HI Las Vegas Tod Hostel

Las Vegas, USA

Good cheap place to stay near the Strip in Las Vegas. Simple facilities, helpful staff, easy access to "the Deuce" bus which takes you to all the major hotels & casinos. Stayed in a room with a half dozen bunk beds, locked cabinet. Free basic breakfast of pancakes, cereal and coffee. Probably the best bet if you're on a budget and want to avoid the big hotels.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Yosemite Bug is in a great location just outside the El Portal entrance to Yosemite National Park. Their kitchen and dining room are great too, with a range of healthy local offerings at reasonable prices. I would recommend staying here as a base for exploring Yosemite.

HI San Francisco - City Center

San Francisco, USA

Excellent hostel to stay in. Very friendly and helpful staff, great guests and great atmosphere. Lots of social activities and tours happening all the time. In a central location for exploring the city, but "the Tenderloin" is not a very safe place to walk around, especially at night. Use caution. Great for younger travelers.

Good place to stay if you're young and want to party in LA with other travelers. Staff is helpful, location is good, cleanliness and facilities are average. Not recommended if you're a family or want a quiet time in the city.

Jasmine Guest House

Siem Reap, Cambodia

A great place to stay for backpackers. Their restaurant has cheap and delicious food and they can arrange tours and transport to anywhere you want to go. The rooms are reasonable too.

Betel Box Backpacker Hostel

Singapore, Singapore

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. The staff are super-friendly and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere is great, brimming with backpackers from all over the world. Their facilities are superb - pool/foos tables, drinks, free maps & guides, etc. I would highly recommend it to everyone!

Hostel Cosmopolitan

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A fun, friendly place to stay in KL. Close to monorail station, free internet, next door to 7-eleven and 24-hr curry restaurant. I had a great time and would stay here again.

Tamara Guesthouse

Jakarta, Indonesia

It's not 30 minutes from the airport, more like an hour and a half at least. It's not in the middle of the city as it claims, but rather an hour south of the centre and not within walking distance to anything worth seeing. It's hard to convey the weirdness of this place in words; the interior design is, well, 'interesting'. The rooms are spacious and clean and the manager speaks English. They will prepare simple meals for you and drive you to a few places. I would recommend booking here only if you want to be sure to have a place before you arrive. I don't think the quality is worth the price.

Nick's Homestay

Ubud, Indonesia

A wonderful place to stay in Bali. It's in Ubud, a center of art and culture in the middle of the island. The rooms are clean and spacious and the beds comfortable. Breakfast of fresh fruit and jaffles is free, and the staff are helpful. Best of all, there are many kinds of flora and fauna all around which make it the perfect tropical paradise hostel. It's not like other hostels I've stayed at - more like a private resort where you can relax and enjoy Bali's stunning natural beauty. They also have many affordable tours you can book to see all around the island. Highly recommended!

location's pretty good, about a 10 min walk south of Kyoto station. reception staff not there 24 hours, though; would have appreciated that. atmosphere is good, with lots of other backpackers staying there, photos on the walls. if you're in Kyoto, I also highly recommend K's House for a great stay.

Sumo Backpackers

Osaka, Japan
