The cafe area looks like a hospital - all white and cold. Not even hotels have such a depressive atmosphere! The dorm with bathroom ensuite was great, though. For the good and the bad reasons, Oslo Hostel Central does not look like a hostel at all!
Very helpful and funny staff at the reception and at the cafe. Very good structure, but the building looked like a labyrinth to me, with so many rooms and corridors, haha. There could be events to make people socialize - the only place in which I saw some interaction was the kitchen. Good dorm, breakfast (extra fee), showers and so on, except for the wifi, that didn't work well all the time.
No elevators! No light and plugs for charging our electronic devices near each bed, and no curtains either. So, in this sense, the hostel needs some improvements and updates, in my opinion. Good bar, good food. There should be activities to promote interaction.
Noisy beds. No activities to promote interaction, although there is a huge bar and interesting common areas.
Noisy noisy beds and - unlucky me - very impolite and smelly guys in my mixed dorm. Atmosphere in common areas could be better, too - the hostel could organize really interesting events to connect people.. On the other hand, funny and pretty decoration, specially in the bathrooms. Very interesting to listen to classical music in there!
I didn't feel very safe in the neighbourhoods. I dind't hear about any crime event, though. Unfortunately, there was not hot water in the showers for one day... And the bathrooms inside the rooms are very tiny. The other things worked perfectly!
Wifi works well in the common room. Good and silent rooms. It would be better if there were lockers inside the rooms.
I didn't like security, because: a) nobody asked my passport to check if I was really the person who had a reservation and to make a record of my stay there; b) and mainly because it seemed to me that after 10 p.m. there was nobody responsible for the hostel staying there, as the reception was open from 9 a.m. through 10 p.m. only. I didn't feel safe. Good atmosthere only to the ones in their early 20's, at least on August. I'm 36-didn't feel like interacting with the other mates, much younger.
Regarding to the atmosthere, I think the hostel should organize special events, as it is not so close to Vieux Port and other interesting places to go at night. I didn't feel very interesting to people of 30's (like me), at least during August - most of the people was at their early 20's.

As this is said to be one of the best hostels in Africa, I would suggest an improvement: it should offer more eating options at the bar - like soups or salad - for those who don't want to go out and eat at night or for those who want to have a light, healthy and fast meal at the place.
I didn't feel like going to the supermarkets supposed to be nearby, on account of security. I didn't see any emerging risk, but there were nobody walking on the streets. So I would suggest that the hostel could offer phone numbers of restaurants that deliver food there at night!
The room in which I slept was too open to the hostel's yard, so when somebody opened the door everyone from the outside could see our belongings. It was a little bit invasive. On the other hand, the hotel is very close to the train station (although the explanation about how to get there could be simpler).
Close to Termini Train Station, so its very practical and useful! My room was on the 1st floor, so it was extremely noisy when there were parties in the bar downstairs. In that case, I would had better join the party instead of trying to go to sleep early... Impossible to sleep before 1 a.m. if you are on the 1st floor!
