Very good hostel. The staff is not super-smiley, but they speak a decent English and are very helpful. We went to the Great Wall trip offered by the hostel and everything was ok. Laundry service is offered (15 yuan/kilo). The shared bathrooms are very good (incredible shower!! :-) ) and clean. The rooms are not that clean (floor with lots of dust) but this was not very important. Nice bar. I would definitely recommend it, but try to avoid the basement rooms, is a little cave-like there.

Very beautiful and comfortable room (traditional Kang and furniture) and hostel in general(we even saw a girl doing photos for her marriage in the patio). The staff don't speak very good English. We organised a trip with a driver in the hostel just in front, the Yamen (or something like that). Breakfast was chinese style. We wen't to other hostel to have breakfast :-) I would recommend it, but for what we saw, other hostels in the area were as beautiful as this one. Pingyao is special.

He hostel is very well located, very near to one metro station (This is not bad, as metro station in Beijing are quite far away one from the other), and in the city center, so it is possible to walk to some of the main attractions of the city (Lama Temple, etc.).The street where it is located in quite calm, no noises during the night. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

Nice common area, but the rooms are just suqlid, poor light, no decoration at all, and very very little furniture (just a chair, I think). The mattress was HORRIBLE, you could feel every mattress spring. Quite noisy during the night, I think (but no 100% sure, it was 3 weeks ago). There was a hole on the bathroom ceiling.

Liberta Hostel

Quite squalid room without any light (it was just impossible even to see the sky from our window.) Bathroom Ok, but poor light. No breakfast included. I must say that we slept in 3 different hostels in Taksim area during our stay and Istanbul, and all the rooms were terribly creepy or tiny. In this hostel, at least, the mattress was OK, and food in the restaurant in the basement was nice, as well as the staff, so, bad as it was, it was the best of these 3 hostels.
