Hostel Bekuo San Jose

San Jose, Costa Rica

Absolutely amazing hostel, we've travelled a lot & stayed in so many different hostels and this is one of the best we've had the pleasure of staying in. You could lose yourself for days here as it's so chilled out with so much to keep you occupied, movies, tv, pool table, music, even guitar hero & a wii! The rooms are lovely and cosy and the kitchen is big and well stocked, there's also a garden to hang out in. The staff are so friendly and I would definately recommend Bekou hostel to everyone!

Great place to stay in the Miraflores part of Lima. Its on the main road but not noisy at all, good security and great kitchen facilities. There's an amazing supermarket opposite which is really handy. The rooms are basic but fine, about a 10minute walk to the harbour and a few minutes to the main plaza and restaurants, very convenient place to stay.

Banana's Adventure

Huacachina, Peru

This is a great hostel to stay in Huacachina, we had a double room and it was really cosy and comfortable. The food is nice and reasonably priced, great pool, decent wifi and a really friendly atmosphere, a sociable place to meet people but is quiet after 10pm so no problems sleeping. I would also recommend the excursions they organise and would definately stay again.

Los Balcones Blancos

La Paz, Bolivia

This is a great place to stay in la paz, its in a great location just 10 minutes walk to san francisco museum and the witches market. The staff were very friendly, rooms fine but basic. Only complaint would be that the shower isnt great, lukewarm water but that's pretty common in bolivia. We would stay again if coming back to la paz!

Hostal Iquisa

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

The hostels in San Pedro are all pretty basic but this has everything you need, it has a lovely courtyard which is peaceful and also with free wifi. The kitchen has excellent facilities and the showers are great. I would highly recommend this hostel for anyone staying in San Pedro, just be aware that it is a 10-15min walk into the main area. There is also a computer free to use which is great!

Sol Atacama Hostel

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

This is a very basic hostel. There is a kitchen area you can use but it's very basic. The shower is good though although only one for the whole place but usually not a problem. It's a 10min walk into the main square which is fine. The only problem we had was lack of sleep as the communal area which is outside the rooms has music playing all the time but that depends on other backpackers as the owner was really friendly and asked people to turn it down when it got late.

The kitchen is basic backpacker to help cook something fast and cheap, not to do anything fancy, so it is easier and I recommend pasta with tomato sauce

Hostel in Salta

Salta, Argentina

This was a great hostel for a night in Salta, the rooms are basic but have good sized lockers and decent showers. The communal area is lovely with a great kitchen and also free wifi. The location is a little out of the city but no big deal, probably a 15min walk to the main square but felt totally safe. The hostel also has loads of Lonely Planets for South America which you can borrow which is really useful! Would definately stay again.

El Guembe Hostel House

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

This was a nice enough hostel to stay in with a good location although i didn't feel like my things were totally safe. The dorm rooms cannot be locked and there are only small lockers in the communal area so everyone can see what you're locking up and it seems relatively easy to stroll into the hostel. Apart from that, the beds were comfy, decent showers and enough toilets. The kitchen was also well stocked and staff were friendly.

This hostel ticks all the boxes but is missing the character of some other hostels. The staff are helpful but there is no great social area to meet other people and a lot of the rooms are in the hotel next door so you don't see many people. Otherwise it is a great location next to the bus station and 15 minute walk from Carrefour supermarket. We would stay again!

This has been our favourite hostel so far. Really lovely and cosy bedroom, brand new bathroom. Very sociable hostel with a great courtyard set-up and a fantastic location only being 15 minute walk to the Bell and Drum Towers. There is a decent supermarket round the corner too. Would definately recommend this hostel to anyone going to Xi'an - there's a great bar downstairs too but you don't hear that from the rooms!

Sanlitun Youth Hostel

Beijing, China

Sanlitun hostel has been our favourite in China so far. The staff went out of their way to be as helpful as possible whatever time of day it was. The tours offered were good value and the location is pretty good, only a 10 minute walk to the metro station. Also close to lots of shopping, markets, bars and restaurants. Would definately stay here again if coming back to Beijing! Thanks:)

Ponsonby Backpackers

Auckland, New Zealand

Ponsonby Backpackers is one of the nicest hostels me and my boyfriend have stayed in. The location os fantastic - 10 min walk to the city but away from the CBD which doesn't have as much charm as the Ponsonby suburb. The rooms were very cosy with a great clean kitchen and lovely outdoor area. I would recommend this hostel for anyone who appreciates cleanliness and a quiet place to relax! It's not the kind of place where u stay up all night drinking but perfect for anyone else! :)

Nomads Westend

Sydney, Australia

Pretty good location but a very average hostel. Nothing in the kitchen wasever clean but the bedrooms were ok.

Pacific Hotel

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

For what you pay for this hotel, we thought it was really good value for money. The location is right in the heart of the souk and market area and a 2 minute walk from the creek. The rooms were basic but comfortable with a fridge and satellite TV. The staff were extremely helpful when we had problems getting to the airport and allowed us to check in at 9am. We would definately recommend this hotel to any travellers to Dubai not looking for the 5 star experience.

Kusalo Guesthouse

Dubrovnik, Croatia

We really enjoyed our stay at Kusalo guesthouse and it was certainly one of the nicer places we stayed in Croatia. The staff are really friendly, the rooms have everything you need (including a fan!) and it was a relaxing place to be. Bear in mind that it is not in the old town but a 20 minute walk away which is a really nice stroll plus its nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. There is everything you need within a few minutes walk though (restaurants, shops, harbour etc)
