This is the third time I stayed. A perfect place for flight stopovers as it is a comfortable walking distance from Taipei Main Station.

An excellent option especially if you are travelling in a couple and you are looking for a quiet place with a familiar vibe. The home-cooked breakfast was excellent, the tiny shower not so much. If you rather prefer to meet fellow travelers, look for something else as this place is small.

Surfers Dorm House

Kuta, Indonesia
71%

This is not your typical hostel - there's only a couple of beds and the staff comes once a day to clean the rooms but at other times, the house will be all yours. This can be good, provided you meet cool people to hang out with, but also quite impractical if you want to ask for things or book stuff. Canggu is quite remote area and quiet and I found it hard to get my way around. The sand at Canggu is dark and the beach is not as pretty, the surf break is definitely not for beginners.

Hi Kathryn, thanks for taking time and put review. To be fair the information in the site says Surfing Dorms. We mainly cater to surfers. 99% of our guests really have a great time and enjoy great surf only a short walk away. Other people love the fact that the staff are not watching you 24/7 and can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. It also states you will need to hire a motor bike to get around.

PODs The Backpackers Home

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

This is a great hostel if you have an early morning flight or departure from KL, it is steps away from KL Sentral. However, the one big thing that bothered me is that the common area shuts down at 11.30 (that's where the wifi is) and the lights in the room are turned off at 11pm. I needed to use the Internet to make travel arrangements and there was no place to do it.

We booked both the private room and then moved to a dorm to escape a weird damp smell. The lockers broke as did the AC but we appreciated the common area where we met fellow travelers. I'm not sure I will be back.

Dear, It was a real pleasure for us to have you staying here during your recent visit to kota kinabalu and we trust that you had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. In fact we do have security lockers for our guests in the lodge and they are located on the ground floor in the dining area behind the reception counter . we used to have lockers in the dorm room but they are not as safe , so now with extra security of a cctv camera, they are almost 100% safe .

Jolie Hostel Bali

This is an amazing new place a with a pool and a friendly owner. We ended up staying longer than we expected. The only downside is the location - you have to rent a motorbike to get around. Luckily the police don't really catch foreigners in this area so you can get to the beach without hassle. There's an excellent food place Campur, Campur aka "STOP" nearby.

Grannys will make you feel like home. Most people come for a few days but stay longer because of the laid-back atmosphere and friendly owners and staff. The only downside is the location - you have to take a cab to go to the beach but I didn't mind.

Don't buy bus tickets via this hotel - they book you to these khao san tourist buses (which I didn't know) I easily paid double of what's usual. But on the other hand this hostel is pretty nice and the staff is easy going. Location is near the bts station but in a not so nice neighbourhood.

A great place borderline designer near Khao San Road but quite so it gets quiet at night. The 22 beds dorm is actually comfy...

Do not go unless you're a premature loud kid who just wants to get drunk... Plus - on the first day I stored all my valuables in a locker and when I returned I found my locker was open because they gave a second key to another girl. Their tour to Ha Long Bay is twice as much you'd pay elsewhere, just as any other service... p.s. for Ha Long Bay make sure you don't book with a company called AZ Queen Travel.

A bit far from Khao San but otherwise it's a cute little place. The staff is nice and they will even inform you on the most common scams in Bangkok. Take airport shuttle No.2 to get there and print out the map and then walk there. Bangkok taxi drivers couldn't locate the street even when I was pretty close.

The location is great, just a few blocks away from the bus station. You might want to know that there's another hostel close (I think it's called Blue Hostal) and there's a party everyday and the music is so loud you can hear the beats in your room. Not good if you to have a good night rest. There's another Weary Traveler Hostel in Tulum which is a lot better and has a great atmosphere.
