Sanlitun Youth Hostel, Beijing, China

We had a 3 person private room which was clean and provided towels. Bathroom was a bit mouldy but nothing you wouldn't expect. There's a bar n pool table which is good but the food and drinks are largely western and overpriced. There is nowhere to sit and eat your own food and drinks which is quite disappointing. This place seems to think its a hotel rather than a hostel. Good location - about a 10min walk to subway.

Free pick up and breakfast are great. Room was clean. Nice bar/restaurant area. Staff we encountered didn't really speak much English but they did telephone to helpful manager who spoke English. The beds are comfortable but traditional style so 3 people to a bed.

The beds are amazing! Really big and comfortable. We had 3 person private room which was v spacious and well equipped with towels n shower shoes. The bar is nice and has live music. All the food n drinks are v western though with no local options available. It is therefore quite expensive. This was the only negative for us. Staff were polite and spoke good English. Definitely recommended.

This is a very practical hostel-lots if hooks, shelves and plugs. Rooms are fairly clean but the bathrooms are old and grotty. Some staff were friendly. There is a cheap bar. The location is accessible to lots of major sights. However, for some unknown reason the road absolutely stinks. Rhis is really unpleasant and the smell permeates the lower floor of the hostel (although not the dorms). Good value but v basic.

The character of this hostel is the main selling point along with the friedly staff. Definitely recommended for a different/more traditional Japanese experience. 7min walk from Kyoto station.
