The owner Denise was helpful way-and-above the call of duty. The place is clean, well-run, quiet and great value. The staff member who served us breakfast and checked us in was literally the happiest, friendliest man in Indonesia. Recommended!

POP! Hotel Kuta Beach

Kuta, Indonesia

Staff were friendly, place was clean. Location is a little odd and they charged our card directly using details held by Hostelworld (which is against the website's rules). We arrived at breakfast 10-mins before it closed at 9:20am, but were refused food -- we complained at reception and were finally given breakfast. Otherwise, we recommend POP as a good value option in Kuta.

Goodmorning Lisbon Hostel

Great hostel and staff were awesome. Would take a bullet for Sofia and the waffle girl. Room at top was perhaps over-priced though, especially with electrical problems... Nevertheless, enjoyable stay overall.

The surprise '100 baht management fee' upon check-in was not cool, and I believe it's against Hostelworld policy... Only once had hot water in 4 days - but not a big deal... Also rumours that the walk-in price was less. Otherwise, the staff were nice and it's a great resort/location - complete with swimming pool, loungers and talking bird on site. It's a shame, as the resort could easily make changes if they were to read/respond to reviews - then the dorm wouldn't be as abandoned.

Staff were fantastic. Lovely hostel, great location... On the downside - small ants in the bed and not v.social if you want to meet people.

Excellent hostel, no complaints. Parking is terribly expensive - would be good if hostel struck a deal & came up with a solution.

Spicythai Backpackers

Upon entering SpicyThai, I was immediately inducted into a magical maelstrom of awesome. Dougie fed me grapes as I was serenaded nightly by a dozen scantily-clad large-bosomed Thai virgins. For breakfast, I feasted upon frosted doughnuts plucked from the horn of their resident unicorn ridden by a burly Scotsman. Recommended 10/10.

Kayun Hostel

Unfortunately both the hot water and the dorm door lock were not working... I'd say both are pretty essential when paying for a 'cut above' / 'flashpacker' hostel... The staff were friendly otherwise and I got the impression that the issue was temporarily - but v.unfortunate that both were broken at the same time. There was nothing to stop anyone walking into the dorm.

Acme Guest House

Good: Warm & incredibly friendly staff! Clean rooms. Bad: The guidebook is right, it's very overpriced for Thamel. Also, I felt a bit scammed because they advertised wifi on Hostelworld but after checking in, I was told it was a whopping 70/hr. Free wifi is all over Thamel, so I recommend those who require access look around. Acme should state on their page that the Wifi is charged for. thanks.

Great, friendly staff, good location and secure... although one criticism would be that the 12-person dorm really stank and needed airing.

Fantastic place - the only option for Nashville. Decent location, clean and very social - one of the best I've been to (and I've been to 28 countries!)

One of the best hostels I've been to. Far superior to the alternatives in New Orleans. It's part hostel, past commune for some long-term residents - some of whom aren't the friendliest. I wasn't the only one to be randomly upset by the older Liverpudlian fellow, for instance. Otherwise, this is by far the best and most fun option for the city.

Good hostel, a hostel in the truest sense of the word, lovely warm showers and 24/7 coffee, my only complaint is that the staff made access to the TV somewhat difficult. Recommended though. :-)
