AAE S.F. European Hostel

San Francisco, USA

This hostel was great for what we needed. Our dorm room was comfortable and the staff were helpful. There is a nice kitchen/lounge area where you can prepare food and get free coffee/tea. The hostel is located right in the center of San Francisco, which is very convenient to get around, but it is not necessarily the nicest of areas. Still, if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, this hostel is good value for money.

Che Lagarto Hostel Salvador

Salvador, Brazil

This hostel has quite spacious rooms, however we found the staff quite unwelcoming. They were helpful when you asked questions, but never offered up any information and didn't even show us to our rooms when we first arrived. The location is good as it's right in front of the beach, but it's about 30mins bus ride to the historic centre

Che Lagarto Hostel Buzios

Buzios, Brazil

This hostel is in a great location, 50m from the bus station and only a few blocks from the beach. The staff were all extremely welcoming, friendly, fun and helpful. The 12bed dorms are actually split into 2 6bed rooms, so you dont feel too crowded. The only reason I put good instead of excellent for character is because this is a brand new hostel, so it still needs to develop its character a bit. So go and help it become the best hostel in Buzios...I recommend it!

Hostel Inn Bariloche

Bariloche, Argentina

This hostel has beautiful views, comfortable beds, hot showers & is very clean. The staff gave us incorrect information for a lot of things we asked about (e.g.: activities, opening times, train/bus departures etc) so if you need to know smthg for sure, ask Gonzalo:he knows his stuff! Also, the hostel was not very accommodating w.r.t rooms, as we extended our stay there several times but had to move rooms each time due to their strange computer system. But overall, this is a great place to stay!

Ipanema Beach House

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This place was really great!! It is clean, neat and tidy, the staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a pool and a bar which provide for great socialising opportunities. A lot of people actually moved from other hostels to this one, which goes to show just how good it is. It may initially appear more pricey than some other hostels, but it is definitely worth, especially since an all-you-can-eat breakfast is included! Oh, and Marco makes the best Caipirinhas in Rio ;-)

Euro Hostel Glasgow

Glasgow, Scotland

This hostel is absolutely massive and feels a bit cold and industrial. Still, there are plenty of rooms and the facilities are quite good. Room and bathrooms were clean, as was the bed linen. There are backpack sized lockers in the room to lock you stuff away. Good buffet breakfast included and there is a bar downstairs, which is great for socialising. Overall, pretty OK place to stay but only stayed there 1 night so not sure what it would be like on a longer basis.
