Good hostel, great staff, perfect location. The amount of rules seemed a bit unnecessary - no shoes inside, no eating downstairs, no alcohol after 10pm, 10 minute showers etc. I would lighten up a bit on these, but otherwise, it's a decent place.
The owner has got it sussed at this hostel - the first place I've stayed in (and I've stayed in my fair share of hostels!) that offers a free laundry service, free printing and free international calls. Plus, he organised a hostel night out which worked out to be very cheap and must have personally cost him out of pocket. If you're going to stay in Calgary, definitely check out Wicked Hostels and give Jeff a high five. Keep doing what you're doing man!
Good hostel, can't go wrong with location in Banff since it's so small and the wee bar downstairs was a good laugh. Friendly staff and decent breakfast.
Massive hostel - must be around 300 people capacity. Only 3 bathrooms on each floor (so 9 in total) which seems insane for the number of people - but actually, it never was a problem. Never had to wait for a shower or cubicle. The daily activities were a great way for single travellers to meet other folk and the breakfast was also excellent.
Excellent hostel. Really friendly staff, free breakfast and dinner, lots of free activities and other tidbits too. Highly recommend.

PROS: It's cool to stay in a mansion, the pool is ace, the breakfast is good, the staff are (for the most part) very friendly and the price is great. Laundry is free too. CONS: It's in the middle of nowhere in terms of bars or whatnot. No bar in the hostel either. Not set up that great to meet people, apart from the ace pool area. Also I think the family are still living there now so it's kind of weird - you're never really sure where you're allowed to go and where not. Wi-fi is iffy.
It's in an old firehouse so the building is a bit cold and grotty in places - for example, the bathrooms... but the staff are cool, the deluxe dorm beds are definitely worth the extra 3 bucks (sturdier bunks, your own lamp and power outlet, more privacy) and the breakfast is fantastic for a hostel.
The shower does get hot but takes 10 minutes to do so. The beds are wire which flip. The wi-fi is non-existent. I encountered two members of staff while I was there - one who was super friendly and helpful and the other who was one of the least friendly people I've ever met in a hostel. Most of the guests seemed to be older folk who stayed there permanently. My room was not cleaned once during my 3 days there. In terms of hostels, you can definitely do worse - but you can do so much better.
The vibe of the hostel is really cool and it's easy to meet people because of the setup. The pool is a nice feature and the breakfast, though not free, is cheap and delicious. Staff are helpful without being super friendly. The rooms are a bit shoddy - old, cold and sort of crumbling... but they did give space heaters and extra blankets on request. All in all a decent hostel and a good place to meet folk.
Well-placed hostel right off Plaza de la Trinidad. Decent price, good breakfast, quick laundry service, and more than anything else, lovely staff. The girl who worked the day shift went out of her way to help - it makes such a difference to the ambiance of a hostel.
Great hostel. Nice staff, fun bar, good location. Only downsides - internet is crappy and it can be noisy at night, though that didn't bother me.
Fantastic atmosphere and really friendly staff, just like (almost literally) staying in someone's home. What other reviewers have said about the breakfast is all true. Only downsides: 2 bathrooms for 20 people is really a stretch, and the internet sucks. But other than that, great hostel.
Great breakfast, great staff, good location. Only downside was the Wi-Fi, which was intermittent and very frustrating at times, and the shortage of hot showers. More hammocks would have bee delightful as well, but that's pretty much a given regardless of the existing number of hammocks. Decent hostel.
Decent hostel with a friendly owner who will go out of his way to help. Large selection of hammocks, which is great. Internet is iffy. The pool is a bit of a joke, and the bar closes at 10pm... but it's the jungle... not really a party place!
The lady who owns it is a total nutter but very, very friendly and will go out of her way to help you. The rooftop terrace is quite nice and the showers are the some of the best I've had in South America! No bar is a shame.
Pros: right on the beach, fantastic food for cheap prices, decent communal living area, decent internet speed. Cons: kitchen is a bit of a joke (one hob and that's pretty much it), showers are iffy on temperature and could do with a spruce, 4 bed dorm is pretty musty smelling. Staff are for the most part very friendly though it's a bit hard to know who works there and who doesn't! And the mini skateboard half-pipe is a death trap ha.
Very friendly staff who spoke english and were able to help with booking flights over the lines at reasonable rates and dune buggying.
Nice rooms, hot shower, very friendly staff and the best breakfast I've had in a hotel for the price.
Very nicely laid-out hostel. Little bit further back from the beach but only like 5 mins - close enough to join the party but far enough away to not be bothered by it when you wanted to sleep! Facilities were great and the staff helpful though didn't have english, the guy who was there most of the time was a bit gruff but always got there in the end. Would recommend.
very nice hostel, good kitchen facilities and free sauna. also individual lights by each of the beds in the dorm are very useful for reading when everyone else wants to sleep.

Very good hostel, one of the best I've been to. En-suite bathrooms were very nice but in a 10-bed dorm it was a bit difficult only having one toilet and shower in the same bathroom!
