower was a bit dodgy, but when it worked it was fine!

the rules are excessive and ridiculuous - particularly the fines. eg $100 if you leave the bathroom floor a bit wet, and being charged per hour if you arrive later than 8pm. i definitely wont be returning although i will definitely be returning to prague.
