I will stay here again when the refurbishment has finished, I'm sure it will be better. The roof top area is closed. There are 2 communal areas with seating:a small bar/eating area by the kitchen, which shut and was locked at 10.15PM on the Sunday night I stayed, with seating for maybe 30 people at a push; and the area by reception, with seating for 10 people. Like a Belushi's/St.Christophers, the bar is a public one, with English football fans in it that night, on their way to Kings X.
The beds are the best I've slept in, while staying at the 8 or so different London hostels I've tried in the last year. Individual reading lights and curtains round your bed space are a great idea. The communal area and courtyard on the basement level shuts at the same time as the bar, 11 or 12PMish, so that compensates for the lack of anywhere to read, watch movies on your tablet etc. As with most hostels, dorm rooms tend to be a bit stuffy at night, with window restrictors in place.
Modern, clean and comfortable
the slightly above average prices seem justified in this hostel, suitable for single travellers up to coach parties. The quite large courtyard on the basement level is a bonus, a sheltered area for smokers at this time of year, and no doubt extremely popular in summer.
This is a slice of paradise, perfect for relaxing or for as many sports as you could wish for.I overstayed by 3 times my original booking. It is only an hour by matatu or cab from Mombasa, but it could be on a different planet! Don't miss a dhow cruise up Kilifi Creek at sunset, so beautiful. In addition, the baobab by the pool must be thousands of years old, it is just wonderful, having your own beach is pretty cool and the guys who run the place are saints, nothing is too much trouble for them
brilliant location, cheap price, so don't expect frills, there aren't any. no common area so you won't meet fellow travellers either.
right in the middle of the action, Shoreditch is not for the road-weary traveller who wants 12 hours sleep.
Great location. Very helpful staff. Everything works well, it's all brand new,and it's a fun place to be. But there isn't a kitchen, and the communal area inside is one open room - the bar (Translate, nice bar though). So if you're trying to keep costs down, and/or eat healthily, it's not ideal. I suspect there will be a kitchen for residents at some point, it's a new hostel and there's still a large unseen area being renovated. Having said that I'll be back, often.
