Great value for money, facilities are immaculate and the location very handy for either Queen St, K-Rd or Ponsonby.

Delightful staff and decent rooms. I had a spacious private ensuite and thought it was excellent value for money. Very friendly and helpful people, would definitely return.

The single rooms are decent value for money although the whole place is very sterile with little going on for the independent traveller. I'd still return though as the location was ideal just off K-road, ponsonby and a short stroll down to Queen st.

Fantastic crew and the best location for a visit to Auckland. You should do yourself a favour and give the city centre hostels a miss, They even cooked me beef pie & chips the night I was there, just $5. Bamber House has it all!

Great value for money with decent honest staff looking after the place. Not for those seeking a 'flashpacker' experience as it's a bit of a rough diamond but easy to settle in and it feels like a home away from home. Plenty of space in the kitchen and really friendly guys and girls to hang out with (and not just French!). Space for the car and the neighbourhood is really quiet. I'll swing on by when I'm next in town. Merci beaucoup David & Eve!

Ideally located for the station! Disappointed to be told in the morning that the breakfast deal has to be booked the night before - no mention of this on check in, in the room directory or on the advert in the lift. The hsk staff were noisy in the mornings shouting Chinese to each other at the crack of dawn outside my room. Double private room was tiny, access into the bed only from one side and no way to control / turn on the radiator which would have been handy to dry clothes after the rains

A great respite from the asylum that is St Kilda and Melbourne in general (take a walk and you'll find half the population appear to be on day release and the other half on crack). The hostel is very clean with great social areas and the free wifi a big bonus. Very good social events and no long term drunks littering the place like so many other backpacker joints. Simple tram journey into the CBD from outside the hostel. Highly recommend! ...And I still love St Kilda even with all the loons....

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. St Kilda is certainly a "colourful" community but that is part of it's charm. Even the undesirables are pretty harmless. We do pride ourselves on providing a fresh and fun environment for travelling guests and like it to be everyones' home away from home. We hope you made it to other areas of Melbourne and enjoyed all the fabulous experiences it has to offer. Good luck with your travels, enjoy Australia and please come back to visit if you are in Melbourne. Thanks Habitat Crew

Really enjoyed my stay, perfect location, nice sociable crowd and spacious rooms. Most dorms have just been painted and were spotless. Helpful staff compared to other places I've stayed in, upgraded me for free and helped me find a job! Will be returning for sure!

The fat long haired dude on reception was the most miserable git imaginable, clearly hates his job! Kitchen very average. A/C not great, but most areas were clean, cinema room cool and a free upgrade from 6-bed to a 4! Can bring your own alcohol too which is a bonus. Walk across to the State library (10 mins) for free WIFI.
