Really loved it at Seaside!! Great location, two blocks from the beach and major bus stops. Awesome staff who were always so helpful. Free breakfast of tea/coffee and toast. You could pay $1 for huge muffins/croissants. Easy to meet new people in the courtyard or hang out in the hammocks. Rooms were big, with big lockers and a shared bathroom in each room. The lady next door was great for booking tours (do chiefs luau!) You can also take surf boards/snorkelling equipment from the hostel for free

I've travelled all over the world and stayed in countless hostels, this one was awful. Rude staff, no atmosphere, loud, paper thin walls, room was so hot and had no A/C, smelled gross, tiny room with no windows or lockers. The showers were the worst, tiny little cubicle, all your clothes/towel get wet, you have to constantly press the button for it to blast you with water that it felt like a power washer, it thought it would take the skin off me! Spend the extra $1 and stay at the YHAs or Nomads

Hi Gillian, It was so disappointing to read your review. I've gone through and looked at your actual room and spoken to the cleaners that were responsible for cleaning the bathrooms during your stay. I am actually working through a renovation project of all the showers in the building and the 2nd floor unfortunately has not yet been done, but the push button showers are going! If you are back in Auckland it would be great to meet you to discuss further. Kind Regards, Amanda

Absoloot is by far one of the best hostels I've stayed at over the past few years of wandering the world! Staff are awesome, always willing to help however they can or are great to sit and have a chat with! The little things like free towels, shower gel, tea/coffee/hot chocolate make it even better. Really clean bathrooms in every room, nice tv room to hang out in, fridges and tvs in all rooms and free pool table make it a hostel that I will definitely return too next time I'm in town :)
