Dragonfly Hostels

Lima, Peru

This is the third time we stayed at the Lima Dragonfly hostel. Basically it's location, the staff, and the atmosphere kept us coming back. Clean, mostly comfortable (other than lumpy pillows) rooms, a great rooftop hang-out, boutique beers, 24-hour reception, thoughtful breakfast and helpful staff. Worth it.

Dear, Thank you for your comments. It was a pleasure to have you as a guest and friend in Dragonfly Hostels. You are always very welcome to stay with us whenever you want. Best Regards, Solange Front Desk Manager

Curitiba Backpackers Hostel

Curitiba, Brazil

Good breakfast, good wifi, clean place with a good social atmosphere. There were several renovations going on during our stay so things will hopefully improve (power outlets in room). Fridge wasn't working but staff didn't bother to put up a sign to inform guests. Can be noisy at night. There's a bike rental place on the premises. Overall a decent stay. Staff are friendly but some advice was inaccurate.

POA Hostel

Porto Alegre, Brazil

Beds were grimy and the room was sweltering with a single fan. Kitchen was clean and well equipped. This place is alright for a night, but wouldn't stay longer. Halfway between the airport and bus station - walking distance to a metro stop. Cafe Frances next door serves a good-value set lunch.

Hostal Sunny Days

Arica, Chile

More like a lodging house than a traditional hostel, Sunny Days has lots of rooms and communal areas, a big kitchen with everything you need, fast internet and a generous breakfast. Only a short stroll to the beach. Owner is a helpful New Zealander.

Great hostel, ideal location. Kitchen is big and clean, but fridge is far too small for all guests and very disorganized. Breakfast is decent but hours available could be longer. Share bathroom/shower is quite small but water was hot. Beds are clean and comfy. Staff are A .

Great spot just steps from the beach. Clean comfortable beds and rooms, good vibe, lots of room to sit and hang out. Fast internet in the main areas, no so great in the rooms upstairs. Restaurants and supermarket close by, and the beach, the beach, the beach! Front desk can organize paragliding/sand boarding etc. There's a BBQ Arab outside, hot water showers, and decent breakfast. Overall no complaints - and you won't find a better location! Taxi from Tur Bus station should cost 2500 pesos.

Hostel TitiUta

Puno, Peru

No complaints for this place. We arrived very early in the AM and were shown straight to our room. Breakfast is excellent value and front desk staff were able to book Lake Titicaca tour and onward bus with no hassle.

Intro Hostels Cusco

Cusco, Peru

Despite the glowing reviews we read online our group was underwhelmed by this hostel. Wifi was extremely patchy if working at all and with several days to hang out acclimatizing b4 our hike to Machu Picchu this was a downer. Showers were hot (read: scalding then frigid then warm), pillows are hard, and lounge area is mostly outdoors - not so cozy when it's rainy season - fire pit was a positive though, as it was a good hang out spot at night. Hostel is on its way but not a recommend quite yet.

Thanks for your review. Wifi in Peru is not as Wifi in other countries since its not the same band width as in more industralized countries. Its usually slower. You also have 2 computers available for guest use that do not work with WIFI. In the hostel you have a patio with fire pit and tables, kitchen, pool table and also a bar inside the building. Dont get that part of your comment. Sorry. Regarding hot water, we have them. May be some day the gas was out, but that should be fixed @ the spot.

Hostel Shappy

Zagreb, Croatia

This place is nicely set up with clean rooms, central location in the old city and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We were even given breakfast - a nice surprise. Wifi wasn't working so well in the rooms but fine in the lounge/reception area. Would stay here again for sure.

Villa Jezerka

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

We were so pleased with our stay at Villa Jezerka! Not having a car we needed somewhere close to the park and the location was perfect. The friendly owners dropped us off at Entrance 2 but it's an easy 15-20min walk via the town of Mukinje (where there's a supermarket and pizzeria) and a forest path. Our room was very comfortable and had a private bathroom, all very clean. The communal kitchen was well equipped and the welcome drink provided was a ice touch! Good wifi too. Highly recommended.

Apinelo Hostel

Split, Croatia

We stayed in one of the apartments and were very pleased. Separate entrances make the apartments feel like your own space and not at all like part of a hostel. Comfortable bed, clean, quiet room and two sets of keys! (this is something many hostels do not offer, meaning you end up attached at the hip with your travel companion). The small kitchenette was perfect for self-catering (supermarket is literally next door). Probably one of our favourite places we've stayed.

Hostel Nina

Mostar, Bosnia And Herzegovina

Friendly, family-run place. Met and picked us up at the bus station and gave us homemade cake! Room was clean and comfortable, but quite cold despite the heater being on. Kitchen was not available for use during the winter. Shared bathroom was decent. Walking distance to the old town and bridge.

El Diablo Hostel Belgrade

Belgrade, Serbia

First of all, the guys who run El Diablo are the bomb! Ivan and Dragan are full of good advice - restaurants, sights, onward travel - and were always ready to help at any hour. Room was clean, beds are very comfy and bathrooms well kept. There is a small hang-out space with TV and a tiny kitchen where you can literally bump into other travellers. :) Location is ideal for all the sights. Only thing missing is a sign on the building to help you locate the hostel! Ps. Ivan makes great coffee!

Pal's Hostel

Budapest, Hungary

Great location, cozy atmosphere, clean and the staff were very helpful with our long list of local questions. Free walking tours start very nearby. Hostel is also able to book entrance to the baths and stored our luggage before our night train. Kitchen is intimate but well kept. A good choice.

Hostel MOJO

Prague, Czech Republic

Rooms are spotless and beds are comfy. Staff are helpful and friendly - Robert was a superstar! There's a cafe downstairs with a relaxed atmosphere and good wifi throughout the hostel. Good location easily walkable to main sights. A few good restaurant/bars nearby. Downsides were a bit of noise from nearby renovations and there is one shower that fills the entire bathroom with water... But there are other functional ones. Lots of hot water. Overall recommended.

Rachel Hotel

Aegina, Greece

Steps away from the beach, great staff, cozy rooms, right price. My mom and I were very pleased.

Great place to unwind. Awesome menu and really friendly staff. Rooms are clean and it's in a great spot. Definately recommended.

Luan Vu

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Great staff, so nice and helpful. This place is CLEAN. Great location in town to walk to War Reminants/Market etc. And breakfast!

Phuoc An Hotel

Hoi An, Vietnam

This a budget traveller's heaven - pool, free breakfast, free bicycles.. hairdryer! The staff are very helpful and courteous. Helped us send our boxes of newly-made clothes home in record time. It is a bit of a humid hotel though and can get musty in the rooms since the air can't be left on when you're out. Recommended - especially the banana pancakes!
