This is an old school backpackers - basic, simple, relaxed. This may not suit all travellers, however Ghandi's is a more than appropriate for a rest point in JHB. Guests have free reign of the kitchen facilities, free airport shuttle, Internet is available at a cost (no wifi), laundry services available and plenty of travel advice available inside. While the surrounding areas don't feel completely safe (like much of Joburg), a short taxi ride will get you around the place.
Santos Express offers a very unique opportunity to sleep in a train cabin overlooking the beautiful bay. Friendly staff, decent breakfast and attached cafe/bar are more than adequate for a nights stay. Visitors to this establishment should be prepared for a simple and confined accommodation. However this is more than compensated for the experience. Short drive into town. Free wifi was not working at the time; and no standard power plug to charge things - but we could survive one night without.
This is a pretty clean and basic accommodation nearby Little Brak river. Suits travellers with a car, looking to explore near by river and Mossel Bay. Within walking distance of the beach and quaint little train station cafe and bar. Not a wildly exciting place but pretty relaxing and more than suitable for a nights stay.
Good location very close to port and main attractions. Suits those wanting room while exploring the sights.
Friendly staff and good location, but next door a pub. Ensuite bathroom brand new, but other facilities are aged. Light breakfast is just that. Fine for a night.

Don't mistake this for being a poor location. While not smack in the middle of the busy Fira strip - it is a 5 min walk into town or quick scooter trip. Suits couples or a group of people. Friendly family staff. Be cautious of special price for scooters, but worth hiring to explore more of the island.

Located close to Termini, buses, metro and supermarket. Breakfast is not worth getting up for (bad coffee & juice, croissant from a packet served on your lap). No "hostel" atmosphere. Bathroom cleanliness very average. We booked months ago but were put in a room around the corner. No aircon. Nothing special but value for money given location (to Termini) and the reputation of accommodation in the city.
I think the area could become a little unsafe (at night) if alone, but very close to city and train station makes it ideal for a weekend away. The Pension lacks character and atmosphere, but offers a traditional breakfast and proves a centrally lcoated base. Not the newest and most functioning facilities (ie our shower was crap), overall the rooms were tidied each day, and sheets room & sheets clean. I am sure there are better places out there, but low budget this is fine.
This is a great little hostel if you like roof top siestas and a warm atmosphere - chill out or go exploring (right outside the hostel door). The breakfast is a little basic (waffle and toast) but this seems to be the Spanish thing. The free iInternet worked at times. However, decent facilities, clean and secure. The organised dinners are fantastic!
Great location, helpful staff, yummy breakfast, clean and cosy. We stayed during Chritsmas and found it quiet and comfortable - downstairs has a sitting area which was empty over our stay. Not a party hostel, but with the number of pubs and clubs near by you can have a greta time in Bruges and recover in peace.
